If you need a swimsuit… DONOTLOOKANYFURTHER. Go to Whalebone immediately. Seriously, best selection EVER of ladies swimwear!(The guys side looked good to but I’m just speaking for the females.) They have so many amazing pieces… if my wallet would have allowed me to buy a ton, I would have. I ended up going with a gorgeous wrap around black and white swimsuit from Vitamin A… and I LOVEIT. The girls who worked there were soooo sweet and helpful. Can’t wait to go back and get another one. after all, bikini season is coming up! Also, I don’t surf but this looks like the place to go in the triangle if you do :)

Cool Surf Skate Shop! Plenty of Dudes Duds! No Speedos, OK Board Shorts are not what they used to be(Boring) so I mean that in a GOOD Way… Fabrics are Thinner(faster drying time, less drag [holding less water]) and More Flexible in case you(or I) ate too many Burgers(and or Donuts {I know you say you don’t eat Donuts, yet someone is keeping those Donut shops in your neighborhood in Business)! Skate Boards(Very Cool Designs) ! Surf Boards, Jeans, T’s, Back Packs, even something to wear under your Board Shorts(?? ?? What? ? ok)… something that is not a Speedo… then they have Girls Bikinis… Nice Looking Shop! Huge Selection !

This place makes you FEEL like a criminal the moment you walk into the store. The staff is constantly following you in the store, and will ask if you need help atleast once every minute or two. I dont blame the sales associates for this, as I am sure they are told to do this by upper management, but they really need to take a hint and chill out. I spend a decent amount of money here, and each time I really dont want to come back, yet I eventually do because of their nice selection. Overall, I cant relax when I shop here. It is stressful when you are closely watched and followed and asked every minute if you need help. Being in sales myself, a simple«hello, if you need help with anything please come and ask me», is ALL that is needed.

Let’s Go Surfing You can find all you need to surf at Whalebone Urban Surf shop except the beach. There is an awesome selection of all the cutest/sexiest and latest styles of bathing suits from designers including Vitamin A, L Space, Maaji, Volcom, and more. And what’s even more exciting, this great selection is available all year around. Yeah! In addition to swimwear, there are dresses, shorts, tops, and cover-ups. I found this very cool little black dress for less than $ 50. They offer items under the Billabong label, which have a higher price range since it is popular beachwear. There was an array of brightly colored surfboards and stand up paddle boards. Accessories such as rash guards are available too. When I walked in to Whalebone the other day, there were 2 sales associates working. I was warmly greeted by one while the other was discussing surf boards with another customer. I sort of eaves dropped on the discussion and they were discussing the appropriate size of board for skill level, wave size, and what to expect from certain brands. It definitely sounded like the Whalebone employee was experienced and knowledgeable about surfing. I was very interested because I recently had my first surf lesson in the North Shore and it was so much fun that I can’t wait to do it again. I’m stoked about trying to surf off the coast of North Carolina. The young associate was very friendly and helpful. She signed me up for their Frequent Buyer program and we discussed the upcoming stand up paddle boarding demo. I wasn’t sure I could make it and she said to call if I wish to sign up handing me a card. I loved this surf shop and I’m glad we have access to the sports and beachwear and all things surf related right here in Raleigh. Be forewarned, after 5 minutes in this shop, I wanted to grab my bikini and head to the beach. You will want to be Beach Bound too.

The absolute best selection of swimwear I’ve found in the Triangle so far… and let’s face it, ladies, buying a bathing suit sight unseen can be a risky and stressful endeavor! There are a few brands I typically lean toward — LSpace and Vitamin A among them. And both of those are carried at Whalebone. LOTS of prints. And mostly bikinis, in terms of ladies’ swimwear. But there’s also suits for guys, surf stuff, and some cool shorts and summer dresses. The staff is young, cool, and eager to help. They fished down a few suits and sizes for me, and even made some mix n’ match suggestions. I sprung for two new suits. But I have to say, considering they’re size«large» bottoms, sadly, it may be one of the last years I can get away with shopping here!

Surf’s up in Raleigh and this is the hottest surf shop around for sure! Originating from Nags Head and opened in 1975 by Jim and April Vaughn, their daughter Stevi Vaughn has opened up a location for those beach lovers here in the triangle. Having been open for about a year and half now it’s doing quite well. I’ve been in a few times just this month! Always a fun place to visit. Stevi, Alisa, Allie and all the other cool peeps there do it well. They participate in local charitable events as well and supporting surrounding communities. Their fun and easygoing approach to helping you shop makes it seem like your friends are making you look your best. Well, considering Stevi grew up on the Outer Banks too I definitely feel more at home more than others. There’s just good energy there overall. Buying trips as well as «in the know» surf spirit keep the store stocked with all the hippest stuff for surf stylin’. There’s always a good sale going on. Awesome Hurley pants. Roxy skinny jeans. Volcom anything you can imagine. A huge array of bathing suits to choose from. Plenty of flops and other shoes. Cool watches, cute earrings, and other accessories on hand as well. Decals and stickers for the beach lovers, surfers, and even those old guys who are feeling surf impaired. There’s plenty of stuff for the dudes and even the little ones, but I’ve stuck to the women’s department. If you’ve got surfing in your list of activities, have the beach lover blood in your veins, or just love the image and style of a surf shop go hit up Whalebone Urban Surf. You’ll love all the great finds there! I know am.
