Pretty decent food. I’m not gyro fan. I get a burger when I’m here. It would be greatly improved if the burger bun and fries weren’t so soggy.

When you want a good gyro… come here. The gyro is always loaded up with meat. The fries are okay. I’m a fan of crispy fries so they were on the soggier side for me. The only downfall is it is connected to a gas station and in between is a bathroom. Sometimes the smell of the urinal cakes poured out into the restaurant. Otherwise a nice food gem in Racine!

I’m appalled at the way food is handled at this place! I placed an order and then the clerk went outside to smoke her cigarette. She came back in through the customer entrance then into the kitchen and immediately back to the register without time to stop and wash her hands. She took another order handling cash, then walked over and started helping the cook package food. Yecch! No clean hands, no gloves! And their claim to fame is the greasy bag of fries. So they place your freshly cooked fries into a brown bag that was made with who knows what chemicals. I’m not eating them!

I will make this one brief. GUS”S GYROS… now I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like gyros yet and will say GUS’S is delicious. They have a variety of items on the menu but 2 stand out in my mind… the BFG(Big F***** Gyro) and the BFB(Big F***** Burger). The BFG speaks for itself and the BFB is a HUGE double cheeseburger topped with gyro meat and bacon. I usually get the BFB with no bacon and it is delicous. And to add there’s usually an attractive(visually) cashier behind the counter, every lady I have seen behind that counter, just to add, so probably not the best date place if you have a jealous prone gf(just saying). BFB and be happy.

When we first started eating at Gus’ the food was sooo fresh and good. We usually come for the Saturday chicken special. I would say over the past 6 months we have been about 4 times and every time the chicken is OVERCOOKED! The French fries were always delicious, but the chicken — come on do, I don’t want rubbery chicken! My wife doesn’t even want to go there any more :(

Eat at Gus’s. I noticed on Unilocal that there were numerous burger places in the Racine avenue and stopped here while doing some work in the area. After my 2nd visit, I’d definitely go out of my way to stop here! Whomever came up with the idea to stick gyro meat on a burger deserves an award — make it a cheeseburger with gyro. Yum! This place has got all your greasy spoon goodies — burgers, gyros, fries, cheese curds, etc. Service was very fast and friendly!

My husband grew up in Racine and came here all the time. I came here for the 1st time. Since I don’t like gyros I ordered the chicken strips. We waited for the food which is fine with me because they make it as people order it. I was blown away by the taste and quality. It was very delicious and worth every penny.

I grew up in Chicago, in «New Greek Town,» in fact and I discovered gyros at an early age and love the unique spice set in the blended beef and lamb creation. Since the ‘60s the gyro sandwich has become ubiquitous in the Midwest so much of the dining experience differentiators has to do with the atmosphere of the establishment. Gus’s Gyros is remarkably clean and bright, not something you might expect of a chow hall attached to a gas station.(That said, the BP to which it is attached is, itself, remarkably well kept.) The staff is friendly and I am amused by the provocative slogans on the young girl’s uniform shirts — a laugh is always welcome. The menu itself is a carnivore’s delight with many wildly over-indulgent items but also many items for the modest appetite as well. The gyros(pronounced more like yeer-dos that juy-rows, by the way) are perfectly fresh, hot, savory and well complimented by the obligatory tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce. I have had kebab in Krakow, döner in Switzerland and koubideh in London and Gus’s Gyros’ gyro was just as tasty as any of those.

I found Gus’s using Unilocal and thought a Gyro would be something different for dinner, so I stopped in. Unilocal I believe has the business listed on its map in the wrong place, so maybe use a different address app on your smart phone. Unilocal takes you to a boarded up part of town. The restaurant is located in the same building as a BP gas station and a liquor store, Gus’s Gyro’s is on the marquee outside. I ordered the BFG which I thing stands for Big Frig’n Gyro and I must say it is 3lbs of pure delight. Add the cucumber sauce and you are in heaven. Excellent taste and tons of meat. Restaurant has a 1960’s theme, booths and serves liquor. It is very casual and would be on the order of any fast food sit down area. Gus’s does a great job of cleanliness and even though staff was two people the day I stopped in, I received my food quickly, it was hot and staff was polite and friendly. If you like Gyro’s you will love Gus’s.

I was really excited when I got to try Gus’s Gyros. I don’t eat much meat but I had a great chicken gyro! My boyfriend had a triple cheeseburger which looked amazing! We both had the fresh cut fries and those were a real treat! The tzatziki sauce was homemade and very delicious :). It is very clean inside and the staff are very friendly. They have burgers, gyros, hot dogs, fish fry and a few other things. There is something for everyone here(vegetarians too). you do not have to like gyros to eat here. It is very reasonably priced and they only take cash! Don’t be turned off by the location(attached to a gas station). odd locations usually have the best finds! You can’t go wrong eating at Gus’s great lunch or dinner spot! Enjoy!

What a great spot! The gyros are as good as any I have had anywhere, and I am a gyro fan. They also have fresh cut fries, burgers made from fresh meat and other sandwiches which are all homemade. They lose one star for a rather indifferent counter person taking our order(I’d give 4.5 if I could). Note that they also serve beer, wine and liquor, if you are so inclined. To find this spot, you should know that it is located adjacent to a BP gas station(owned by the restaurant owner). Don’t let that put you off; the food is outstanding.
