The thing about Cook Out is that you’re paying for exactly what you get: a lot food at a cheap price. As far as fast food goes, you get the most food and more options compared to other fast food places. I’ve been here many times, and during my most recent trip, I ordered a tray with two cook out style hot dogs, cajun fries, a corn dog, and a side of a dozen hush puppies. I was strongly considering going all out and getting two corn dogs with my two hot dogs to make the ultimate cook out hot dog tray, but decided to go with their fries. The hot dogs are good here, and have nice smokey flavor. I got them cook out style, so they were loaded with chili, onions, slaw, and mustard. I also piled my fries on top to give it a little extra crunch. The onion rings are pretty good here as well. They have nice thick coating of batter that is fried nice and crispy. The hush puppies are my favorite side by far. For $ 1, you get a dozen freshly fried hush puppies. Every time I order a dozen, they always come out fresh and hot. Overall, Cook Out is a good option for quick and cheap fast food. Don’t expect the best quality, but you do get a lot of food. The milkshakes are also nice and rich here as well, which include whatever mix ins you want. I can’t wait until October when they have the pumpkin pie shake. I’m pretty sure they mix in an entire slice of actual pumpkin pie because you can taste all the crust and filling swirled into the shake.

Burger and corn-dogs like it is your neighbor’s back yard… very economical too.

Just left the restaurant and got home with my food. Service was quick and good, but the hotdogs I got both smell terrible when I try to bite into them. I’ve tried to call at least three times just to tell them to check their slaw(which I believe is the source of the smell) just to make sure they don’t serve a bad batch anymore. Can’t get an answer.

You can’t get a better deal than a Cook Out tray. It is a college student’s dream! For a super reasonable price you get lots of food(about $ 5). For the trays, you get your entrée and then your choice of 2 «sides.» And when I say«sides» at Cook Out, that doesn’t just mean the standard fries or onion rings like any other fast food place. You can get a corn dog, quesadilla, chicken wrap, or chicken nuggets too! And this is why Cook Out is amazing. Every time I get a Cook Out tray, I am so full and happy. My standard order is normally a cheeseburger tray, with a corn dog and onion rings as my sides. But I also love their hushpuppies. So in addition to our trays, we tend to order an extra dozen hushpuppies for $ 1! A DOLLAR! At this Cook Out location, our food is always hot and the service is very quick. By the time you pay for your food, they are handing it to you through the window. Also, their shakes are by far my favorite, because they are thicker than most other fast food restaurants. There are so many different choices that I always have trouble deciding which one to get. They also have seasonal shakes throughout the year. This restaurant does not have any seating available, so you have to resort to eating in your car or taking it home. This is a great place for late night food cravings!

Went through drive thru ordered 2 double patty burgers, cook out style. It was good but nothing amazing. I would say it tastes like an average burger with extra stuff on it. Maybe its just me but I’d say it would fall between a fast food chain burger and a five guys burger.

I simply don’t get it. Tried this place there times and each time food was dry and bland and really kind of nasty. Chargrill for me. Or Hardee’s.

Best Cook Out in Raleigh. The staff is always friendly and the wait is never long. I’ve been to almost all of the locations and they just seem to be a bit mediocre. It’s like the Capital Blvd. Cook Out puts a little more love in the sandwiches. I know the milkshakes bring everybody to the yard(there is really a little yard if you are walking to Cook Out) but I cannot partake. I’ll take your word for it. I will stick to the 99 cent BLT, bbq sandwich, fries… etc. Whenever I have guests from other states, this is the first stop on the way from the airport. I can still remember my first Cook Out meal. Sigh. I’m so glad they’re open so late. If you ever question why you need to stay in Raleigh…

I don’t think there’s anything I can say about Cookout that hasn’t already been said a bunch of times. It is hands-down our favorite fast food place. The food is consistent, service is always speedy and the prices are very affordable(seriously, about $ 5 a person with drinks and sides). Even though we’re fans of the trays and all the options(under $ 5), I typically order a grilled chicken sandwich, club style with no sides($ 4.30). It is a marinated grilled chicken breast with bacon that is always cooked perfectly(not limp and soggy like so many fast food places), a slice of tomato, cheese, lettuce and mayo on a hamburger bun. It’s filling and always hits the spot. It amazes me what Cookout can do with such a limited footprint; always a small building(packed with staff) and small parking lots, yet it all seems to work perfectly. Cookout is the place that we take all out of town guests to and they all leave fantasizing about opening a Cookout franchise at home. Oh, and try a milkshake. At any given time there are probably 40 or more flavors and always seasonal specialties.

