If you didn’t grow up in Raleigh-remember that neighborhood grill you’d hit up after school or a ball game for hot dogs, crinkle fries and soda fountain drinks with the good kind of ice? Well this is your old neighborhood grill in Raleigh! Plus the chicken salad(traditional kind-shredded, not sweet) is amazing & did I mention it’s cheap? Well, a cheaper lunch than most north hills/downtown places. I believe they have daily lunch specials too. Check it out.

If you want satisfying greasy fare, this is the place. The dogs are great, the homemade chips are crispy, and the chicken salad is delicious.

Convenience is what brought me here. It was NOT the customer service, NOT the quality of food, and NOT the speed of food preparation. Although the staff does try, their lack of direction and leadership is easily visible through their fake smiles. I can only assume the older gentleman wandering around aimlessly is the owner and he only cared about taking care of those ITB friends that acknowledged him. Should anyone have to wait 24 minutes for two hotdogs? I don’t think so. Not only that, but apparently it’s quite difficult to read the order and prepare it correctly. It was to be only two toppings, not four. Again, I blame the lack of management and training. I guess I should have picked up on the signs: overflowing trash cans, a 91 food rating, napkin dispenser was out, and customers asking where there order is. Would i recommend this place? No Will I return? Maybe, but if another hotdog place comes to NH, I doubt I will ever return.

Service wasn’t fast and it was a little crowded, but all in all it was good. Great Philli cheesesteak. Everyone will have a different opinion but this is definitely worth a try at least once.

When I saw that the Turkey sandwich was $ 8.69 I assumed it mush be gourmet. Well they took 2 slides of long life bread from a bag, slapped 2 slides of turkey from a packet then a leaf of lettuce in between & some avocado paste from a jar. With tax I paid more than $ 9.50. Which is day light robbery. Below average food at exorbitant prices. If you want a great sandwich in North Hills Plain go to Wich Wich. You get a better sandwich at half the price If you want a great burger go to Five Guys. Again half price & better food. If you want gourmet sandwich/burger in North Hills go to B-good. Still about $ 2 cheaper than Pharaoh & genuinely gourmet & tasty. Avoid this place.

Worst service ever! I had been to this place once before and had to wait FOREVER for my food. The only reason myself and two co-workers went today is because it’s in North Hills and we had to run errands there. We called in orders for hotdogs… 20 minutes before we got there. They advised it would only be 15 minutes. An HOUR after we got there we will had no food. We are now late going back to work. When we asked for our money back the girl at the counter went to the grill, they stuffed hot dogs in the bag(if they were ready then why did we have to request a refund for them to bag them) and said«So sorry»!! They left off a portion of the order… and were SUPERRUDE when we called to advise we’d back to get the money for the left off portion. The food is super mundane and so not worth the wait, attitude or price. Save your time and money.

Most of the reviews on here are from people that live outside of town and probably only ate here once. I will give you a locals point of view that has been eating here my whole life. The chicken salad is good but that’s about it. I recommend that you buy it by the pound if you plan on getting your food to go(it’s about $ 2 more than a sandwich). You can get a burger and/or a hot dog just about anywhere and their take on both is average. Fries are usually cold because they use the super cheap frozen ones. Sometimes the service can be painfully slow and they mess up your order often. It’s the best place to grab lunch in that section of North Hills.

For a quick burger & fries, this is a GREAT burger joint!!! We found by mistake, stopping at the nextdoor Starbucks(after finding NO parking in the very close-by ‘trendy shopping area’ by the other Starbucks &5-guys) and we were so pleasantly surprised! I think price for burger & fries is GREAT — think about 5-guys being around $ 7 – 8 for just a burger folks, nothing else included! I expected average and what we got was AWESOME. In fact, these might be the best french fries AND fried pickles I’ve ever had! Gal(owner I think?) was SO friendly and accommodating, really went the extra mile to insure we were happy. Introduced us to a popular ‘orange-aide’ drink that was DELISH! All the food was cooked great and was tasty — more than expected and at a great price for all the food. Restrooms also in good condition. Thanks for a nice surprise — this’ll be a new ½ way home stop on our road trips from now on!!!

Pharaoh’s offers a selection of burgers, hot dogs, chicken, Philly cheese steaks & fries. I had a classic cheese burger with fries which was enjoyable. I like the restaurant’s theme and how all of the menu item names go along with it(I believe I had the King Tut burger combo). However, it’s very small inside with only two tables so there isn’t much room to dine-in. Tables are set up outside, which we enjoyed on a nice day. A solid spot to grab a burger.

