Sadly, Epona & Oak closed their doors this month after years of providing a diverse outlet representing the works of numerous local artists and craftspeople. From massage therapists to jewelers, clothing designers to ceramics, Epona & Oak offered not only a venue to link creators to customers, but a true community. Their contribution will be missed.

Since it’s Shop Local Saturday, I want to put in a good word for Epona & Oak. It’s a great place to pick up jewelry/clothing/hand-made cards/ceramics/beauty products, all made by local artists and crafters. It’s definitely my go-to shop for birthday gifts — though I always end up getting myself a little something as well. The three sisters who own the shop are friendly, helpful, and loads of fun. E & O also offers spa services. I can only speak for the facials from excellent aesthetician Monica — she does great work and my skin always looks and feels divine for weeks afterward. Monica makes all the Ablutions products she uses, all of which contain natural and organic ingredients and smell delicious. Epona & Oak feels like a true labor of love, built by people who clearly love their community, and want to support all of the wonderful talent we are lucky to have here. So let’s support them right back!

I have had the lovely opportunity to watch Epona & Oak blossom into what it is today. The sister-owners have done a wonderful job bringing retail and wellness together while supporting local artists, hand-made goods, and thoughtful and beneficial services. Their business dream has come true and their passion, customer service, and support of their local community will make you love them too.

Best shop in Raleigh! This place has gifts for every occasion. Everything is handmade and awesome! There is an amazing selection of jewelry, a lot of great t-shirts, skirts, dresses, purses, wallets, etc. There a local line of skin care products, Ablutions, that is really great! They have some cute pottery, candles, cards and baby stuff, too! The owners are really friendly, helpful and fun! They also offer massages and facials. Massage therapist, Cheryl Hynes, is truly gifted and you’ll keep coming back for more. I visit Epona and Oak pretty much any time I need to by a gift for someone and I always end up getting something for myself, too!

This little shop is one of my favorite spots in Raleigh. It has a unique collection of local artists work, ranging from jewelry, to art, to stuffed animals, prints, clothes, or even soaps and candles. The people that work there are friendly and more than happy to answer any questions about the artists that create a lot of the stuff. All reasonably priced. I absolutely adore it.

This boutique is the best shop in downtown Raleigh(next to the city market) because it’s filled with a mix of hip gifts from housewares to jewelry. Most are functional, locally made and surprisingly fair priced. A worthy destination!

A happy marriage of two of my favorite places to go: spas and boutiques. How did I not know about this place sooner? Apparently they’ve only been open for a year, but with their prime real estate in City Market, I think they’re set up nicely to be an important part of the shop local downtown Raleigh scene. As I just happened in for some shopping, this review is not based on any of their spa services(though, believe me, I’ll be back to check those out!). You’re bound to find terrific gifts in here… LOVE the Flytrap screenprint tees(and would have stocked up except that I’d just gotten some over at Roulette in Carrboro! This designer is super-cute and you won’t want to miss the baby clothes especially — mini-tees and footie one-pieces with bunny rabbits and T-rexes on them. Almost makes me want to breed so I’ve a good excuse to buy them!). And the jewelry selection is really diverse. They also stock bath products, candles, artwork, and fun odds and ends like duct-tape-constructed wallets.
