Flanders is back, with a new name and a cooler full of beers instead of a bartender. Technically, the«real» Flanders gallery that inhabited the space FEED gallery now uses, just moved to the other side of town. I’ve been keeping an eye on FEED for quite sometime now, with absolutely no social media presence and viewings by appointment only, I thought I might never be able to venture inside. However, they FINALLY opened their doors to the public this past First Friday, celebrating the opening of two artists with the exhibit«HAPPYHOUR: NEWWORK by ALEXISPRICE and SHAUNRICHARDS.» The exhibit was part of the Peregrine Projects, an artist driven group with a lot of passion: wanting to expand people’s art programming beyond art events, art walks, etc. You could easily walk into the gallery and think it was still Flanders, things haven’t changed much, if at all. The only noticeable different was the lack of a bar at the front; wine and beer was still available for this grand opening, but in a cooler in the very back of the gallery. I really wanted to talk to someone about the space or find out more information: is it also used as a events gallery? How do artists get chosen to show their work? Will they start opening during First Friday in the future? All these questions and more were left unanswered. I wish I could write a more informative review, but honestly, I don’t even know how you’d set up an appointment to view the work of art, although that’s the only way to view them during the week. If you’re dying to take a peek inside FEED, the good news is that you have at least ONE more chance, during the closing event on Saturday, August 15th from 7−10pm.
