After a very anxiety filled toenail removal from a different doctor about a year ago, I had a lot of trepidation about going to see another doctor for another ingrown toenail. I let it get very infected before finally I found Dr. Kathleen Fineco Newport.
I knew immediately that this would be so much different than the ridiculous pain that I went through last time I had my toenail removed. She is incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and had an amazing calmness about her that immediately put me at ease.
She was clear and concise about what needed to be done and was very specific about the procedure she was going to do to remove my toenail. From start to finish, she walked me through it exactly, told me what would cause me some pain and was very honest.
During toenail removal there is a series of shots she has to inject in the toe and even though I knew from past experience that this would cause the most pain, this time although it was uncomfortable, was NOTHING like I had gone through in the past with a different doctor. She really had me in control of the entire situation. If I needed her to stop, she allowed me to tell her to stop and continue when I felt ready… although I never had to.
The entire procedure took a very short period of time and was hardly painful at all. I couldn’t even believe it when she said she was done… I was shocked at how easy she made the whole thing. 2 days after the treatment and I’m in zero pain and the toenail is healing beautifully.
Besides that actual procedure, she was easy to talk to, I felt that I could be 100% honest with her and I really felt empowered with the detail in which she went over what she was going to do and what the after effect would be. I didn’t leave with any questions as you do with so many doctors. She truly is one of the best I have ever gone to. The 90 minute first time patient appointments gave me the time I needed and I never felt rushed or like she had something else she had to get to doing.
Hands down, the best experience I could have asked for when it comes to ingrown toenail removal.
