I came here for the disc golf. This was my first time and I’m pretty horrible at it right now BUT I thought this was pretty rad. There were other groups playing but it still felt like you had the whole place to yourself. We did ourselves a favor and skipped the pond par. We just knew we would lose our newly purchased discs and it wasn’t worth the sadness. I thought the location was really sweet and look forward to going again next weekend! Check it out! The playground looked pretty nice, but we don’t have kids, so I might not be an expert on that. Tennis court looks appealing too!

It’s a nice park, honestly though I don’t remember too much about the course itself. I do remember a couple of water hazards that I opted to not throw at but overall it’s mostly woods with some open courses. I do remember taking a few good pictures on Holes 2&3. Part of why I like disc golf is because it’s just so pretty to hang out on the courses usually. Quick tip about what I do remember… coming down Six Forks(from 540) you want to go past the park area on the map you’re following. Turn onto East Millbrook and then come up Sweetbriar to be at the entrance to the disc golf course. You have to go through a cute neighborhood and it definitely looks like you’re in the wrong place, right up until you get to the entrance of the park.

It’s got a run-of-the-mill playground; maybe a few more slides than average, but nothing special. There’re two basketball courts down the hill across the parking lot from the playground, and several well-kept tennis courts at the top of the hill. It’s got a couple of baseball fields, and there might be a soccer goal or two — you have to go through the playground, past the tennis courts, up the hill through the woods, and then back down and through a gate to find them. The feature of this park that not everyone is aware of is that there is a pretty good frisbee golf course hiding in the trees. If you’re playing basketball, or eating a picnic here you will likely see some frat-boys trundling along back in the forest at some point — now you know why.

The biggest attraction at Cedar Hills is the disc golf course. Not super-challenging, but still heavily wooded, it’s a lot of fun. I’m a big fan of the 10th(maybe 11th?) hole, a large downhill toss that has to immediately slide between two trees(that are well-worn from point-blank disc miscues) and plenty of thick undergrowth to discourage you from trying anything too cute. There’s one water hazard hole that’s deceptively difficult for casual players, since the water goes wider than it looks and a fade or slice in your through could easily doom you. I don’t advise going into this drink for a free frisbee, though… it’s kinda nasty. There is a nice little playground area for the kids, and they always seem to be enjoying themselves in one of the few locations left where the kids’ equipment is more than a foot off of the ground. There are also tennis and basketball courts that only occasionally end up forcing you to wait to play. I dig it here.
