Ridiculous no service at 847 on a Friday. Very disappointed. Will never come back. Couldn’t even eat at bar. Who owns this place? Turning away customers.

Definitely should get an award for some of their creative beer options. So they had a few limited releases that I tried, the Chill Chaser and the Neopolo Milk Stout were my favorites. Both were great! The Chill Chaser was described to me as a Mexican hot chocolate stout. It had a kick of spicy habanero(not too much though, which is key), but you could definitely taste the chocolate also. The Neopolo Stout is inspired by Neapolitan ice cream — vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. You could taste all 3, it was crazy good! I also liked most of the other beers I tried, but definitely wanted to point out these two. The brewery was also really nice. It was very big and gave you that relaxing log cabin feel. I really liked it. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the beers in general and was helpful with recommendations. A few things that were weird to me… The flights are 3 beers? What? I went ahead and ordered two… They also didn’t give me anything to put the beers in, a little different, but I got over it. Ha The other thing was I got the bill and it was only like $ 7. For two flights… I was like«heck yea, that’s amazing.» I gave a good tip and was on my way. I saw my bank statement a few days later and got charged over $ 15 though. That’s not cool. I meant to call, but haven’t gotten around to it.

Sitting in the restaurant after an hour and 15 minutes since walking in the door. Have had two glasses of tea, placed my order 20 minutes ago. Still haven’t had any food despite ordering a salad. I ate here 2 years ago and had a much better experience. In April 2016 the experience has nose-dived. Update… Have eaten. Food is great. Recommended to anyone not in a hurry.

Terrible! My boyfriend and I came here a year ago and were so pleased with the wonderful menu, delicious food and beer choices, and friendly service. We would have rated it 5 stars despite our two hour wait. Last night was a horribly different experience. The wait was about the same, but the staff were not nearly as friendly. The menu had changed, with more«pub style» foods… The remaining original items they had(prime rib, catch of the day) they were out of! There were literally four different entrees that they were completely out of. They were also out of one of the beers that served as the base for two or three beer mixes. We waited over an hour, and watched two tables(who had ordered the exact same entrees as us) be served their food. When asked, the waitress stated our«ticket was still up so the kitchen was probably worked on our order now.» When asked why our ticket hadn’t been completed prior to the two tables that came in after us, she gave no answer. We decided to pay for the food that we actually had received, and left. We arrived at 6:15 and left at 9:30, still not having ever seen the first entrée… Worst Valentine’s Dinner ever. We will never return here.

It is always good to return to this restaurant, the location, surrounding and construction is beautiful. However, I was disappointed when food arrived, comparing to my previous experiences in past visits because I noticed the size of the dishes(food portions) are much smaller than before. I validated with friends who were with me and all of them agreed. Food quality and service remains good but is not a good practice to reduce size when the place has created a good reputation in the area.

The hostess with the braces was rather hostile with me. Also my waitress only saw us 4 times during the the session. The atmosphere was gorgeous though. All in all, the food was ok. 3 stars.

The Traveler’s Pale and and Peachicot Blonde Ale were both great! Since the main entrée menu was a bit pricey, my dining partner and I stuck to the sandwich menu. The house salad was too plain – just because it’s a salad doesn’t mean it has to be boring and flavorless. The atmosphere was fantastic. On a cold, blustery day and The River Company Restaurant and Brewery was just what I needed to warm up. The whole place smelled like a wonderful bonfire. Very rustic and comforting. The view of Radford is very romantic, I certainly would recommend this place for a date night.

We were in town for RU family weekend. We wanted to take our son out for prime rib. I had the dry aged filet. It was tender but not worth the $ 38 they charged for it. The service was slow but good. I probably won’t go back. Too pricey and not that good.

This place has the best view in Radford for dinner over looking the new river however the staff that I encountered were not very personable and seemed unengaged. The prime rib was decent but nothing I couldn’t get at one of the chains down the road. A few small improvements with the service and food quality could turn this place around. I’ll be paying attention to future reviews before I return.

