I have 3 hungry boys so you need to be quick and good. I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein, Beef Broccoli and Pork Egg Foo Young. They were all hot, flavorful and delicious! I think this is the first place that we have found with good Chinese food since ovine from the West Coast four years ago. And we have been constantly looking.

Chicken wings & their beef and broccoli are our favorites. Wish they delivered! Only 3 stars because their General Tso’s doesn’t always taste as fresh as I think it should. We eat here often.

China Wok is a small restaurant tucked in the Food Lion shopping center on Lake Wheeler Dr. After getting some groceries, I went against my better judgement, succumbed to my laziness, and walked over for a quick dinner. The girl taking the orders was immensely impersonal and very off putting. The one cook was out front playing a computer game and kept insisting in «another minute» he would get in the back to start my order. My order was primarily all mushrooms and onions with a few pieces of chicken. I had requested my meal be made extra spicy and I can’t prove it but I believe they took that to mean no spice as the food was remarkably bland. The egg roll was decent though. Nice and hot. For a combination meal and a drink costing under $ 10, you get what you pay for. I’ve certainly had exponentially better but I can’t say this is the worst I’ve had either. I would just recommend you either skip this place and walk down to Checker’s Pizza and Subs in the same shopping center if you’re hungry and aren’t dead set on Chinese. Of course, if you’re dead set on Chinese, I am certain this isn’t the place you’d be going to anyway. I’d rather eat at any of the Chinese places in any of the malls in the area. After a combination of poor service and remarkably lackluster food, I will not be returning.

This is your typical strip mall Chinese place, but it seems very fresh and the family that runs it is very nice. The crab rangoon and dumplings are delicious. My only complaint is when ordering beef dishes; they definitely skimp on the beef and try to bulk up the dish with veggies which is a little disappointing. All in all one of the better neighborhood Chinese places I’ve frequented.

So I went to check out this place this past week, having driven by it at least sixty times and never venturing in the doors. I assumed this was a typical Chinese Take-Out joint, and I was right. The menu is about typical for this type of restaurant, but nothing reached out and grabbed me right from the beginning. The Chinese place I usually go to has a menu that covers four pages(front and back) so I guess I’m a little spoiled. I ended up choosing the vegetable lo mein, which was quite good. I’m not going to start making this my regular Chinese place(Pearl will always have a special place in my heart), but despite its lackluster décor and horrid location it’s actually a decent spot for some quick take-out.
