Mr Tire Auto Service Centers

I had been going here for a few years. Had great service each time until this last time. Found my windshield solution cover hanging off to the side. Had a bad oil smell for a fews days and then found out right before a vacation my windshield solution was not working and had to take in for repairs. Was told something fell down into reservoir. Thankfully it is a new vehicle and under warranty. So after this last experience, I will no longer recommend this location.

I came in for an oil change and to check the air pressure on a single tire checked.
One hour later I got a diagnosis as long as my arm about how nearly every thing on my truck needed replacement. I know the drill, it’s how they make money. But I’ll tell you, I’m not biting.
Not only that but the one thing I asked them to check, they didn’t till I asked them no less than 5 times. Not only that but AFTER I get the oil change the guy tells me he can’t check the tire because it’s too big for the tub. Why the hell did you say you could check the tire? Did you just look at it? He’ll I can do that!
Oil changed, check tire. That’s it, one request and I get a pain in the a$$.
I might as well have gone to jiffy lube.

Normally, I love to praise businesses… but with this one, if there were NEGATIVE stars, that’s what I’d give them. All they did was change my oil and balance my tires. Tires were fine… the oil? NIGHTMARE! When I got my car, there was oil pooled all around the oil cap (overfilled!) and had dripped all over the engine, on rubber gaskets, metal, everywhere. There was a HUGE oily black HANDPRINT on my leather driver’s seat and on the steering wheel. Careless, indifferent, poor job! Called the store, the assistant manager told he me was «Very sorry, I like my car to be clean, too. I understand how you feel. I hope that won’t keep you away from us». SERIOUSLY? Yes, it absolutely will. I specifically asked if there was any type of double check to make sure the techs did their job, but he said they «trust their techs» to do the job right. I believe a review of that policy might be in order. I do plan to call the manager when he returns (on Monday?). Very disappointed and will not EVER go back. Pick ANY other place but this one!

It took us a while to find this place as we were going by the former address that was still listed in Google maps. With 30 minutes to spare before they closed on a Sunday, they still took our car to get an oil change. It took them 20 minutes to change the oil and rotate the car tires. They didn’t go over anything that needed repair unlike other stores do. Can’t beat the price of $ 20 if you have a coupon. The staff said that during football season Saturdays after 1 PM is pretty empty. Good time to go if you don’t want to wait.

I have used them for Tires, Brakes and Oil Changes for many years. They always seem to get something wrong! Most of the time it is the Bill. The last two times was rotating the Tires to where I want them when buying 2 Tires. I paid $ 396 for 2 Tires. I wanted the Fronts put on the Rear and the New 2 to be Fronts… How hard is this? Well after waiting much longer than was told the car pulls around and the New are the Rear! This EXACT scenario happened last time with another car. I explain I specifically wanted the Rears discarded because one of them had a slight leak. They assure me they moved the Tires to where I stated on the second try and I should be OK. They Lied! A week later after paying almost $ 400 for 2 tires with an online price of $ 147.99 and Oil change (don’t get me started on the math here) my TP Light is on again. Was it too much trouble to fix this properly or lie and lose a long term customer. I now even doubt they changed the Oil over the years. Also, they lost a Clip on the Air Filter enclosure. I never asked them to check this, but it is part of the UpSell to take it out and show me I need it. I buy them for $ 7 and they want to change it for $ 30. Had enough. Goodbye!

I took my car in for a full set of tires, oil change and car inspection. Very, very nice group of guys. Wonderful customer service. Didn’t try to beat me out of my money. Actually juggled deals/​coupons around to determine the best total price. I think I’ve found my go-​to «home-​based» maintenance guys!

Called up & was told I could come in for a tire repair
After we arrived was told in a very rude, dismissive manner, they were too busy to do the job.
They in no way wanted or cared to have us in their store, so I gladly obliged them & left.
After recent events, it’s disappointing to experience those same attitudes here in Raleigh.

