Audio and Visual Experts Installations: 3 times Home 1: When my husband and I moved to Raleigh in 1998, we needed to hire a company to wire our home and install our home theater system. We already owned all the equipment we needed and it was less than 2 years old. However, many of the large audio video stores would only do an install if you also bought equipment from them. After striking out a few times we lucked upon a smaller, independently owned audio-video specialist, Dr. Video. After doing our research and getting another estimate, we hired Dr. Video to put in our theater system. Dr. Video had the lower estimate for the job. They arrived on time and took their shoes off when working inside my home. They also brought a large tarp and placed all their equipment and tools on it to prevent damaging the floors. They did an excellent job! The installers were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. Although they spent a few days in our house they left it as clean as when they arrived and the install was done perfectly! After about 2 years, we had to replace the receiver because it was fried by lightening. Steve, the owner, worked with us to pick out a new upgraded receiver and never pressured us to buy something outside of our budget. Because they did not have a huge warehouse we were concerned the pricing would be higher and we shopped around a bit. We were pleasantly surprised that they also had very competitive pricing. I’ve always felt that Steve has provided us with the best for our money. Dr. Video recommended we use a Monster Power device to protect against electric surges… a fancy smancy and expensive surge protector. The Monster Power device is the best and has given us peace of mind when there is stormy weather for over a dozen years. Home 2: After all these positive experiences when we moved to a new home in North Raleigh we once again contracted them to move and re-install our theater. We upgraded several pieces of equipment: the projector, the screen, and a computerized universal remote. Wow, we were extremely pleased with the install as well as our new equipment. At first, I was against the new remote. Say what? $ 500 for a remote? That’s crazy! But my husband was enamored with it so we got it. Now I love it too! It’s awesome and worth every penny. Finally a remote that I can completely understand… very easy to use and all the equipment runs off of 1 remote. No more remote clutter. It has a lighted touch screen so you can see what you are doing in the dark. We’ve had this remote for 8 years; consequently, it has a good lifetime too. Home 3: In 2008 we moved again. Okay, this time we got it right… you know the 3 rules of real estate… location, location, location. We love living in downtown Raleigh and should be here a while. The wiring of our system in this home, a condo, offered some challenges for Steve and his team of technicians. They had to fish wires through our ceiling around the sprinkler system. I was very, very nervous they would set off the sprinkler and flood our condo. But they worked very slowly and carefully to prevent any problems. Phew! So if you live in a condo, I would highly recommend Dr. Video. They have now installed many systems in various condos and have the necessary experience. We have now had Dr. Video do 3 different installations and numerous upgrades and they have left us extremely happy each time. The estimates are always accurate and they work diligently to get the job done. Steve is a perfectionist with high standards so our systems have always exceeded our expectations. He is also very patient in explaining how to use the equipment, never making me feel stupid. We have become friends with Steve, Dr. Video, and just love seeing their trucks around the neighborhood since we know that they are most assuredly doing another quality job and making a customer very happy. As the truck says: Dr. Video: «Never Stay Home Without Us!»