One word: meh. This was my first visit, and I’m sorry to say, likely my last. The food is okay, no major issues. But the service. .. another story. Wildly inconsistent is a bit of an understatement. Hubby and I arrived to a mostly empty place, one person ahead of us in line. We ordered a wrap, a salad and two drinks. 20 minutes later, as we watched people who arrived much later than us get their food, we still had nothing. No drink, no food, nothing. We finally got a drink about 25 minutes in, and then our food miraculously arrived. We had to go check on it 3 times. If I was one of the lovely Midtown Ladies Who Lunch, this might be acceptable. But as a working stiff, I have to patronize establishments that value my time. This place, not so much. If you’re in a hurry, you may want to try somewhere else.

I had lunch with a friend here once, and I’m hoping said friend does not see this review, because she paid, and I was grateful, but the food was mediocre. The burger was nothing special. The hot dog was… nothing special. The fries were cold despite the long wait, and the hurricane(I believe that’s what they call their ice cream) was more ice than cream, and, somehow, the blandness of the ice cream stifled out the taste of the peanut butter cups in it. I didn’t know that was possible! If I had paid, I would have felt cheated.

Great little Raleigh burger joint. And when I say little, I mean little. I believe they have several other locations, but at this location, it was a struggle to fit our group of 4 at a table without seeming like we were in everyone’s way. That being said, the food is what you write home to mama about. I was most impressed by my burger which I had ordered with slaw and chili. I was expecting some sloppy mess that I would need to take a delicate approach at eating, but the portion and setup was just right. And delicious, too! If it’s a nice day, there is plenty of outdoor seating. This is also a popular take out location, so there are several options to make up for the inadequate indoor seating. The food, again, is what takes the cake. 4 stars!

Stopped here for lunch on Sunday. It’s located in a strip mall with Panera and Starbucks nearby and some shops. It is walk-in style so I assume it gets pretty busy around lunchtime on weekdays. They did have a few outdoor tables, so it was nice to enjoy our meal outdoors that day. The menu is pretty straightforward: a variety of burgers, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut french fries. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade and orangeade. The orangeade was awesome! My wife ordered a cheesesteak and I had a lousiana style chicken sandwich. Our friends had burgers. At first we felt like the meal took a while to be prepared, but we were really happy with what we got. Great flavors and fresh ingredients. It was also very reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. The menu is pretty straightforward, but their execution of the menu was great. I would definitely go back if I’m around that way.

Sticking with non-chained restaurants while visiting Raleigh, we tried Pharaoh’s as our last stop before heading back home. Great walk-in burger place with out door seating only. Bacon burgers, reg burgers, Philly cheesesteak, hot dogs… pretty cool. My burger was great and I loved the old-school crinkly fries. Priced right and super friendly service.

This was a surprise for me. I never really paid attention to this place, tucked between Starbuck’s and Midtown at North Hill’s Plaza, off Lassiter Mill Road. It’s a small place with little seating but cozy outdoor seating available. Service was extremely friendly and the food was top-notch. I decided to try the Ramses Hot Dog, which was swiss, mushrooms, and grilled onions with an her mayo. I am pretty stuck to my hotdogs with mustard and onions only but, hey, I decided to go crazy and it was a winner in my book. I’ll be having another one of these. I also had a fresh squeezed orangeade which was yummy too. I am so impressed with this place! Love it and will have to try their burger next. If I can get away from trying the Ramses Hot Dog.

Great restaurant. The chicken salad is to die for. We like to get a pound of it to go and eat it throughout the week. Pimento cheese is pretty good too. Boyfriend loves the chicken philly and the burger, I have yet to try because of my chicken salad addiction. My only complaint would be the short hours. They are geared towards lunchtime business so hard to get there for dinner or weekends. Super nice owners!

This is an American grill type of walk-in restaurant. No real seating to speak of, but they have made-to-order burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and desserts. You’ll have to wait a little longer, but it’s worth it. The item names on the menu follow the Egyptian schtick — Pharaoh’s Army, the Sphinx, etc., etc. Note: Asking for your burger«all the way» doesn’t include tomatoes and lettuce, so you’ll have to ask for those.
