I LIVE for cupcakes lol my boyfriend and I shared the snickerdoodle cupcake and chocolate peanut butter. Both amazing! Shop is adorable and very cozy to enjoy your cupcake in peace. Can’t wait to try another one!

I have been to the Cupcake Shoppe on several different occasions and they never disappoint! I have tried several different cupcakes but my two favorites are the Mint Chocolate and You Mocha Me Crazy. I also love that they have seasonal offerings and a flavor of the week. I will definitely return!

I was sadly disappointed with my daughters cake. The buttercream just wasn’t right, too sweet I think. Maybe my expectations were too high but first look at the cake was a let down. Not worth the price. Will go elsewhere in the future.

I’ve experienced rude staff more than once. This is a convenient location, but you can get the same quality of cupcake at Gigi’s and other bakery’s around town.

Wonderful friendly location that serves freshly made from scratch cupcakes. I had the strawberry cupcake. It was a wonderful treat. Plenty of drink selections and lots of indoor seating. Parking can be a challenge at times.

Boyfriend and I were walking down Glenwood and noticed that The Cupcake Shoppe was still open so we HAD to stop because I LOVECUPCAKES! My best friend and I refer to ourselves as the Cupcake Twins. Since it was cooler they were able to open up the windows which I really enjoyed. I decided to go with the Funfetti since it was a special Halloween cupcake that they were doing while Boyfriend went with the Lemon Zinger. The Lemon Zinger was delicious but the Funfetti tasted dry so I only ate half of it. Not the best cupcake that I have had around the area but it is a cute little shop, I would return.

This place is adorable! We were craving something sweet after our dinner in downtown raleigh but lucettegrace had JUST closed so lo and behold, we found the cupcake shop on south glenwood that stays open very late. The place is beautiful! There is most definitely an aesthetic that they maintain here; old vintage cute cupcake boutique. They even have an antique cash register! Gorgeous store. We decided to split the mocha cupcake and it was oh so yummy. My boyfriend usually doesn’t like cakes and cupcakes but he kept raving about this one. I thought the icing was a bit stiff but it did look nice. I just like the softer buttercream or even better, the cream cheese icing. Still tasty though. The cake was also quite moist. These are a little expensive, because they’re on the smaller side. But I do think it’s worth it once in a while.

Last week I was in The Cupcake Shoppe I was looking forward to having one of their cupcakes. I was looking through the display of cupcakes when myself and my party noticed there was a fly flying around in the display with all the cupcakes. We politely said to the lady working behind the counter that there was a fly in there. She simply responded«oh I’ve been trying to get that out of there» and continued to attempt to take our order. After I politely told her that I wasn’t interested in ordering a cupcake where it’s been in a case with a fly flying around for who knows how long, she still made absolutely no attempt to do anything to even remotely try to remove the fly from the casing. The party that I was with ordered some other things and I sat with them for about 15 minutes and we watched the fly fly around in the case landing from cupcake to cupcake. The young lady working there continued about her business doing other duties and still never made an attempt to do anything about the unsanitary situation. Needless to say I was very disgusted. I emailed management and their response was: While we take every precaution in terms of keeping our case closed with the sliding doors from time to time with foot traffic being heavy in the shop a fly will slip in. Often we can quickly«shoo» them out but typically the best tactic is to leave the case door open and often they will escape on their own. Although i can understand that a fly may find its way in when when sliding doors or open the fact that it is their practice to just leave the door open and hope that the fly just finds its way out is a little unsettling to me(seeing that the food is what the fly is after) while in the meantime it contaminates the food that they are selling and no proactive measures were taken. Obviously, I will not be returning or recommending this place.

I was able to try the«What’s Up Doc?» carrot cake cupcake and the peanut butter cup cupcake at the Cupcake Shoppe today. Both were good and were nice and moist contrary to some of the reviews on here. They came with a lot of frosting, but I certainly won’t complain about that. The peanut butter cup was plain chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter frosting that tasted like the inside of buckeye candies or PB fudge. The carrot cake frosting not had just a hint of cinnamon. Both cupcakes were good but not mind blowingly amazing and just a little overpriced at $ 3.25 each.

This is currently my favorite cupcake shop in Raleigh. My office is just around the corner, so I end up getting cupcakes pretty frequently through work events and they are always great. I try not to eat many sweets, but this place has an exception in my book. I’ve read the mixed reviews for this place, including some from friends that I definitely trust. Maybe it’s because I usually come during the day and the cupcakes are fresher, but the cake has always been moist and I haven’t tried a bad icing yet. My favorite cupcake is the Mint Condition, but I like all of the cupcakes with buttercream frosting. The mini cupcakes are great as well, but you have to order those ahead of time. The flavor of the week cupcakes are usually good as well, and I like the variety that this shop offers compared to many other local options. The gluten free options are also solid, and not many places offer consistently good gluten free alternatives. They only have GF cupcakes on the weekend, but they have two types of cookies available during the week as well. The peanut butter cookie is my favorite and has always been moist. Definitely one of my favorite gluten free dessert places locally. I’ll agree that parking is not ideal, but that’s generally true of this part of Raleigh. It’s not bad if you’re familiar with the area, but I can see it being a headache if the shop caught your eye on the way somewhere else. On the other hand, if you’re already on Glenwood South for dinner, it’s very easy to drop by afterward for dessert. Also, they’re open until 8 pm during weeknights and 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.

The pastries are SO much better than the cupcakes.(Try the pineapple or strawberry!) A little expensive, but good for a treat once in a while.

