Wonderful food! Great experience with fast and friendly service. My husband family is from Quitman and they had never been there as it looks like a hole in the wall and they weren’t huge Cajun food fans. While looking for a restaurant recently on a visit, I found the great recommendations on Unilocal so we decided to give it a try. Great decision on our part. My mother in law ordered a small plate of catfish and it was just how she liked it, crispy and thin as well the perfect temperature. My husband ordered a cheeseburger after eyeing one coming out of the kitchen. His words«this is the best burger I’ve ever had!» The sweet potato fries tasted like dessert-they were so good. I ordered a fried shrimp po boy. They can prepare it fried, grilled or blackened. So yummy! We will definitely be back. They also have take out. You can order ahead of time and grab and go. Great experience. They are closed on Mondays. Thursday night are all you can eat ribs. I think Friday night is all you can eat fish. The waitress mentioned that New Years through July they are super busy because the crawfish are served.

I love this place; it’s a small local joint that you usually have to wait to get into on weekend nights, because everyone loves it and it’s small inside. :) I like it that way. The steak is outstanding, the shrimp are great, and the white chocolate bread pudding is AMAZING. I am craving it right now. :) Great service, friendly staff.

We have had the DGS(my favorite) and several other dishes. I love everything on the menu. The steaks are really good too. It’s BYOB so don’t forget your beer and wine! They do a fantastic job running the restaurant even when it’s really busy!

I had never had Cajun food before our visit to Seth’s…so I was a bit unsure of what to order. I don’t think it would have mattered… these folks could make cardboard taste amazing. I had the blackened catfish, fried okra, sweet tea and the bread pudding. Oh my… the bread pudding… I can’t say I’ve ever had anything that good in my mouth before. The interior of the restaurant is a little funky… but I think it adds to the charm… and you do feel relaxed. The service was AU-HUH-MAZ-ING! I don’t think my tea glass ever got more than ½ empty before it was being refilled. I can’t wait to go back…

I have only had Cajun food once in my life and I hated it. I told myself I would never try it again. When I got to this restaurant I was in the mind set that I was going to hate the food. But this restaurant single handed changed my mind about Cajun food. I had the gator, sweet potatoes fries, and hush puppies. For dessert we got a white chocolate bread pudding. That was the best bread pudding I have every had. The service was amazing. One of the waitress brought me white chocolate sauce and explained I should dip the sweet potatoes in the sauce. It was amazing. I never had an empty cup of water. The waitresses came around to check on us enough to feel like they care but not to much that you felt like they were overbearing.

Delicious! The best food I’ve had since moving to Texas. My husband had the Shrimp étouffée, I had the blackened shrimp plate and we had crab cakes as an appetizer. We shared everything and couldn’t decide what we liked best.

Unbelieveably good! We had ribeye and shrimp and filet and shrimp, and three days later we are still raving about how good it was. We haven’t had steak that good in a long time. They were juicy, tender, delicious and perfectly cooked, everything you want a steak to be. The ribeye was big enough for two people. They were busy, which was a good sign, but the short wait was more than worth it. We wil definitely be returning, every time we are in town to fish. An unusual place, to be sure, but a diamond in the rough! Five GOLD stars!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance. I’m glad I did because now I can add it to my list of out of the way spots I’d like to frequent. First, the atmosphere. This is pretty much a shack in the middle of nowhere. They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating. If the weather is nice, I’d recommend outdoor. Inside you’re pretty crammed together sitting at metal card tables. Actually takes some work getting in and out of your seat. The décor — plywood covered in license plates. The owner, Seth, works the door. He’s a really nice guy and will tell you the truth in plain east texas English. If your party is dawdling in the parking lot and your table is ready he’ll say, «Tell em to come on!» If you ask whether the ribeye or the filet is better, he’ll tell you, «The ribeye is usually pretty good but the filet is always great because the cut of meat is more consistent.» The wait staff is outstanding. You’ll get better service here than you will at most high end places. They are nice and they are genuine. And they will tell you what’s good and what they don’t particularly care for. The food was mostly outstanding. The fried pickles and mushrooms were best ever. The fried green beans were really good. The pistolettos were not good. Crawfish dressing inside a sourdough roll. Very greasy. The ribeye was good but the filet was great(just like Seth said). The grilled shrimp were awesome. Well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The fried catfish and oysters were just okay. Not much flavor. I loved the gumbo. I’ll pass on the onion rings. Breading was awful. Long story short, if you order right, you’re in for a treat. If you order wrong, you may not come back. My advice, try lots of different things. Overall, I love a hole in the wall place with good food and nice, down to earth people. That description fits Seth’s to a country tee! Smiley face and a star.

