I dined there on a Sunday night with my family. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no wait when we got there. I loved the décor and I really liked being able to see what the food items looked like on the iPad. I had the shrimp and greats which were amazing! My husband had ribs and they were fall off the bone tender. We will definitely go back.

I dined here Saturday, 05⁄28 with my mother and a friend of mine. It was the first time any of us had been there and had heard good things. The restaurant is pretty good overall and I would like to go back again and try another menu item or two soon, but there were a few things, in my opinion, that detract from the experience. First off, I worked in restaurants as a server for about 5 – 6 years. So I know what it is they have to do and go through. But, the iPad ordering system? I was not a fan of it. I go out to a restaurant because I want someone else to do it for me. Well, what’s «it», you say? To me? Everything. YOU do everything. If I want to do everything myself in a restaurant and get overcharged for it, I’ll go to a fondue restaurant. But anything else and I want you to do it for me. Not because I’m lazy, but because I’m spending a lot of money and I want you to serve me. You do it. Not me. So that means coming over and checking on me and my table. It means filling my water glass. It means asking me all the time how I’m enjoying things or if I need anything more. It’s called service and you are in a service industry. Drop the iPad thing. It’s confusing, needs explaining(again, because you’re expecting to be served not do it yourself), and isn’t up-to-date with your current offerings anyway(I was told several items were not available). Also, Foothills Hoppyum draft beer a popular local beer selection that’s available at lots of local restaurants and I order it everywhere I go each time. $ 7.50 for a glass? I’ve never seen it anywhere else for the same size beer higher than $ 5.75 /glass. And that’s the highest. So that’s gouging to me in comparison and you know it. 30% more for the same beer than the highest market price? Please lower your prices or I’ll simply choose to leave this off my bill by not ordering it next time. The food was pretty good. The Reverse Seared Pork Bomb is what I ordered with the Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes. The pork was amazing… VERY tender… but the mashed potatoes were just so-so. I ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert and it was just OK as well. I’m biased there though… I am a fan of another bread pudding recipe I had at another restaurant one time and compare all to it. It hasn’t been matched yet, but Kamado’s was pretty good. I was highly impressed with the layout of the restaurant, the style, and the cooking process with the Kamado grills. I like that they are available for sale if you want to get one from them and I really like how they will take you on a tour of the restaurant and through the kitchen when your meal is over if you would like to. So kudos there! Try it out and see for yourself. It’s expensive, but maybe you’ll like it!

Went last night for the first time and it was great. Atmosphere was inviting with ping pong and corn hole games while you wait. after getting seated the waitress was very helpful in explaining the ordering method(which is awesome by the way and wished more resturants would offer this) and got me a sample of beer to help me decide which to choose. ordering was simple and helped us know we were sure of what we wanted. food came out quickly and tasted fresh and flavorful. soon after we were done we were able to quickly pay from the same tablet we had ordered from. best experience I’ve had in a while and will be back.

I did the curbside service. I don’t see what all of the hype was about(in my circle of friends). I wasn’t impressed with my experience. I ordered the chicken wings with that Jack Daniels sauce, or whatever it was. These wings were bland, had little to no seasoning, and were overcooked to the point where it had a burnt, over-charred flavor. On top of that, the wings were cold. After eating the 2nd wing, I was done. I didn’t even touch the slaw/salad that came with it because it was gummy and wasn’t fresh. I honestly believe that they give you old stuff they’re about to trash, whenever you do the curbside service. I may try the actual dine-in experience the next time, if I decide to give them another chance. Hopefully, they provide better food when you dine-in. I’m undecided if I’ll return or not. First impressions mean alot.

Tried this place today for the first time with the girls. They were running a lunch special consisting of a choice of ½ flatbread with a side salad or soup, We all got the special with different flatbreads: Ocean Blast, #12 chicken, and the short rib, all with salad. The food was good. We all tasted each other’s flatbreads and I didn’t find one better than the other, just different. The short rib was the most interesting in my opinion. The salads were small but included a bit of roasted red pepper, radish, grape tomato, specialty lettuces and came with the Arnold Palmer vinaigrette which was lemony and light, just like the server described. We all finished everything we ordered, so the portions were appropriate for the $ 7.95 price. Beer was $ 4.50 for a Bud Light bottle — way overpriced! I got a 12oz, $ 3.50 Miller Lite draft on special, which I don’t consider a special but it was cold. The iPad ordering system — not a fan. I’m «technology competent» but the one time I used the device to «need a server», that didn’t happen. Our server was good, but she came over to do the normal things, clearing, answering menu questions, etc. I did attempt to order another draft beer, but the one listed was at $ 3.50 which was not the $ 3 price I was quoted originally(that was a mistake, but one girlfriend had a Miller Lite bottle and I didn’t see that either). I will try Kamado Grill again, but I think I’ll go for the salmon/beef/pork dishes to get a better feel for their grill specialty.

