I won a gift certificate for an hour long massage from my company health fair. Although at the time I was somewhat enviously eyeing the $ 50 Walgreens giftcard my coworker won, I now know that I hit the jackpot! My massage therapist was named Frits, an awesome ‘retiree’ with a wonderful gravelly voice and a firm handshake. We discussed the«areas of pain» that I had circled on the new patient form(neck, shoulders and feet). He inquired about my foot pain and I sheepishly explained that they didn’t hurt, I just loved having my feet massaged(who doesn’t???). Frits did a quick check of my shoulders/neck and within seconds had found the spots causing discomfort. The full-body swedish massage was great, and he added on a quick hot stone massage at the end. Frits was very professional and adamant that I relax. A few times I tensed my neck to hold my head up during the neck massage, and he said, «This is your time to relax. I will do the work.» Don’t have to tell me twice! Frits was quiet most of the time, and was also happy to chat if you asked him a question. He has traveled a lot and has many interesting stories. I didn’t realize until I was walking toward my car that he had gone well over the 1 hour I was scheduled for. Thanks Frits!