Love the seafood, eaten here many times before. Just back visiting and came in. Tried the Tuesday Special, Alfredo with Shrimp. Bowtie noodle’s were soft, but flavor combination is great! Will be back again!

Not a big Cajun fan and even after I told the waitress, no spice… the food came out spicier than expected. Ate only half of the steak and one shrimp which packed with black pepper. If you like Cajun, this may be a good place for you. If you don’t, STAYAWAY!!!

I love this place. Started as a walk up counter several years back after Katrina forced a family to move East. Now it has a small dining room. They buy and pick up most of their seafood directly from Louisiana. The crawfish in season are spicy, good and fairly priced. They also have an excellent Ribeye steak that comes with shrimp cooked to your choice. Their boiled seafood platter is also an excellent choice. We usually buy a Ribeye and also the boiled seafood platter and share it. Its enough for 4 people! My son says they have the best fried catfish anywhere and another says their blackened catfish is really unique and tasty. Prices on some of the items can get expensive — this is a hole in the wall but is not priced like one. It still is a good value however. The bread pudding is a must order!

Amazing food! The Gumbo was the best I have ever had and the French Pork Chop with chili lime sauce was over the top great! My friend had the seafood platter that was also very good… generous portions too. A must is the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer! Yummy food and very friendly staff. I will be back for sure! Great job!

Took grandmother out to this shack down the road from her place, post Christmas. She was ecstatic once inside, it reminded her of the honky-tonks she visited in her younger years. I got the steak(medium rare) and shrimp, she ordered the shrimp dinner — ordered grilled and«blackened»(additional Cajun spices). Order took some time, figured since the shack was filled orders were running behind — limited grill space, maybe charcoal cook instead of hot broilers. And so we got our orders, grandma was in heaven as the shrimp blew any shred of nostalgia about previous meals of crustaceans. So was I for about 3⁄5 of my steak … unfortunately, the last 2⁄5 ended up medium-well, sure it was a crowded grill as the cooks got busy. And you know, that’s ok: the first 3/5s was up there with the top steakhouses I’ve ate ate around the country; none of those establishments can make gumbo but Seth’s certainly can.

Don’t be too judgy when you pull up – it’s not the prettiest place in the area, but this sweet little«lean-to shanty on the hill»(my mother’s description, not mine!), has the best service and yummiest grub in East Tx! From burgers that will make you slap your Momma to the boiled seafood platter big enough for 4 to share to the DGS(Darn Good Sauce), that’s darn good ’nuff to eat with a spoon, you canNOT be disappointed with any choice on the menu! I’m a seafood snob, and it doesn’t get better than Seth’s

The name is now Seth’s Lake Fork Creek Steak & Seafood. Place is great. Staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. I like a place where it’s just about the food and this is it. If you are into pretentious surroundings don’t bother. This place is a bit out of the way if you don’t live around there, I went on a Friday evening and had to wait 20 minutes. Parking can be fun. «If it’s good they will come» deal. I had the fried shrimp and it was excellent. The prices were very good. From looking around the crawfish must be pretty good as well.

Outstanding gumbo and shrimp. Great poboys and burgers too. Save room for the bread pudding. Not a fancy place, but the Cajun faire is outstanding.
