This is one of the best places I have ever been. Not only do they have an amazing selection of virtually any game you could want, they also offer all the little supplies you need for your gaming habit, from figurines, dice, maps, etc. Anything they dont have, they can easily order for you. Events are well organized and fun to participate in, and its a great environment to just hang out with your gamer friends. Family owned and run by gamers, for gamers they understand our needs and wants. Plenty of space for bringing a group to play games, they have tables, couches, and small separate gaming rooms. Overall a very comfortable fun environment for everything from d&d to mtg.

Diverse selection! I would rather spend a little more here and support a local shop than save a few bucks. They have a whole section with cheap painted mini’s from around $ 1-$ 5 to easily add to the selection. A ton of books from newer editions to old, even comic books and tables to play.

Not a bad place to pick up a board game or pieces for your games. Service could be a bit better, it can take awhile to be acknowledged when standing at the counter. I have noticed that some of the gamers in the nearby rooms tend to be a bit rude like belching as loud as they can. This is not a place to pick up comics though unless you just so happen to need things for board games. My husbands comic pull was missing a few things so now we use another store.

This is place is the best! Very clean, very neat and competitive prices. They feature an extensive amount of Magic: the Gathering products including boosters from various sets, a large amount of singles and all the best brands of sleeves and deckboxes. While they did not have a single I was looking for, it was a bit of a strange one and not many places have it to begin with. From what I saw, I expect their tournaments to be competitive and to feature a great prize payout. Pat yourself on the back, Raleigh. You scored big time with Event Horizon.

Nerd paradise. If you are into gaming, comics, etc. you probably already know what type of stuff they sell. To that I might add the selection and layout are great. Lots of room for activities as well. Picked up some Pathfinder & Munchkin stuff, as well as a version of «Ticket to Ride» with a German twist on it. Very cool.

I’ve been coming here since it opened. I was skeptical at first as it was a new store, but once I started meeting the people I quickly become a loyal customer. The fact that this place has started to attract some of the long time gamers around the area away from other stores says a lot about it. They still have some work to do, but they are definitely on the right track and you would never know that it was the first year they’ve been open

As far as game/hobby shops go, Event Horizon Games has it nailed. I live in Greensboro and commute to work in Raleigh four days a week, so my visits are further apart than I’d like, but it puts every shop I’ve ever been in to shame. A little background: I started playing Magic in 1995 and quit in 2003 when I started college. During that time, I went to shops all over the southeast(primarily NC, SC, VA, TN, and KY). It came up in conversation with a new coworker and we started searching for shops near work — lucky us, Event Horizon is about 2 minutes from our office. When we first walked in I was impressed by not only the sheer size of the store and their play area, but that it didn’t smell like a sweat shop or look like the set of the movie Saw(as many shops tend to do — having light inside a shop seems a basic requirement, but working ones seemed to be overlooked at many of the places I’ve been to). That said, either side of the shop offers areas to play board games, table top games, card games, read comics, or just sit and talk. The shop has a LOT of natural light to illuminate the many sections of the shop featuring accessories, clothing, nearly any game you can imagine(check their website: ), as well as food and drinks. They have very competitive prices on everything and I’ve even elected to preorder items from them as opposed to some of the local places in Greensboro as a result. Events are all over the place and detailed on their website. They are open 7 days a week and running events every day. If you live in the area or are passing through looking for a neat place to run in, you’ve found it. The staff will make you feel at home and the store encourages you to look around and discover something new. Event Horizon Games gets my highest recommendation.

This place has some potential. Me and a friend stopped by on opening day to check it out, and they were still unpacking some of their merchandise for the shelves. Ran into one of the owners and he seemed super friendly and enthusiastic, even helped him move one of the display tables around. I have to stress that the layout is very open and well planned. There are several rooms off to the side with large windows and doors if you’d prefer slightly more privacy for a game session, and lots of space between the shelves while you’re browsing. This place doesn’t feel cramped at all like some of the other game stores I’ve been to. They seem to carry the usual assortment of Games Workshop paints and figures, Warmachine, Magic Cards, as well as some more rarely seen goods in these types of stores like chess boards and even comic books. They have a Keurig machine for coffee, and a big counter for drinks or snacks. There was an opening day Magic event going on while I browsed, and as we were leaving they had a Pathfinder group forming up as well. Two other games were being played in the side rooms but I didn’t get a chance to catch what they were. The store seems to have a decent number of customers already, and the crowd seemed pretty pleasant. Will definitely have to check it out again in a week or so to see how the store is after the Grand Opening