Outstanding food that was off the charts delicious. I had the Lager Chicken and Creamy Potato Soup while my wife had the Steak, Salad, and Potato. The view both inside and out was breathtaking. Inside, you feel like you are in a fancy ski chalet. Outside, you are about 300 feet up from the New River and they have fancy seating there too. The staff were courteous and friendly, and neat in appearance and manner.

I’m writing this feedback for constructive criticism. Hopefully management reads these so they can save this restaurant before it goes out of business. First, the food and design was 4.5 stars. Really delicious. Everything else was horrible. The server was immature and did not know anything about wine or food. She did not bring common sides that are typical with prime rib. She barely checked on us. The staff was rude about where to seat us. Staff should either be better trained or more experienced, this is one of the only nice Radford restaurants. The patio has a fireplace but no firewood, and no electric heaters. One of the best features of the restaurant is the patio but no one will go if it’s too cold to sit there. They really could spruce it up.

Great selection of beers. Built our own flight at $ 1 a beer so we could choose our favorites. Loved the Timber Brown Ale! Our server Rachael did a great job with our large party. We will definitely be back.

The beer was good, very interesting flavors but we just came at a busy time so the review went down since we waited to be seated, then waited for the waitress, then waited for our food for about 40 minutes(which was just a burger and a salad), then waited for the waitress to bring our check, ect. BUT it’s a really neat place, if you’re just passing through its definitely worth checking out.

I LOVED this place! The food was delicious, but most importantly the beers were unique and wonderful! And the view was beautiful!!! We dined outside on the deck overlooking the river. It was a great view. We were lucky enough to make it for happy hour which they have on Saturdays from 1 – 5PM and beers are only $ 2.50 each. There wasn’t a brew that I didn’t like. I loved them all! Both my husband and I had the 8 oz. Sirloin. It was definitely more expensive than I usually spend for an 8 oz. sirloin at $ 16 a piece, but it was worth it. It was delicious with a salad and baked potato. We did end up being talked into the apple bread pudding which was a perfect end to the meal with a pint of Red Peach for me.

Great beers, good steaks, most of the salads we have had are good except the chewy steak on the«black and bleu». The chips are home made but last time they were stale. We we were told the were made 2 days before. They were stale. Not what you want on an $ 8 appetizer. View is outstanding and the food is almost so.

The food and the price never match up. For what we pay we always hope the food will be just a bit better. I feel the only reason to come here is for the beer, onion rings, and the view of the new river.

Everything is very, very good. Ale, service, and ambiance are excellent. The deserts sent me into a food coma. The garlic mushrooms a fungi crack– I want some right now. The beef options are great also. The only thing that was disappointing was the mandatory bread, but the yummy whipped butter made it a wash.

Sat outside — loved the view! Every morsel of food was delicious. Rolls with herb butter, salad with homemade ranch, filet & mashed potatoes, and sirloin & shrimp special were all delicious. Had the 9 beer sampler(peachicot and porter were great). Key lime pie & crème brûlée were only OK.

To sum this place up, the word cozy comes to mind. Whenever I come here I feel like I’m in someone’s home, kicking back, relaxing on a few drinks andgreat food, while looking out over the New River. In addition to being a restaurant, The River Company is also a brewery that offers up some great tasting beers from your lagers to your IPAs and stouts, there’s a beer for everyone. I really enjoyed the Peachicot ale which had a subtle peach taste that I have never had anywhere else. The restaurant specializes in all natural beef that is dry aged which helps produce a distinct tender flavor. But I think the highlight of meal every time I go are the tenderloin crostinis! Beef tenderloin medallions, herb cream cheese, roasted red pepper, and topped with a basaltic glaze… these things are crack and I would be fine just eating these all night. The rest of the food is pretty good, not complaints of any past meals. And yes the prices are a little high for the area but nothing ridiculous. I know some people complain going here saying it’s expensive or not that good, but I’m a sucker for good beer, steaks, and cabin settings soo count me in anytime. Whenever I’m in the area again I’ll be sure to go back and get my fix!

I have eaten here a handful of times for various events and the food has always been decent. If I had one complaint it would be about the service they seem to hire a lot of inexperienced people. The building is gorgeous, high ceilings and a beautiful fireplace. There is an outside seating area for when the weather is nice. They also brew their own beer.
