This place is awesome! It has such a great small town feel to it — definitely not a cookie cutter. The servers and hostess were all very friendly. Had the burger. It was delicious! I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Had the club sandwich; it was fresh and a large enough portion for 2 – 3 meals. Will be back to try more things.

OK, I have to revise my review. I usually always get fruit and an egg biscuit with gravy, something of that nature. Today I went back, and I just had to add another star! Today my partner and I both tried the country fried steak with two eggs, and it was phenomenal. Despite being super busy on a Saturday morning, the waitresses were all so kind and helpful, and even gave us a free cookie at the end for no reason. :) A bit silly, but all I want to say here is if you like this dish elsewhere, please try their country fried steak. It is so delicious!

This is one of my go to brunch spots. The pancakes are delicious!!! They are huge and cakey, they would be my top recommendation there. The bacon is always super crispy which I love. All around good cooking, and love the firefighter décor. The owner is EXTREMELY accommodating and very mindful of any food allergies(dairy, gluten, peanut, etc). I personally don’t have any allergies but have witnessed her double checking with the kitchen that things are cooked separately. Side note: ask for cookies after your meal if they don’t offer them, fresh out of the oven!

This place is clearly a hometown favorite! I ordered chocolate milk, which was served lukewarm. I also had a raspberry pancake, which was not that good. The raspberries were cooked into the pancake though which was nice. I also ordered a biscuit which was good and service was good. I just wasn’t blown away with the food, and I did not eat much of it.

Nostalgic little diner. Reminds me of going to the coffee shop with my grandfather as a kid. Had the biscuits and gravy which was good. Service is decent. This is not gourmet just a good old fashion breakfast diner. Went at 1pm in a Tuesday and it’s mostly a senior crowd.

The best southern breakfast place in the triangle. And a great atmosphere with great service. I like the biscuits and gravy, or the steak and eggs.

Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers we found this breakfast gem on a recent trip to Cary, NC. Normal variety of breakfast items on the menu, but the scrambled egg and sausage burrito is the bomb. Also, some of the nicest waitstaff I’ve encountered in some time. They made you feel like they had invited you into their home for breakfast. We left with a full stomach and a smile.

If classic family diners are your thing, Barry’s is as good as it gets! Despite the plethora of seating, there is usually a small wait on weekend like everywhere in Raleigh. They have a great selection of classic breakfast items(think waffle house menu) as well as some others like the breakfast burrito and biscuits. Service is fast and the food is well priced, would recommend for a family breakfast since they have crayons and tvs playing kids shows. The milkshake also looked very promising, but we were too full to try it. Great place for filling up with family, but don’t come here if you’re trying to be fancy/in the mood for mimosas.

If you are looking for a breakfast place with a local feel… Barry’s is your spot! My boyfriend and I love going to Barry’s for breakfast on the weekends despite there being a wait to get a table. Don’t expect gourmet plates, but the food is extremely filling, delicious, and a great price. The Barry’s burrito and biscuits(so fluffy) are some of our favorites, although we have always liked every meal we’ve eaten there! One of the best things about this place is the wonderful staff. They are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and will sometimes give you free, straight out of the oven, cookies!!!

Barry’s is the best place for breakfast! Not a big menu, but quality ingredients cooked right! This is the only place I have been to in years that consistently cooks eggs properly! Real butter on the table too! Wait staff are always great! Friendly, efficient, and they seem to really enjoy their job! Kid friendly, family restaurant. Open limited hours now, so check times before you head over. Breakfast and lunch menus.

First of all the service is excellent I’ll give them that. The place is cute and interesting I’ll give them that as well. Hash browns(which are actually home fries) are wonderful. Biscuits are ok. That having been said… The coffee is so watery it’s ridiculous. Reminded me of that swill you make in a hotel room. Couldn’t even drink it. Ihop makes better omelets. This was just awful. Hard eggs, vegetables were raw(they should be sauteed and relatively soft not crunchy). The sausage patties are like hockey pucks. Hard and black. The toast comes dry!!! I really really wanted to love this place from the reviews. Unfortunately not so much. Maybe I’ll come back for lunch…

So we had previously lived about a quarter mile from this place and had never noticed it before! It is located in a very nondescript strip mall. The place was a bit crowded but was well managed by the wife of the owner, Barry. The café is lined with firemen memorabilia and collectibles from all around the country. I initially assumed that he may have been a fireman at some point of time, but it looks like he is an advent support of firemen across the country(look up his story on his website. Its worth a read and quite inspiring) The service is super quick, the menu is just about right without too much confusion. As an egg-itarian I didn’t have much difficulty in finding choices for brunch. The coffee is wonderful and the portions on the omlettes and pancakes are right. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have traditional southern hash browns. All in all, brunch for two at $ 22 was not bad at all!

Great place for a weekday lunch! My coworkers like to order breakfast food(eg. omelettes) for lunch here. It was already pretty crowded when we got there around 12pm so our waitress seemed kind of rushed when we requested certain things like straws for our cups. I ordered the Reuben sandwich($ 9.49) which comes with a side: chips, coleslaw, or applesauce. I opted for coleslaw, which went well with my sandwich. My Reuben was chock full of thick corned beef slices, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing on rye bread. Yum! The portion size was huge and I saved 1⁄3 of it for dinner later. Every meal comes with a free just-baked cookie, which I almost declined until my friends kindly informed me that the cookie is FREE, why would you not accept it?!

