Hank’s is a staple of Radford. Burgers are fantastic and the fries, although frozen, are cooked very well and were delicious. Mark and Hank make a great team. Really brings me back to my days of going to the Tastee Freeze in my hometown. Their may be better places around, but everybody needs to go to Hank’s atleast once while they are in Radford.

Was really excited to try this hole in the wall in Radford but was overall disappointed. It was dirty, the woman making the food wasn’t wearing gloves, dropped things on the floor, picked them up, and continued making our food. One of the burgers was still bloody when I bit into it. I should have just left when I saw the place. You are better off going to Cookout right down the road.

Can’t comment about the food. Drove up. Server took order, waited 20 minutes still no food. More people drove up, gave their order, got their food. Still waiting for ours. We finally left.

You have to remember a few things about Hank’s before you read this review: 1. This is a «hole in the wall» so don’t expect the Ritz Carlton(through no fault of his own; the Landlord has not been willing to fix leaks in the roof, etc.). But some of the best food joints are holes in the wall… 2. Hank has been in business since 1972. Read that again: 1972!!! Burger King: gone! KFC: done! 6 restaurants that tried to open up in old Golden Corral space: history! He has lasted this long for a reason… I grew up in Radford, but honestly never started going to Hank’s until I was in my 20’s. My loss. Hank’s does simple Diner/Fast food simply… and GOOD! My favorite is Hank’s Hotdog. He makes his own chili and even offers the traditional Southern sweet slaw as a topping. Can’t go wrong with tots or fries(I prefer the tots). His hamburgers are also made fresh from fresh ground beef. If you travel the old Lee Highway and are in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by Hank’s instead of one of the Chain joints(no complaints on the Chain joints, I just prefer to eat«local» when possible). Hank could use the business, as he is near retirement age, and he is extremely friendly!

Very old drive in. The owner has got to be in his 80’s and is very hard of hearing. I’ve always love unique family owned businesses and this place is it. There was a sign saying the best burger in town and I always wanted to try it. I went to the LJS across the street but the line was out the door. The guy in front of me seemed nice old and chatty so I asked if Hanks did have the best burgers in town. This old timer told me” oh dey good. Real good” So Off I went to try them out. At 20min after noon no one was there. I went inside and the there was hank in his 80’s. The roof was leaking in 3 spots but he had some tubs under them. I told him I wanted a big burger with fries and a pepsi. I had to tell him 3x because he is so hard of hearing. I ordered and sat inside and read the paper. He got a phone order for 6 hot dogs then a lady poked her head in and ordered 2 dogs. This guy was slammed. 3 different orders. My burger came up 1st and was a great juicy burger. I give it B. If he would have toasted the bun it would have been the best burger in VA. I watched as he made the other 2 orders and I noticed he made some hamburger patties to order. He put together the other 2 orders but had a piece of raw hamburger stuck to the top of his hand the whole time. I never saw him wash his hands. I prayed I would not get sick. Im writing this the day after and I do have a cold that came down this morning but I do not blame Hank. My kid and mother in law have had a cold for a few days. I give the sanitary a D+ but the burger was actually really good. It truly is the best burger in Fairlawn VA.

Ok, but not great. The burgers were a little dry and the fries were nothing special. The curb service is interesting, but, by itself is not worth any extra effort. It was not bad, just not significantly better than any of the nearby fast food places.
