What an odd little place in the distinctive purple house on Glenwood South! The location is somewhat awkward. The retail/bakery space is actually mixed with living space – there were toys in the entryway. I wasn’t really sure where I could go, outside of the small row of seats by the baklava and ice cream. I think stopping by in the summer and sitting outside would be ideal. The baklava counter looks delightful! The pieces are HUGE, and they come in both traditional and nontraditional combinations(e.g. caramel, honey, etc.). I suggest sharing one, because they are so rich that it’s difficult to eat a whole one. I opted for a caramel pecan variety, and wasn’t disappointed. They heated it up for me, so the caramel was soft and gooey in between the rows of phyllo dough.

2-for-1 ice cream! Take a date or just gorge on ice cream with horrified looks from the people around you. Got the Garbage Can(7 different candy bars in the ice cream) with cookie dough topping — because 7 different candies isn’t enough. Creamy and filling. Décor is something out of a hookah place, and the people behind the counter seems like the ladies who would bake homemade cakes. Sure why not.

Seriously this place is wonderful! So much ice cream and yogurt. The baklava is spectacular. They ate open late and that is the best for a dessert place!

The place is pretty much turkish style. The ice cream and desserts are good but they price is just too much

To date, the best baklava I know of made in the Raleigh and South-West Raleigh area. They also offer freshly made Turkish coffee that is authentic and strong — don’t stir it. They also sell a wide variety of ice cream, but due to the Turkish delights and baklava, I’ve never got around to trying their selection. They also offer smoothies, same applies there. This restaurant is easily worth my Five Star rating, which I reserve for only the best. I keep my four and three star ratings for the majority. Due to my Five Star rating, it qualifies for frequent visits: one to two visits every two months(my highest frequency). I also love to use this place as my after dinner location if I am dining on Glenwood Avenue. Every time I visit, I end up spending about $ 35 on baklava alone to last me almost two weeks. A must visit before you leave the Raleigh area due to vacation or relocation.

This is a quaint little purple house that’s actually a coffee and dessert shop. I am usually not a baklava fan, but their baklava is pretty good. We got the rose and pistachio baklava which has a nice rosewater flavor. I would have preferred it to be a little less sweet though. The Turkish coffee was nice and on the stronger side, but in a good way. The iced cappuccino was made with instant espresso, but I enjoyed the hazelnut flavor. Overall, I liked the quirky ambiance with all the little trinkets and some art work for sale. It’s a nice place to hang out, and get your caffeine and sugar fix.

Very interesting place to grab desserts and coffee while you’re in the area. The place serves creamy ice cream and a variety of Turkish desserts and coffee creations, all in a small one-story purple house converted into a café of sorts. I tried the Rose Turkish delight(40 cents per piece), which had a wonderful subtle rose flavor. I also ordered a tiny cup of Turkish coffee with sugar, something I’ve never had before, and was surprised by how rich it tasted. I’m guessing it’s the superfine grinds of coffee immersed throughout the coffee that gave it such incredible flavor. A small amount was priced a bit towards the steep side at $ 3.50 for 4 oz, but worth it for the first experience. My friend and I headed towards a cool-looking room with shelves of ethnic decorations and seating, as well as displays of clothing. It looked like it was formerly a tiny living room, now converted into seating area for the store. Overall, a very interesting and cool experience. Coupled with yummy Turkish desserts, this place is a must-visit for those who have never been.

My 100th Unilocal Review, and I’m happy to use it on a very Special place! I’m a little sentimental about this shop because I found it with my two kids when we first moved to NC back in 2001… 12 years ago! And its been a special treat ever since. In fact, my son(now 21) makes his own homemade Baklava so we are quite the baklava conniseurs. Now that the kids are grown and have been out on their own this was our first time back in many years, and we enjoyed our trip once again. We brought home their huge pieces of Caramel Baklava and also the Traditional Pistachio. YUMM! It is hard for Matthew to admit when someone else has great Baklava. Haley and I both had ice cream, she had the Coffee and I had the Superman. I’ll post a picture of the Superman, you’ll know it when you see it. :-)

They will not thrive when hospitality was extremely poor and baklava was expensive and mediocre. We order 3 different baklavas and 1 ice cream. My wife’s ice cream she ordered was old and freezer burnt tasting and she politely informed one of the lady’s. The lady then became very defensive and said«wasn’t our problem» and«we should have sampled it first.» After feeling put down and cheated we asked for either our money back or another flavor. They continued to say, «not our problem» and that they will not. Well, they have turned first time customers into customers that will never return, will spread the word, and negatively rate them. If you go remember 1. Ice cream is iffy(it may be freezer burnt) 2. Baklava was nothing to talk about(bland, microwaved, soggy) 3. Do not point out a defect with their product and/or service or you will hear it from them until you walk out the door.

Yummy! Yummy! To my Tummy! I loved this place. I thought the baklava was very good and creative. We tried the peanut butter, caramel pecan, and the original. I liked all of them but the peanut butter. It wasn’t my taste but everyone else really loved it. The best was the caramel pecan. It was a perfect balance of sweetness and the texture was great as well. Sometimes with baklava it will tend to be mushy. Not so everything tasted very fresh. I also tried the Turkish Delight candy. My favorite was the Rose flavored. It was lightly perfumed. I definitely recommend this place.

I’d just gotten dinner nearby with friends and they wanted dessert. A quick search resulted in this place. My previous experiences with baklava were always mediocre– too sweet or too dry– and I was not excited about going here at all. However, everyone in my group was enthusiastic so I just went with it. We ordered 3 – 4 different flavors of baklava and once I had my first taste, that was it. Soooooo delicious. The perfect balance of sweetness with nuttiness… moist yet flaky. If you’re like me and have been ehhhh about baklava in the past, try this place out and maybe your opinion will change!