I have been here a few times and I have loved it each time. This is a meat lovers dream for food. 1) It is an eco friendly restaurant. There are live trees inside. 2) The staff is fantastic. They are polite. They are extremely helpful in using the at table ordering system. No once has my glass been empty. 3) EVERYTHING is fresh made. Nothing here is fried. Nothing just sits on the grill waiting to be distributed either. I have taken the tour and seen this for myself. 4) Food– What to order from my point of view A. The wings. OMG so yummy! So at Kamado you get the whole wing. Unlike other places I have been that promised jumbo wings, Kamado delivers. Get the buffalo flavored or the bourbon wings. Have the blue cheese. This comes with pickled okra and pickles that have been grilled. B. Four words for potato lovers, Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes. Yes these are grilled in a cast iron bowl and then served to you. Probably the best restaurant mashed potatoes I have ever eaten. I order these and the wings as my meal. C. The cocktails. Bloody Marry and the Berry cocktail. Yum yum. Also the beer selection is large. D. I can’t have it, but everyone else swears by the molten chocolate cake. It is grilled and then topped with ice cream. I watch them eat it in sadness. The sorbets, particularly the raspberry when it is in season, is also very good. I will warn you though. Make reservations if possible. If you don’t you might waiting a long time to get a seat. It is a little pricey, but this one is worth it.

Fun fun vibrant atmosphere !!! Went on a Friday evening for the first time. Heard great things and this placed lived up to my expectations!!! I ordered the Chicken Wings appetizer with a side of Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes. My mom ordered the The Burger with a side Salad. You basically order your food on an iPad placed at each table. You can request refills on water through this tablet. Place your order and customize it to fit your specific needs. They have servers but they’re mostly there to bring out food, drinks and to assist in the ordering and paying process. Cool idea. Our servers name was Nate. He was such a joy !!! Friendly and very sweet. My order of wings came out and I wasn’t too into them because they were tough to separate(pull apart) to eat, and since it was smoked and grilled the meat near the bone had a pinkish-red color to it. I didn’t feel comfortable eating it because I couldn’t enjoy like I wanted paranoid I would wake up the next day sick because my wings weren’t actually done in fact. So I let Nate know. He quickly understood and offered another dish. I then ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Oh my gosh !!! The best !!! It was soooooo good !!! Shrimp were cooked perfect and the local Greensboro, NC grits were delicious !!! If you go here you MUST order the Shrimp and Grits !!! My mom really enjoyed her food, oh and my smoked gouda mashed potatoes were the BOMB too !!! Will definitely be returning to this restaurant as I can see it being one of my favorites!!!

I’m giving Kamado Grille four stars for the food but the service would be rated 2 stars. I had read all of these reviews about the use of technology to order your food and how that set Kamado Grille apart from other dining experiences. I made an online reservation for 6pm, and we arrived right at 6pm. The restaurant wasn’t full and I attribute that to it being a Tuesday night however we were seated near the outdoor area where a church meeting was occurring. Our server who didn’t provide his name came by to inform us about the network being down and he had to use an old school pad/pen to take our orders. I don’t know if the menu they gave me had less of a selection that what is typically offered on the IPad but we ordered a cup of gumbo, oysters, the pork chop with hickory beans, and ribs with gouda mashed potatoes. The food was excellent, in fact my pork chop was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend’s ribs were falling off the bone. I’d be remiss not to mention the gumbo which by far was the best gumbo I’ve had in this state. It was so flavorful and there was a hint of spice. If I hadn’t ordered the pork chop, I would’ve settled for a bowl of the gumbo. The only issue with this dining experience was the service. There were extremely long waits between each course then with getting our check. I would definitely dine here again and hope the service is better.