Visiting the Raleigh area for the first time and turned to Unilocal for lunchtime ideas. Great reviews on Cook Out and was close to hotel. So glad we came to try it out. Great food. Cheeseburger, bacon cheddar dog, chicken wrap. Fries, onion rings and shakes were all great. And good prices !! Highly recommend that you stop by if you are in Raleigh!

I have loved cookout for the past 12 years and have two Cook Out T-shirts…and probably don’t need to say more. Very affordable, amazing burgers and hush puppies and their shakes are out of this world. Highly Recommended.

The best fast food you can get at 12AM. A lifesaver for late diners and snacks. And they really embrace the North Carolina chili and slaw style. Great on a burger or a hotdog.

I love cookout! In a way I’m glad cookout is only in North Carolina and a few other states because I am proud to say Cookout is originally a North Carolinian thing! So where to start? Welp the menu is vast! You can choose anything that you want from a footlong chili cheese dog to something low crab like a grilled chicken sandwich. However, the claim to fame is the cookout tray menu. What this is, is a combo deal ranging anywhere $ 4.59 to $ 5.00. You choose your base. Anything like a spicy chicken sandwich(my fav), regular BBQ tray, or a ¼ burger to name a few. Then you choose your two sides such as fries(get it canjun), hushpuppies, wraps, or a corndog. And then your drink from any coke products to the HUGE Sweet Tea! All for $ 4.59 or so. This is one of my favorite locations beside the Western Blvd location near State. However, I’ll be a bit weary traveling here late at night. BTW their vast milkshake menu! Is awesome: P

Where else can you get a Chicken sandwich, hush puppies, fries AND a coke for 5.00 bucks? NO Where that’s where! Even as busy as they always are the food is always hot, the coke is cold and the help is great. Just don’t ever tell me what makes the food so cheap.

Darn Good! Is Cook Out as good as Shake Shack, 5 Guys and In and Out? No but it has it’s own satisfying charm. The menu is bigger, Hush Puppies and Onion Rings are really good fast food. The shakes have been great, there are so many flavors that it can be overwhelming. The service is good at all the Cook Outs I’ve been to. The first time I went was overwhelming, because there are so many options and combos. The BBQ, Burgers, Shakes, Hush Puppies, and Onion Rings are all good. There are more options that we have not sampled Chicken, Dogs and Cheerwine are my major future must trys. It’s budget friendly, so you really can’t complain. The meal deals are budget friendly most cost less than a burger from 5 Guys. When we are here again we look forward to trying more of the menu.

The vital stats on Cook Out: They have all the milkshakes — all of them. You can get a corn dog as a side, if corn dogs are your thing. They offer a size of sweet tea large enough for my cat to fit into the cup. It is not a type of food meant to be consumed daily, but when you get the urge every bite is worth it!

So what can you get for $ 5 nowadays? Well at Cook Out on Cap Blvd you can drive off with a delicious barbeque sandwich with slaw and Texas Pete. A corndog and hushpuppies. AND a Cheerwine float with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Are you KIDDING me? Why would anyone eat at McBurger Hut? Yeah, Cook Out is local and does fast food right. Service is always friendly, fast and polite. And yes, there’s no seating outside of the seat in your car. But totally worth it. Love ya Cook Out, thanks for being some of the best cheap eats in the Triangle…

Sometimes you just need that quick, tasty hamburger and Cook Out provides. It is fast, cheap, and both times I’ve visited, friendly & helpful customer service. It is conveniently located to NCSU but far enough way that it is easy to get to. Also, it is pretty close to the Western Street exit, to boot! The dual-drive through is a good idea given how busy it can be during lunch — just watch out for those odd traffic patterns. I like that burgers are a normal portion size so I can get more of my calories from the fried accompaniments and shake! The onion rings are okay, hush puppies look a bit like mini corn-dogs but without the hot dog part. The corn-dog is simple but satisfying. I did not try the cole slaw due to a container failure(my fault). I did the watermelon shake based on others’ reviews and enjoyed its oddity — it seemed like a vanilla shake with chucks of watermelon in the bottom. Second time around did a Health toffee and reminded me of a McFlurry/Blizzard. Make sure to keep that spoon handy because there are some chunks too big to go through the straw, even if you turn red-purple-blue in the face trying to suck it through the straw. I will happily revisit and try new things on the menu on future visits when I need a quick meal or just craving those fast-food flavors.

Starting to become a huge fan of this place. The food is above average, served fast, and at a wonderfully cheap price. Get a combo for 4.25 that has a drink, 2 sides and a ¼lb hamburger. The selection of shakes that they serve is humongous. I’ve only tried a few but they taste great.
