You know when you are drunk and you would eat anything? Think again, as I’m sorry but this is the worse Chinese food I’ve ever eaten! Pre-cooked, over-cooked dumplings and egg rolls, not to mention the lo mien was a wad of glue!

I ordered the shrimp lo mean combo and I added water chestnut and baby corn at no additional cost. It was so yummy. The egg roll was a little blah but I didn’t come for that. The lo mein and rice was delicious enough and I will be back.

Finally got to try this place! The first time I had no cash. The second time I came on a Monday. But anyways, I called my order in. I ordered house fried rice & an order of 4 wings. They were really nice and my food was ready fast. Good price too. I enjoyed my meal, wings were great. Large portions too. I will definitely try this place again

Place is literally a hole in a wall. But the people are very patient and kind to you and the food smells and taste amazing. Just give it a try definitely will be coming back. FYI(they do not take credit or debit cards smh)

Went here for the first time tonight. We got the sesame chicken(large with white rice), hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, and orange chicken. The chicken was much better than the chicken I usually get from chinese places and the soup was great. The only thing that was lacking was the crab rangoon which was kind of soggy. They gave us a whole lot of fortune cookies and the price was right, although they are only taking cash. I would go again.

Pleasantly surprised. When we moved to this side of town we’ve been looking for a new standard and this did not disappoint. Sesame chicken and vegetable lo mein were both very tasty and the egg drop soup was up to par. Only downside is cash only. Id go back!

Came by the New China King recently based on: 1. Very close to home. 2. Recommendation from friend. 3. Always looking for that ever-elusive hole-in-the-wall perfect Chinese take out place. Well, let me tell you, after trying virtually EVERY Chinese take-out joint in Raleigh, I was very pleasantly surprised by this little place! I usually gauge my Chinese food experience by usually only a few«standard» dishes, Lo Mein and General Tso’s chicken. I love many other Chinese dishes, but these are the ones I use as a «test». The pork Lo Mein was mighty tasty, darker and with a decent, slightly salty bold taste, not bland and too mushy like so many other Chinsese take-out places. I usually compare various Lo Meins with that of Golden Dragon on Hillsborough street(which is famous there and totally awesome!), and New China King’s stacks up pretty well. Maybe not quite as good, but pretty damn close! The General Tso’s chicken was mighty tasty too, fried just right without too much damn gloppy breading. Sauce was sweet, of course, but not too runny, and not completely drowning the chicken. Reheating value of General’s chicken is important to me, and this didn’t disappoint! Wasn’t soggy at all, was firm and sticky and delicious! The staff there was two absolutely adorable Asian ladies, constantly smiling and very friendly. The prices were pretty much right on, about what decent Chinese take-out should be. The lady who took my order didn’t even let me give her the change part of the bill… I had my hand full of coins and started to count out 35 cents, and she said, «no no, no worry about it!» I said I have it right here, and she kept telling me no, no worries! Friendly people, good food, good prices, and close proximity will keep me coming back to try other dishes they have. This place compares well with my other favorites, Golden Dragon and Beansprout, but its much closer. It’s stuck right beside a busy Wal-Mart(which I don’t much care for), but this place has proven so far to be a promising quick go-to Chinese take-out joint.