We headed to Kamado Grille on a Friday night ready to try something new. It was prime time and the wait was only about 15 minutes. After being seated we were shown the iPads that are used to order. The software was pretty easy to use. You could view the entire menu put into categories and a picture and description for each item. At the end of the night we did feel like it left the visit a little less personable. I ordered a cocktail– spicy grapefruit polamer– which came out pretty quickly. I wasn’t a fan-something I couldn’t put my finger on that I didn’t enjoy but I tried to drink it anyway. Eventually though I handed it back(I never do that), so they took it off our bill. Really good customer service. We put our food order through. The software made it really easy to customize our entrees. I got the 6 oz Filet Tenderloin with mushroom ragout and husband got the Reverse Seared Pork Bomb also with mushroom ragout. Our food came pretty quickly once we put our order in via iPad. My filet was delicious– juicy, tender, and actually cooked to medium rare as requested. It came with two really tasty sauces– a bourbon sauce and an au poivre. Husband thought his pork bomb was the bomb(sorry, I had to) and liked the bourbon sauce that it was smothered in. His pork was so tender I didn’t need a knife to try a piece. Our mushroom ragout left a lot to be desired. The mushrooms(oyster, shiitake, button, and portobello) were supposed to be sautéed in butter with shallots but I did not taste nor see any evidence of shallots. Some herbs would have gone a long way in making this a more exciting side. Minus a drink I didn’t care for and an unexciting side, the meat was delicious and there are more items on the menu we want to try so we’ll definitely be back.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere and service is great. I love the idea of ordering from an Ipad and being able to customize your food. I was in the mood for a burger, so the KG burger was an easy choice… I went with a side of the smoked gouda mashed potatoes. If you like spicy, the mashed potatoes are packed with a bunch of flavor. My burger was cooked a perfert medium well, piled high with caramelized onions and panchetta. The weekends are busy here and we has a 45 minute wait, but it’s definitely worth. I don’t think you can go wrong with any choices from the menu.

We celebrated Valentines at Kamado Grill this evening. The choices for the special dinner were thoughtfully conceived and prepared with their almost uncanny commitment to quality of product used and care in its preparation and cooking that far exceeds that which is typically served in restaurants these days. Chief Eric and his team are really on it. They are a five star team.

3.5 Our dining group decided to try Kamado Grille to celebrate 3 February birthdays. We are always up to try something new. We were greeted and seated promptly. We were a party of eight and we sat at one of the tall tables. Seating was a little tight and hard to get in and out of without disturbing your neighbor if you were sitting in the middle. But, that would be anywhere I suppose. The décor in the restaurant is impeccable. Very clean and casual. You can order either electronically or the server will take your order. If you are a large party and you want seperate checks like we did, you are better off utilizing the skills of the server. Now if I was going to rate on service alone, I would give 5 stars. Courtney was our server and she was awesome. She was so pleasant and patient with us first timers. There were a few things that went wrong with the orders but she was quick to make good on it and in a very professional manner. If management at Kamado Grille read Unilocal reviews, please give due recognition to Courtney, she was wonderful. For shared appetizers we got the grickle and cheese board, some crab cakes, an ocean blast flat bread and a short-rib flat bread. Both flat breads were very tasty, and meant to be an entrée, but it makes a good app to share. A little pricey for what you get, but tasty nonetheless. The crab cakes were good but I’ve had better, they need to have more of an outer crust and a better balance on the seasonings. Still, nit bad. The grickle and cheese platter was nice, pickles had a great flavor and I loved the tapenade. On to the entrees, and this is where we ran into some problems. I will preface by saying I chose the salmon and it was mouth wateringly delicious. The gouda mashed potatoes also good, and there was high praise for the grilled vegetables. One of our diners had the lamb lollipops as her entrée, and it too was pretty perfect. The other 6 diners had steak and everyone’s steak was, from what they asked for, underdone. I have worked in both the restaurant business and the deli business, and I do know what constitutes a rare, medium, medium well steak, etc, so I’m not misunderstanding the terminology. A rare steak was brought out and was cold, not even warm on the outside. I know they are not hot on the inside when rare, but the outside should at least be warm. 2 steaks that were ordered medium came out rare and one that was ordered medium well came out medium. The other steak eater seemed to get his steak the way he wanted. 2 diners ate their steak anyway, wasn’t a big deal to them, but 2 had to send it back to be cooked more. On the plus, everything was made right with a smile, great service from Courtney once again. But because of the steak mishaps I cannot rate any higher, although I really want to. When a place prides itself on its grill skills, this is really kind of not so good a thing. Once things were made right though, everyone was happy. Dessert… oh dessert… Maple Bacon Ice Cream OMG slap your mama good! Hint — ask for some of their bourbon sauce over it — ice cream nirvana! Blueberry cobbler and chocolate cobbler also delicioso! Birthday desserts were comped — very cool. So would I go back? I surely would, that salmon was awesome, but I think it might be hard to get the steak eaters to go back, they’d be afraid their steaks would be underdone again. So Kamado Grille, there is room for improvement, but still a good experience all things considered.