This place is seriously cute! The décor is very adorable and fitting for a cupcake shop. I’ve always had excellent service with great cupcake recommendations. I find their price of $ 3.25 pretty standard especially when comparing it to other specialty cupcake shops like Sugarland, or Gigi’s. I’ve tried the Lemon Zinger, What’s Up Doc(carrot cake) and a S’mores themed one. The Lenin Zinger is definitely my favorite with the right amount of sweetness and lemony flavor. The S’mores and carrot cake ones were both a little on the dry side but the frostings were delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try their ice cream sandwiches!

I can’t say enough good things about this place! The cupcakes, the brownies, the ice cream sandwiches, the cookies, OHMY! Everything is always so fresh and delicious!!! The service is friendly and efficient. Arlen is the best! A true asset to this place! Regardless of a couple minor issues(smushed icing on cake that the delivery company caused, wrong color sprinkles-they always have made those mishaps right) over the years of service they are my favorite hands down! No other cupcake shop has come close to the quality and service combined! My go-to place whether I’m having a party or just want to have a sweet treat! Run, don’t walk to this neighborhood gem! If you don’t live close, I don’t :(I just have orders delivered!

I get excited every time I hear of a shop offering gluten-free desserts. I had no idea this place has been open for almost a decade! I met Arlen at the downtown Raleigh farmers’ market, where she saves some amazing macaroons for me each week. She said they have gluten-free cupcakes on the weekend. They put the GF cupcakes out very late on Thursday, so you can sometimes get first choice by popping over early. But they keep fresh stock on the counter on Fridays and Saturdays. They usually have three different flavors of the week. These are the BEST gluten-free cupcakes in the triangle, and trust me, I’ve had them all.(Gigi’s is a dry rock, and while Sugarbuzz in Cary has amazing GF brownies, their cupcakes are just okay.) I’ve made it a weekly tradition to visit to get my sugar fix. I can also attest to their catering skills. I had them cater five dozen cupcakes for a company event, and they also did a big jumbo cupcake with our company’s logo for the centerpiece. Arlen was on time(actually, early!), and they rented out a cupcake stand so everything looked amazing. I didn’t hear a single complaint. And last year for my SO’s birthday, I had a custom cake made at Sugarbuzz. They did a pretty good job with the decoration, but it was just SO much cake! I decided to see what the Cupcake Shoppe could do, and they’re doing two custom jumbo cupcakes for us so that I don’t have to waste $ 100 on half a cake we aren’t going to eat. Super nice, super friendly, super clean, super delicious. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!(And I’m on my way there now!)

Owner is real friendly, very personable. I had the mocha cupcake, all are $ 3.50. Cake was moist and delicious. Icing was like velvet. Her iced coffee was to die for. Next time, I will ask for less ice. Will definitely return.

I have a love hate relationship with this cupcake shop. It’s like having a relationship with a boyfriend who has major bipolar disorder. You love him to death and he’s sweet most of the time but sometimes he acts up and you just wana kick him to the curb. You just have to cross your fingers and hope you’re there on the right day. When this cupcake shop just put out their cupcakes fresh that day, that cupcake is bomb diggity. But if you’re getting a cupcake that’s been sitting there for a few days, you end up with a cupcake that you just wana kick to the curb. I almost can’t blame them, cause nobody wants to throw out cupcakes at their own business. But I just wish cupcake shops would just stop serving cupcakes that are days old! So for this I have to take away a star. With that aside. This little joint is my go to cupcake shop in downtown Raleigh. Their cupcake is so moist, soft, just the right fluffiness, and the cake itself isn’t super sweet. Their frosting tends to be on the sweeter side but I find that it’s a good balance since their cake isn’t sweet. The red velvet has a good amount of cocoa in it so you can taste it, which I love. I hate a red velvet that tastes like food coloring. The cookie monster one is delish. It was a perfect cookie crunch with the soft cake. Bursts of chocolate here and there, aaahhmazing. This is a must try for chocolate/cookie lovers. Their carrot cake cupcake is also a must try. I usually like minty flavors. I love mint in my chocolate. But their mint chocolate cupcake is a total fail. It tastes like I’m eating a chocolate brownie with toothpaste on top. If that’s your kinda thing, then you might like it. The mint flavor was just too artificial here. It would work better if it was more light and a fresh kind of mint. I find that a couple of their«creative» cupcakes tend to have that artificial taste to it. I think as long as you stick with the classics here, you can’t really go wrong.

I have tried so many of the cupcake shops and bakeries in town. These are hands-down my favorite cupcakes. My sister is addicted as well. Unfortunately I live 30 minutes away from here but I still make excuses to swing by here and get a cupcake and a cup of coffee. I can’t remember the exact name of my favorite but it is a coffee and chocolate mix. Yummy!

Hhhmmmm, what can I say except this place is so not worth being classified as a good cupcake spot. Their cupcakes are $ 3.25 a pop and if I’m going to pay that for a standard size cupcake it better be good. We purchased 3 cupcakes(Big Red, Lemon Zinger and Plain Jane), Banana Walnut slice, Cookie w/sprinkles and a Chocolate Brownie. The cupcakes were all very dry with a capital D. The frosting was hard. The cupcakes tastes like they were sitting there for 2 – 3 days. The lemon zinger was supposed to have lemon curd injected in the middle but it was more like a tiny squirt. The banana walnut slice had a strange aftertaste, the cookie I didn’t get a chance to try because my kids finished it before I knew it was gone. The brownie taste like a regular brownie, nothing special. Here’s the breakdown of the rating of 2. Cupcakes — 1 Customer Service — 3(nothing special, just average). Note: that’s why I didn’t make mention of it above Décor — 3 Cute set up Price — 1 Overall — 2 Would I go back? No. Would I recommend this place? No Is it way overpriced for what you get? Yes
