Extra charge to slice your bagels? Rediculous! No thanks!

Bagel was good, but not happy that the employee who waited on me was adamant that I buy something else in addition to my bagel with crème cheese because of the $ 3.00 minimum on credit cards. I didn’t have any cash, I didn’t want anything else and I was embarrassed while I held up the line deciding what to do. I must have looked like a deer in headlights because the customer next in line handed the worker the cash to pay for my under $ 3.00 order. I was so thankful. I’ll be paying it forward.

I’ve been here twice so far and I gotta say, the bagels are absolutely delicious. I gotta recommend the onion bagel with egg, sausage and cream cheese. You definitely won’t be disappointed! It also has a very New York feel to it the moment you walk in. I was actually surprised at hearing most of the workers there talk in a thick New York accent. Hell, even most of the customers there were talking about why the Mets were better than the Yankees in a thick NY accent. Really felt like I was in the big city again. The price is also extremely fair for the quality of the bagel you’re getting. It’s a fantastic breakfast spot.

not a ny bagel but one of the better ones in Raleigh. What made this a «not» NY bagel was the size and the chewiness. If you’ve had a true NYC bagel, the outside will have a good bagel crust with the perfect amount of chewiness inside and the size is typically larger than your palm. this was more italian bread like and was roughly 3−4″ in size. I ordered bagel with lox and there wasn’t enough of anything. the girl making my order actually asked the other lady how many pieces of lox and she instructed her to remove some that was already placed on my bagel! I also asked for toasted and it was not. can’t say i was that impressed but if you’re desperate for a bagel, this is better than brueggers.

Bialy’s. Need I say more? I felt like I was on the lower east side as I sat eating my bagels. Love that you can buy challah, black and white cookies, and desserts for Passover.

As authentic as a New York Bagel & Deli can get. Period. 5 stars and two thumbs up. I am sealed as a customer.

We’ve had some major service/consistency issues there lately. We generally go on a Saturday or Sunday AM and the same girl is always working and she is very sweet but consistently screws up orders, forgets what you told her literally 5 seconds earlier, and is just generally slow as molasses. She’s very sloppy in making sandwiches and wrapping them, putting crunchy yellow tomatoes on things… it’s a mess. She is very friendly I just don’t know if she’s been poorly trained or just isn’t cut out for this kind of job. It’s been about 5x times we’ve had this issue. The bagels themselves are still great, and sandwiches are still very good with the exception of the truly awful unripe tomatoes. But service is important and they’re just really floundering in that area right now on the weekend AM shift. Still a solid 4 for bagels, 2(or worse) for service, so averaging out to a generous 3. Going to investigate some other local places, which is a shame, but if we’re going to go 1x or 2x a week and every single time we go the service is so bad we can’t get the right food or it takes way longer than it needs to, it’s probably time to look elsewhere.

The cannoli is 5-star, and if it wouldn’t absolutely wreck my health, I’d probably have one every day after lunch. I just can’t get behind making this my neighborhood place, though. Maybe I’m too Southern at my core? I’ve had to wait in line a couple of times and I’ve watched the staff carefully. I really, truly believe that their hearts are in the right place and they care about their customers, but their NY attitude is SO off-putting to me that I just can’t get over it. I’m always worried I’m going to make a mistake ordering or take too long to get my cash out, and they’re going to be frustrated at me. I am not easily intimidated and I’m not very socially anxious, but this place makes me both. Don’t get me wrong, no one has ever been downright rude. It’s just a general feeling of «what can I be bothered to do for you NOW?» from the owner/staff. If you are looking for NY Authentic, if you don’t find it here then you won’t find it anywhere in the triangle. For me, I like my Southern hospitality a bit too much to subject myself to this more than once a week or so. The cannoli is worth it that often since it’s literally a half mile from my office.

This place did not come across authentic at all, and it is not even close to the quality of an average big city style deli experience. To me, Boar’s Head Meats are what the masses buy at a chain super market deli counter, and not what you expect at a New York Style Deli. The venue was pretty unimpressive too, and my last visit was extra unpleasant as the line was too crowded, long, and slow. Even worse, the air was filled with smoke from something that must have burned, making it hard to breathe in the small congested space. The bagels were actually decent, but they do not even offer freezer bags for larger to go orders, which is definitely a big no, no in the bagel business, and perhaps the biggest blocker for me to come back any time soon even for a bagel take out order. Penny wise but pound foolish not to offer plastic freezer bags…

Authentic NY bagel shop. Great bagels, Boar’s Head meats, NY accents too. It’s worth the stop and better than Brueggers!