I have been eying Kamado Grill for a while since the unappealing Lucky 32 was finally replaced near my parents house. With a restaurant advertising most of their cooking on speciality Kamado Joe Grills and a wide variety of tap beers. The space is a complete 180 from the Lucky 32 space. It has a natural, organic vibe mixed with new age technology as each table has its own iPad for in the moment ordering if you don’t want to wait for your waitor. We used the iPad’s to take a closer view of the menu items, even found some hidden treasures not mentioned on the paper menu! My pork chop was good, but the cabbage and veggies were great done on the grill. Especially paired with one of the draft beers. The miso salmon looked good too! For dessert we had chocolate cobbler with pecan ice cream. Ask for two scoops! Overall good experience, well priced. Especially drinks. Nice space and take out available. Service was great if not a little slow. Definitely worth a try!

So I revisited Kamado in the hopes that I would be impressed, and I have to say they did do much better. We came on a Monday night so the crowd was light, but I loved our experience guide/server. He was great and I have to admit, I’ve never had so much soda refills done in one meal. The food was also much better this time. The pork bomb was a very hefty portion and we were ultimately unable to finish the pot pie or pork bomb. I’m not a huge fan of the sauce/rub used on the pork… it’s a very heavy spice that neither we nor the server could recall the name of. I did love my chicken pot pie. It came out in the cutest little cauldron and they made the top from flaky pastry dough which was delicious. I wish they had wrapped the pie contents in the dough actually. I would definitely recommend the chicken pot pie for a cold night – perfect way to warm up! I’m much happier with my experience at Kamado, so I’ll venture back to try more of their flatbreads and entrees!

Their service bumped them up to 4 stars. Food was flavorful, yes, but also super salty. I like drinking water but not when its to resolve the aftermath of high sodium intake. I got their kg king wings with their bourbon sauce. My friend got their reverse seared pork bomb with smoked gouda mashed potatoes. My wings were huge. However, the sauce on it was both too sweet and salty if that makes any sense. Also, meet was too chewy and parts of it seemed undercooked… My friends entrée was tasty but for a dish that’s slow cooked for 6 hours it was pretty tough in my opinion. The smoked gouda mashed potatoes was perfectly done! Loved the iPad service format. We were thoroughly taken care of at all times. Atmosphere is beautiful. With the fountain, plants and skylight, I felt like I was eating outdoors without the humidity or mosquitoes. It’s also super spacious so bring on the large groups! Fyi, they have cornhole boards and a ping pong table outdoors for you to play on post-dinner!

I came prepared to be unimpressed — I’m not a huge fan of basic barbecue and I’d heard that all of their food was cooked on specially designed Kamado grills. I was pleasantly surprised in almost all respects by the food as well as the layout and concept of this restaurant. The architecture is subtly sophisticated and comfortable, giving a sense of wide-open spaces and an outdoor patio feel. The food definitely showcased the capabilities of this style of cooking, with some of the best slow cooked pastrami and pork I’ve had in a very long time. The staff is friendly, professional and eager to please, so if you have difficulty with their tableside POS ordering system — I did, with some confusing glitches that weren’t intuitive to figure out how to get past — they will gladly assist. They also went out of their way to cater to my allergy/sensitivity, and were very gracious in doing so. Chief culinary officer Eric Gephart clearly knows his business, and perhaps even more importantly, has refocused his restaurant concept to be people centric and human resources centric. That is an absolute stunner in the restaurant industry, something that just isn’t being done anywhere as far as I know. The food clearly isn’t suffering for it, with some impeccable dishes hitting the table. Not every dish was to my taste — I felt that the sauces and dressings were sweeter and simpler than I prefer — but I can not fault the cooking techniques, which were excellent. Meats were tender and juicy, and the seafood was done just right. To my surprise, I find myself strongly recommending this restaurant and intending to return soon. I’m not normally a fan of fad and gimmick restaurants, but Kamado Grille has actually created something very special and unique here that is well worth the visit. Five stars and thumbs up, despite a few glitches that are still in the process of being smoothed out. I predict major success on the horizon for Kamado culture in the restaurant industry.

