You get used to going to the kind of car place where the mechanic knows your daddy and you know they’ll treat you right. When I moved to Raleigh for college, I had some unfortunate experiences with various car troubles with area mechanics. Being a young woman who knows little to nothing about cars, I live in fear of being taken advantage of and longed for that hometown trust I used to have in my local «car man.»
One of my seat belts wouldn’t pull out so I performed a googled search for someone who could fix it. I decided to take a chance on this place considering it’s proximity. I could not be more pleased. They not only fixed my seat belt but noticed a puncture in my tire and put on a used tire for the time being at a great price. I was struck by the similarities to my hometown mechanic as I chatted with owner, Jimmie. I would highly recommend this place for their friendly and personable manner and thorough service.

Let me start by saying I am a car DIY’r. I work on my own stuff when I can and have the tools I need to do so. I was in the Auto repair game in my early 20’s. I learned a lot about the Auto repair business. The bad side is, there are a lot of preditory sales practices out there. Read some of my other reviews to understand.
My first experience with this shop was over 15 years ago. I had a 96 Camry that needed the timing belt replaced. I called the shop up as I knew what the issue was and asked about the cost to ensure I could pay for the repairs. Roger quoted me something like $ 460.00. It was actually less than any other place I called so I decided to have them do the work.
The next day they called me and I went in and paid $ 378.00 Folks please read this. I paid LESS than what they quoted me. This single thing started my trust relationship with them and also built a freindship that doesn’t have a price tag. When a Shop can give a quote and do better on a price than what they originally thought, that’s a shop to keep going back to. And I have for most all of my engine and other repairs I can’t manage myself.
Both Roger and Jimmy are perhaps the two best guys in the area to work on your car. They are respectful, funny and above all; competant. Roger ALWAYS takes time to talk to me about my car issues and the only time they don’t do the job, is if I wind up doing it myself or I absolutely need the car right away and they simply don’t have time to fit me in. I have 9 kids.6 that drive. All seven of us have had White Wall work on our vehicles.
This review isn’t for those that know Roger and Jimmy. It’s for those who DO NOT know them and are looking for a reputable mechanic that doesn’t fall to squeeze and pressure tactics in order to upsell you on something you don’t need. I believe that. So do my friends and family.
I’m recommending these guys not because they need more work. But because people who work hard for thier money and need to get the broken down car running again, can take it to them without the worry they will be gouged or upsold on something they don’t need or can’t afford.

I am so glad that I stumbled upon this service station. The mechanics are super friendly, honest and knowledgeable, and the prices are fair. Apparently this station has been in existence for quite some time and it still has that down home feel to it. Definitely a rare gem :)

My daughter and I were in Raleigh recently to tour NC STATE. The night of our arrival, I heard a terrible rattling under the car. It appeared that an undercarriage panel had lost its support bolts and was flapping up and down against the pavement. The next morning (with little time to spare as we had scheduled tours all day), I pulled into White Wall to ask for help. All bays were full but they told me to come back in the afternoon and they would take care of my car. Indeed they did! Within minutes of arrival, they had my car up on the hydraulic and popped in three bolts to secure the panel. The charge: $ 10! Not only did they treat me fairly, but they were so nice. Throw out all your misconceptions about auto mechanics– these guys were like my dad and brother! Thank you White Wall for getting on the road to our next college visit. We appreciate you!
