They had a really interesting selection, though the main shop is clearly slanted towards that«might have found this in my grandma’s country home» aesthetic. The prices were on the high side, though not offensively so, and the service was kind of, um, stoic. Not unfriendly exactly, but no one in the place was all that welcoming either. I enjoyed browsing through their larger warehouse full of stacked up furniture that just needed a bit of attention. There was a ton to choose from in there, but the variety is the main attraction of that second space. The pricing seemed high for things that were all in need of repair and restoration, especially considering that some of the dust-covered pieces seemed to have been there awhile. This is the kind of place I’ll visit again when my desire for something very specific outweighs my urge to bargain-hunt, but I doubt it’ll become one of our usual antique-shop stops.

The older lady is rude and smug along with the younger girl with black hair. Warehouse pricing on items are outrageous and inconsistent. Avoid this place unless you have lots of money to give away.

Did some photography in this business this weekend and WOW it was a fantastic place. They renovate old furniture and antiques to like new quality. SUPER friendly staff, and very nice design throughout the entire business, it’s split up into different buildings, which is neat, since you can sort of wander throughout the whole place. Here’s the photography!

I originally found Revival Antiques when it was out at the Flea Market on the State Fair grounds. If you like distressed wood furniture with a cottage/farmhouse feel, or quality vintage/antique furniture that has been revitalized, but is actually reasonably priced, this is the place for you. There are a lot of places in the Chapel Hill/Durham area with this type of furniture and home stuff, but most are really overpriced(see Branching Out in University Mall as an example). Revival Antiques buys furniture at flea markets and estate sales all over the country, brings it back to their warehouse on Capital Blvd. and refinishes them. The warehouse is in kind of a weird area and it can be easy to miss the turn, even though it’s on a big road. I miss them being at the State Fair grounds, but the flea market that’s there has gone downhill in the last year or two and now has a lot more junk than good furniture or antiques, so it’s not surprising they left. But now Revival has a lot of space to show stuff, and it’s worth a trip for me a few times a year. In addition to the showroom of finished furniture, they have a huge warehouse of unfinished furniture that has two prices on it — one is an «as is» price and the other is for them to fix it up. The owner is really nice and again, all their prices are super reasonable. If you are into this style(cottage/farmhouse/a little bit Pottery Barn), be sure to check them out.