You’ve obviously never been to Barry’s, that’s why you’re reading this review. You probably think your life is complete, again, that is because you’ve never been to Barry’s. I can honestly say stepping foot into Barry’s was one of the best decisions I have ever made regarding breakfast. Get a cheeseburger and eggs. Just do it. Why you ask? It’s a cheeseburger… and eggs… for breakfast… why haven’t you ordered it yet? The waitstaff will charm you. Request Heather’s section, trust me. Why she doesn’t have her own comedy show, I have no idea. Did I mention you get a free after meal cookie? I didn’t know that, but you should. The chocolate was still gooey in the middle. It was awesome. Are you a fire fighter or have you ever been on fire and saved by a firefighter? Yes? Then this place is for you. Step through the door and you’ll understand. PS jalapeño bacon

We were looking for a quick breakfast, and decided to try Barry’s. Fortunately we were there early as it quickly got crowded shortly after we arrived. We had the Western Omelet(sausage, bacon, city ham, onion, green pepper, & cheddar cheese) with biscuits and hash browns(seasoned home fries). The food was exceptional and quick. I now understand why there was a line out the door when we left. I can’t wait to go back and try something else.

Barry’s café is classic diner with a homey feel, solid food and as an added bonus donates some of their proceeds to a great cause. Walking into Barry’s, even if you don’t know the«back story», you’ll know this place is all about firemen. Unfortunately it’s not the sexy calendar firemen I know you were all thinking about… But you’ll still feel the love as you take in the paraphernalia, photos and patches from all over our great state of NC! The prices are spot on for diner. They’ve got a bar directly in front of an open kitchen for the true diner folks or tables or groups. With all you can drink hot coffee(it’s not Counter Culture, but this is not Ashley Christensen place) and a menu full of choice, breakfast and lunch, you won’t be disappointed. I ordered the breakfast burrito, served with choice of side, salsa and sour cream and it was the perfect remedy for my Friday night headache. I love that they serve breakfast all day! Plus, when you’re ready to pay your bill thru serve you hot, freshly baked cookies! Classy touch Barry’s. I’d return to this diner anytime I’m in the area!

Recently moved to Raleigh and glad to have found Barry’s! Walked in and sat up at the bar right behind the cash register. I loved the home town diner feel right away, and the décor in honor of the firefighters was awesome! It was their busy lunch rush, but right away a sweet waitress said she’d be right with me. Good waitressing means that you’re aware of the surroundings and even if you can’t actually stop to take an order, letting a guest know you acknowledge them so they aren’t left wondering what’s going on is a big deal! Especially important when I done solo… Solo diners can be tricky. Got my coffee right away, and it was yum(not watered down like someone else has mentioned). I ordered the veggie omelet with hash browns and biscuits. As I waited, I watched the guys on the line do their thing. Some people might not like to watch it so up close, but I work in the business and get a kick out of it. These guys were doing their thing with a mix of lunch and breakfast items, from Philly sandwiches, to big salads, to omelets like mine! Coffee kept topped up, and food took all of maybe 7 or 8 minutes to arrive! Huuuuge veggie omelet with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and cheddar cheese in and on top of the eggs! The hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outside, but soft and potatoey on the inside… Just right! The biscuits were so fresh, they nearly fell apart while putting on my butter and jelly. A few bites into everything, and I knew I’d been won over! Toward the end, my sweet waitress brought over a fresh chocolate chip cookie«on the house.» Yummm! I saved half my omelet and one of the two biscuits to have later. Great place, nice people, yummy food made right! Next time I’m coming for a pancake or waffle!

Yep. I’m a fan! Usually I am resistant to the idea of going out to breakfast because I’ve been up for hours and had to eat something already before the rest of the household is ready to go, but the other day I was moving rather slowly and I really didn’t feel like cooking a weekend breakfast(hmmm…I sound kind of lazy… maybe my coffee just didn’t kick in yet! Really!). My husband wanted to take us into downtown Raleigh, but I figured our toddler wouldn’t survive the drive and potential wait times at the restaurant so I was hoping one of the spots I had bookmarked for potential would be a hit. We were pleasantly surprised with Barry’s! For a Saturday morning, it was bustling inside. We got in right before a few other parties arrived and were seated within a few minutes. My daughter loved«the man» statue(the fireman) in the front of the restaurant and almost didn’t even want to go to our table when it was ready! We were seated in the back room with a TV(my daughter would offer a few extra stars just for the fact that Dora the Explorer was showing!), and it was actually a little quieter back there than in the front of the restaurant. Our server was **genuinely** courteous and helpful — amazing! The menu had a variety of options for breakfast and we ended up with lots of food. The children’s menu had two breakfast options, and there were quite a few lunch items too. I like that there’s an allergy-free menu, and after skimming a few other reviews I’m going to need to have my husband try a burger here. I was very happy with my blueberry pancake too — usually breakfast places just kind of disappoint me because I can cook my favorite breakfast items a ton better than some places I’ve tried, but the big blueberry pancake I had was fluffy and had a nice crisp outside… oh, and it was packed with blueberries too. It was really good! I also like that it wasn’t a mountain of pancakes, but rather one GOOD one. Quality over quantity always wins in my book! I’d definitely go here again and maybe even try some menu items that usually disappoint me elsewhere — GREAT potential here! And, my daughter would be thrilled to see«the man» at the front of the restaurant again too ;)