I got a flat tire abt a mile away. I drove as much as I could but then called Mr. Tire. They sent a guy .5 mile to meet me to put air in my tire so I could get to their shop (no charge!). They fit me in and quickly determined that I needed a new tire, a bit rare, and so they ordered it. They then took took the nail punctured tire off and put the spare on (also no charge!). I called around to price compare. Two other places were a bit cheaper, but b/​c this place helped me out the day before, in an emergency, I got my replacement tire from them. A bit over priced, but good service.

My wife took the car in to get a basic nail repair in one tire. The set if tires were purchased from this location. Instead of actually looking for a nail, they simply told her that she only needed air in the tire. The added some air and sent her on her way. She called me to tell me what happened. I told her to return to the shop and have them actually inspect the tire for the nail. This time, they actually pulled the car into the bay and looked at the tire. They told my wife this time that the tire could not be repaired and would need to be replaced. I then took the car to Discount Tire just a few miles away and the tire was repaired for free. This shop appears to take advantage of women. Please be cautious!

What was supposed to be a 1 hour job, with an early morning weekend appointment, ended up being 4−½ hours of my day. First the mix up with the tire sizes — nobody (myself included) realized my car had staggered tire sizes and different sized rims on the front/​rear axles. Nobody’s fault I guess.
In the meantime, while sitting in the waiting area, I listened to the store manager tell customers «There’s no money in tires» numerous times in order to avoid getting beaten down on the price, and I don’t blame him, that’s okay because a store is in business to make money and be profitable and put food on the table. That is, until I got pulled into the back to look at the brake lining on my Z. Next thing I knew I was being presented with what seemed like an astronomical quote for new brakes, rotors, sensors, a brake flush and seemingly more for my Z.
I could see plainly the car was going to need new pads etc. in the near future, however, after hearing about how the company can’t make money doing tires I became very skeptical about the pricing on the brakes and decided to get a second opinion from someone who specializes in BMW’s. You see, the thing about some of these BMW’s (like mine) is the brake sensor. Once that sensor alerts the driver to the brakes needing to be replaced, one still has about 2000 miles (give or take depending on the driver and their style of driving) before the car is dangerous to drive. The sensor had not lit up yet and I wasn’t about to be pressured into making a quick decision to have the work done.
A week or so later I received a coupon in the mail offering 10% off that quote — I thought to myself «Self? Why didn’t they offer that discount at the time they gave me the original quote?“and I answered myself «Self, because it seems like they were trying to play off of a sense of fear and disaster to have me hurry up and get the job done right then and there and pay full price while it was still on the lift and the tires were already off of it.» Let’s go back to the manager’s discussion in which he told a potential customer several times «There’s no money in tires!» Apparently there’s good money to be made in brakes.
I ended up going to where I normally have my Z serviced and had the job done for nearly 30% less than I was quoted at Mr. Tire.
So, the moral of the story isn’t limited to this store — any place that tries to pressure one into making a quick decision by playing off of the potential for an immediate safety hazard is one I steer away from. I generally know my own cars (except I didn’t know the rims were different on this one), I’ve been under most cars I’ve owned. I’ve worked on most of them, and I have them serviced regularly. I generally know when something is wrong with them, especially when it comes to brakes. I grew up fixing cars and farm equipment, my dad (a certified mechanic in another life) taught me how to do brake jobs and had me help him rebuild engines when I was very young. I knew what a torque wrench was long before a lot of today’s auto tech’s were a twinkle in their parents’ eyes.
Now, that’s not to say I’m not happy with the tires they put on my car — I’m happy with that and the price they gave me on them. I do hope they made a little money on those. I’m a fan of their tire service, but I’m not a fan of how this last visit played out otherwise.

Was in the area… forgot my coupon at home for an oil change. I have been a customer at the Davis Dr location for years (when they were Colony Tire too). So I decided to stop in and ask if they would honor my coupon. The answer was a resounding and rude no, and they let me walk out. I will take my business elsewhere. Done with Mr.Tire.

Went in for a free tire rotation. Friendly service and they did exactly what I came in for. They didn’t try to sell me anything extra. Would come back here again in a heartbeat. Plus they always have coupons for various services which is something I always look for.

Update — new manager and the service was so much better!
