A wonderful addition to Hopscotch day parties! Babes in Boyland was an unexpected treat on a warm Saturday afternoon the final day of a three day music festival hosted yearly in downtown Raleigh called Hopscotch. The festival is located in the warehouse district where West Davie Street dead ends. A large stage, food trucks and unique drink vendors edged the area along with our favorite Unilocal team table and a couple other activist tables and our favorite local Roller Derby team! I arrived towards the end of the festival and was able to be a part of the What Cheer? Brigade’s entrance and one of my favorite bands during Hopscotch. I think their involvement in the Babes in Boyland fest really sealed the deal on it being four stars event and helped to get the crowd involved and having a great time. The other bands that played during the festival were okay but another wonderful addition to the festival were the drink selections. The XXX Bloody Mary Bar was awesome and right up my alley as far as spiciness goes. I also loved the«glowmosas» made with Humdinger juices. A tasty mix of pineapple, lime, mint and prosecco made for the best mimosa/mojito combination! As far as food trucks went, there was Pie Pushers for pizza and The Parlour for ice cream. But just take a two minute walk over to the CAM and you could find SOL Tacos or there’s always the option to enjoy something tasty from The Depot area. This festival was conveniently located and the only downside I could see was parking isn’t free and might be difficult to find. I’d recommend parking up the street and walking down. I hope next year they publicize a bit more and have information on who is going to be playing at what time. But overall a great addition to the day parties of Hopscotch and can’t wait to see what they offer next year. If it’s a great as this year I can’t wait to return!
