If you haven’t heard the news about Domino’s lately, they recently revamped their basic pizza recipe! You must have caught a commercial where the hidden camera catches the focus group talking about the crust tasting like cardboard and the sauce like ketchup. And like any good marketer, Domino’s has turned all that criticism into a positive with their«new and improved» pizza! Intrigued, I had to give em a whirl especially since they’re running a special for a medium pizza with two toppings for $ 5.99! So it’s off to their website and 2 minutes later my order is in and their Domino’s Pizza Tracker is keeping me up to date on my pizza’s progress. Very cool stuff, I give em credit for their technology but uh, how does the pizza taste?! In all honesty, probably the last time I ordered Domino’s pizza was in a dorm room after a long night of drinking so I started getting nostalgic! The pies showed up on my door right on time and the delivery guy was really polite. Pop open the pizza box and my first thought is, not a bad looking little pie! The cheese is sort of orangish and there’s a good amount of topping. The first mouthful is good but I have yet to find a pizza I wouldn’t eat. Crust is fine, a bit thicker than usual thin crust and the sauce is a bit sweet and zesty. Overall a slightly better pie than what I can remember but not much different than what I ate years ago. So what’s the final damage? After taxes and a delivery fee we’re talking $ 14. With a nice tip, I ended up dropping $ 19 and that’s sorta the issue with Domino’s. You can pick up pretty much any pizza for less than that money and get a WAY better pie. But if you’re caught under a pile of books and immobilized, you’re better off dialing Domino’s and using their high-tech delivery service! After eating some of the best pies in Brooklyn and New Haven this year, let’s just say I’m not a total pizza snob. While Domino’s pizza ain’t bad, it’s certainly not nearly as good as most pizzas out there so it’s all about convenience my friend!