Best bagels in NC! I’m from NY and this place brought me back home. Only thing I would say is this place gets packed! Long lines but worth the wait! Bagels sell out quickly if you go afternoon they might not have what you want!

Chaotic. While I wish that I could take this opportunity to review the food, I was not afforded that chance due to the extremely slow service at 10:00am on a weekday morning. When I arrived, there were two people ahead of me in line, and a couple waiting for their order to be completed. There were at least six employees working on various tasks, including one cashier. I waited for 3 — 4 minutes, but it was apparent when the initial patron was finally rung-up for a simple order, and the cashier went to the back to assist with some preparation, that I was in for the long-haul. So I departed. I understand that they also have baked goods, etc, and that some of the employees are required to assist with those tasks. And that even efficiently run businesses sometimes don’t fire on all cylinders. So, I may try again. If I do, I’ll be sure to update my review.

Oh my I just found a little piece of Brooklyn in NC — why haven’t I heard about them before? I’m glad I fiund them now the atmosphere, the staff, the food. … super yum yum, and I was in and out in 5 minutes. They have all sorts of treats, cookies, cheescake, boars head deli meats(my favorite)… once I go back a few times I will do an update ;)

What? Why has No One told me about this place, is it because NoOne and I have been so close? Or is it because Everyone Knows I am NO fan of Boar’s Head Meats!!! Huge Disappointment when I walked in and saw the«Boar’s Head» sign! What’s in a NAME? If you had said the name of this Business I would have said«Sounds like a Chain» and I have been wrong before! Owner Bob Nurrito comes from a long and distinguished line of New York Bakers and Pastry Chefs. His Grandfather was in the business, and a highlight of his Father’s 60-year career was baking a New York-style CheeseCake that was served at the Wedding of Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow in 1966. What! I never knew Mia Farrow was married(I knew about that one guy)! Black&White Cookies(I’m guessing they make these here) Fantastik!!! 5 Unilocal stars We got a Breakfast Bagel with Bacon Tomato Cream Cheese Lettuce and More… Delicious! Garlic Bagel 100% I’ve never been to NYC so I have little to compare this too, this may even be my first time reviewing a Bagel

I didn’t get the authentic«New York deli experience»(as one reviewer described) AT. ALL. First of all, if a New York deli took THAT long with people’s orders, they’d be out of business in two days. The line isn’t epically long because they are awesome, it’s long because they take a loooong time. The lady who took my order was like me Monday morning before coffee. Maybe she partied hard last night or maybe she was new but either way — I sincerely hope that wasn’t her A-game because she was struggling(and got my order of 2 plain bagels with cream cheese wrong). Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but I don’t really see the big deal. The only thing that reminded me of NYC was the insane amount of flies in the place. Kind of reminded me of a hot, muggy New York subway station in August. For now, I’ll stick with Brueggers. I remember when this space was called Manhattan Bagel(from the first time I lived here in the 90s). It can’t be the same place — there’s no way. This could also be why I was disappointed. I was expecting to taste nostalgia but just got a plain, boring bagel. Public service announcement: if you are paying separately from your friend/family member who you walked in with then ORDERSEPARATELY!!! My sympathies to the poor lady who had to deal with the idiots in front of me who decided at the last minute to divide their already complicated order. #icant

I am so incredibly thankful to my new boyfriend for introducing me to this shop! Just one more reason he’s amazing. I’ve been in Raleigh for close to 2 years and hadn’t found a decent bagel. Never would I think I’d find a real! bagel tucked away in a tiny strip mall in North Raleigh. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Fantastic staff, amazing bagel and warm friendly space.

My god, this place is just like a corner joint in NYC. Everything about it screams NY/NJ and for good reason. They make some damn good bagels and have a selection that is not found anywhere else in the N. Raleigh area. Concerned about customer service? Well, to that I say this: If you run a NE bagel joint, then you’ve gotta behave like it and they keep it as genuine as possible. No sir and ma’am for me, and I like it. Perhaps a little abuse at the local bagel show might be good for us Southerners. Keeps us fresh.

These bagels are awesome! I’ve never had a ‘bad’ customer service experience per se, but the other reviewers are right, they move fast and their main goal is to get you your food and take the next guest. They’re from New York, do you expect southern hospitality? For how small a shop it is, they get busy, and that means the line grows out the door quickly. I highly recommend the bacon and chive cream cheese. Which really just means chive cream cheese with bacon on top. Guys, it works.

If you are from anywhere near New York, this is the place. It’s like being home. Best bagels, but also stop in for their fresh pizza dough! Pop it in the freezer and thaw at home for pizza night. Everything is delish, but I’m uploading a photo of my Mother’s Day special from this morning: everything bagel with lox all the way. AH-MAY-ZING!