For $ 4 bucks, you’ll get a slice of baklava which is honestly the best thing in the shop. The two owners thought I was 17 with a baby which I’ll gladly take as a compliment! They said this is a retirement hobby of theirs. One was a bank manager while the other was a pharmacist back in the mother land. I absolutely love baklava. It falls under my category of «how can I immediately clog my arteries of the delicious fatty food that’s probably 1 million calories». We got the peanut butter baklava and the caramel pecan baklava(both are very good), Turkish coffee(strong, grinds at bottom of cup, distinct), Turkish tea(taste like regular black tea and nothing special) and Turkish delights candy. I’m not a coffee expert though since I rarely drink coffee but I sipped a little of my husband’s and it was not bad but not worth the $ 3.50 it cost. The candy flavors were: plain, rosewater, pistachio, and hazelnut. Interesting jelly texture but not my kind of candy. IIf in town, I’d visit again just for the baklava.

Baklava in Great and more unique variety: Here is what we had today:: Chocolate Covered Baklava, Coffee & Almond Baklava, Traditional Pistachio Baklava, Lemon Ice(Sorbet like«Ice») and Hot Apple Tea! ALL selections were VERY Good! Other Baklava Flavors I saw in the case today were: Peanut Butter, Pecan Flaky, Walnut Flaky, Rose Pistachio, Apple Raisin and Caramel Pecan! This is a Cool Purple House in a Cool neighborhood and the Lady working here was really sweet! Plenty of Purple Outdoor seating! Two Smaller dining rooms and one Bigger main room with Tables and Chairs to relax. My Girlfriend is part Turkish so it was easy to decide what to get!

Popped in after lunch with dad for dessert. It was the nearest café and I had actually never consumed baklava or Turkish coffee. So I got one of each. The rose water pistachio baklava was delicious. It was fantastically flaky, sweet but not overwhelming and had subtle hints of rose. Ironically it smelled more of roses than tasted. The Turkish coffee was interesting. I expected it to be thicker than it was, the grit was not bad. It tasted very Earthy to which my father said«You mean like dirt?» and I did not think it tasted like dirt. I liked it and would drink it again.

What an adorable little place, I absolutely fell in love with it here! This cute little purple place cannot be missed on Glenwood Ave. I have seen it so many times, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to walk in. I was here with a friend the other night, and we were looking for something to cool us down after a little bit of exercise in Pullen Park. We stopped in for smoothies, but I ended up sampling some of the ice cream too, which was all really good! My smoothie was a fresh fruit strawberry/mango made with some sort of tropical orange juice. It really hit the spot! And although I didn’t have room for any Baklava, I did make sure to try one of the Turkish Delights candies(basically water, sugar and corn starch) and they were o so sweet and o so delicious! Definitely want to come back and try the coffee/tea and some baklava, which I did notice comes in several different flavors. See you soon Turkish Delights! P. s. $ 5 min for credit cards, I never carry cash, but did end up spending over $ 5.

I have had a portion of most of the major edible draws of Turkish Delights at this point: baklava(big, tasty, and available in myriad flavors), ice cream, smoothies, and Turkish tea. It is a consistently enjoyable experience to sit outside on the purple balcony and have dessert or a snack. There’s a $ 5 minimum for card purchases, in case you, like me, rarely carry cash and are in need of this information.

I think I found my new favorite place in Raleigh!!! Didn’t expect a lot from this purple house, but walking in was just amazing. Neatly decorated with comfy pillows. They’ve utilized all the nooks and cranny of this place to seat the audience. The one-of-a-kind Turkish jewelry and goodies added a touch of foreign experience. I loved it! I bought an Evil Eyes(it’s good luck), bought a pair of earrings for a friend of mine and of course I couldn’t forget about the Turkish Coffee — DELICIOUS!!! Also I tried the Chocolate Baklava and a Turkish Delight — both were YUMMY! I’m so coming back to this place. The two ladies who run this place keep this place clean and just very welcoming. I do enjoy the comfort of independent owners. They seem to make the experience that much enjoyable.

If you order Turkish Coffee, make sure you drink it slow. It has a kick. I was given a history lesson on Turkish Coffee from the owner when I was there. It was very interesting. They sell more than coffee there. Ice cream, Bakery Treats from turkey and also Jewelery from Turkey(very cool). You have to buy an Evil Eye, it will protect you from bad things happening to you. It works, when I walked in almost all the eyes cracked, Hmmm. I did not think I was that bad.

I hate to be the negative review, but it just wasn’t what I expected after all the 4 and 5 star reviews… The space is very cute and the women working there look like they really know what they are doing. I also love all of the outdoor seating! Why I am giving it 3 stars… because I can’t give 2.5. The traditional walnut baklava was good, not great, nothing special. The texture was just there, not good and crispy like I like, and kind of mushy, but not in the tons of honey good way which I also like. The flavor was lacking any spice and even nuttiness. But again this one was not bad at all– just o.k. The flaky, triangle, pistachio baklava was not even worth more than 2 bites of calories for me. I thought it was odd that the lady serving us microwaved this piece, but hey she knows what she’s doing, right? Nope, it tasted every bit microwaved and was no longer flaky, but deflated. I want to like this place so much, it seems like it should have been my baklava experience peak, but it is likely I will not try it again for a while. I look forward to giving Turkish delights another go-round, but I will have to be on Glenwood with nothing else to do, and order completely different items. Oh, and it seems pricey compared to other baklava options in town.