I really enjoy this restaurant and glad to see they are doing so well. At least every time I go it is packed full of people. They seem to handle the pace well but always have that frantic, all hands on deck feel about it when we go ! The taste is what keeps me coming back as well as The value, the variety and the quality are also why I return to eat here. My fave appetizers are the oysters and lamb chops(which is an entrée portion to me if you add sodes, but comes with cheddar cheese grits !) For entrees, the salmon. the pork bomb. steak coulete. They have a new dessert .key lime pie on the grill, didn’t try it as I had no room for dessert. but next time ! I gave 4 stars because I think they can amp up the cleanliness, especially near the chefs counter. Wipe down tables before you seat people. But perhaps so busy, you miss the small things.

I was excited to check out Kamado Grille after all the buzz they generated with their soft opening. I went for lunch with a friend and immediately fell in love with the space; modern yet very comfortable and inviting. The chairs are probably the most comfortable restaurant chairs I have ever sat in. The staffs is super friendly and are clearly really excited about the restaurant. Our server demonstrated the iPad ordering system, was attentive and overall a great ambassador for Kamado Grille. We ordered the Ocean B.L.A.S.T flatbread($ 13) and the Lobster Roll($ 14). The flatbread is like a deconstructed shrimp taco with lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, cheeses and the signature KG sauce. It was delicious. The Lobster Roll was a disappointment. First, it was a mess with huge pieces of Romaine poking out everywhere, covered in KG sauce with lobster plopped on top. It was definitely thrown together. Second, it was served in two hotdog rolls, not the artisanal roll pictured, and while not a big deal, both rolls were burned. There was a decent amount of lobster which I picked off and left everything else. The side of red quinoa«super salad» was suburb. Overall, I chalk it up to opening day pains. I’ll give it another chance or two and hopefully we’ve found a new spot since it is in our neighborhood.

I had the distinct pleasure of attending the soft opening for lunch. The parking lot looked jammed when I arrived so I was prepared for a little bit of a wait. That was okay because in the meantime I got to learn all about the charcoal fueled Kamado Joe ceramic grills from a lovely employee in the retail section. You can actually purchase one of three sizes available(they even have a mini one that’s as cute as can be!). They’ll deliver it, set it up, and even give you a cooking lesson! With how much I’ve spent over the years on various gas grills that I use until they fall apart I could have paid for the mini by now! These come with a lifetime warranty, btw. I also got a quick behind the scenes tour of the grills in the kitchen, so got to see them in action. On to the food! They had a limited menu for the soft opening, but there was still a number of choices from salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, plus a side for the sandwich. Drink was included and it was all on the house. Thank you! The descriptions sounded marvelous and are so varied it was hard to choose so I’ll have to return soon! I went with what seemed like a classic, a burger. The KG is quite a burger presented on a toasted house made challah roll that with everything piled on is so big I had to cut it in half to find an in to eat it! It’s got a bit of a kick to it with pepper jack cheese and their house made KG sauce. It’s also topped with pancetta, caramelized onions, marinated tomato slice and very fresh leaf lettuce. I ordered it medium rare, but it wasn’t anywhere near that so I was a little disappointed. I mentioned it to my super nice waitress who said she’d tell the kitchen. Much to my surprise, the owner came out, apologized and then sat down at the table. We chatted for quite some time about how this all came about and his wife even joined us when she arrived at the restaurant. Really nice folks! Although he’s been in the restaurant biz for years, he’s a backyard bbq guy too and had been using this type of grill at home. Everyone loved the food so much over the years he and a friend decided to build a place just featuring the grills, so there’s no other place like this anywhere. How cool is that?! They have a very unique niche that not even the Weber restaurant in Chicago can compare to. Looking forward to visiting again and trying more on the menu!
