The apps were fantastic– mussels and chicken wontons. Our meals were not impressive. I got the fillet mignon, asked for it cooked medium. It was completely raw. My friend got the seafood casserole and said it was okay but scallops were not cooked properly. Great atmosphere and menu looked great but meals were disappointing.

Tired after a long day at work, I was just looking for someplace where I could have a good, quiet meal and hopefully find a friendly«pub» to hang out at sometimes. Too bad this failed on all counts except for the bar staff. They were very nice and courteous. However, the baked scrod that I ordered smelled so strongly of chlorine that I could not even take one bite. Added to that was the loud, foul-mouthed old guy at the bar who thought his stories of his rotten teeth and other assorted health problems, along with dropping the F-bomb every other word was just fascinating conversation for the rest of the bar to listen to. Not! Too bad because it could be a really nice place to hang out — nice comfy seats at the bar and a fireplace provided nice ambience. However, the poor food and obnoxious patrons ruined it. I won’t be back.

This place is a great neighborhood pub and grill. It is a bit nicer than a typical pub and grill but it is not super fine dining. The menu had a great selection of foods ranging from pizzas to comfort foods such as lobster mac and cheese to grilled items such as bacon wrapped filet mignon. Last Friday night was our second time here for dinner. The parking lot was packed, but surprisingly we were able to get a table for two without a reservation(this was around 7:30 pm). It looked like perhaps most of the action was in the bar area. I was super hungry and so decided to get a bowl of the clam chowder and the turkey dinner(which included mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, vegetables and cranberry relish). It would have been more than enough for two meals! My partner had the grilled trio special. It looked really good – steak tips, jerk chicken and bbq ribs served wth sweet potato fries. Service was excellent and prices were very reasonable. This is a gem in Quincy!

This place is excellent. Reasonably priced, great selection at the bar, wonderful atmosphere. Our table each ordered something different and everyone absolutely loved their selection. Lobster ravioli, lobster Mac and cheese and buffalo chicken mac and cheese were all exquisite. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

We had our wedding at the function room a week ago. Everything was beautiful and everyone had a great time. The space is good and very private for events, we had about 40 people. Sara is a sweetheart and was very helpful. The food was great, we had the buffet with salad, vegetables, mashed potatoes, beef, chicken Milanese and fish. I definitely recommend this place for and event. The wedding was from 3 to 6pm, and a lot of people decided to stay after to hang out at the bar. They accommodated all of us in a big table, it was great!

This is a regular haunt of my boyfriend’s and mine. The food is consistently good and while not cheap, I’d say its fairly priced. Staff is typically friendly and attentive but every now and then someone will be having an off night(happens to all of us). I’ve never had bad service though. The lobster mac and cheese is a go-to favorite of mine. There are always plenty of large chunks of fresh lobster meat and the peas are a great addition. The bacon wrapped scallops are also very tasty, and we’ve never been disappointed with a special. I wasn’t in love with the caprese salad though. I ordered it in mid-July(prime tomato season as anyone with a garden will tell you) and the tomatoes just weren’t that great. They have a good tap list and a number of wines I like. I’d stick with those two as I’ve never had a spectacular cocktail. If you’re really a liquor person though mixed drinks tend to have a generous but not overwhelming pour. We never make reservations but the wait is typically short or nonexistent as its a pretty large space. They also have a good amount of comfortable seating around the bar. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area(under 30 minutes), but wouldn’t say you need to go way out of your way to try it.

The bruschetta is a carb-addicts dream come true! Service always good(shout out to Alvin who is particularly superb). I love this place I would go more often if they…(1) had more vegetarian options on the menu and(2) changed the menu up as it has been the same for years. But excellent spot to dine!

Went tonight for dinner with a LivingSocial deal. Not sure if that had any influence on the service we received, but before I mentioned it the waitress seemed nicer. After that she wasn’t very attentive and didn’t check on us during our meal. She never refilled our waters. The only time she came by was to take our order and give us the bill. I don’t like when waiters think you deserve less service just because you’re using a voucher as I always tip the total price before the deduction. This time around I got the chicken scampi and my bf got the steak tips. Food was good but not excellent. Overall it was a decent meal, especially with the voucher. Just wish the service was better.

Decent décor but average menu — your typical American fare. We ordered the following: Clam chowder — creamy, tons of potato and clams Roast duck — the duck itself was rather bland and the sauce extremely sweet(like something straight out of the can). Steak tips — definitely did not look like 16oz… maybe because it was a bit overcooked Service was alrighty.

Appetizers here were great! Came in with a Living Social coupon and also to scope out the event space for my sister’s bridal shower. The bar was large and welcoming and the bartender was friendly. We were provided with wine, water, and menus quickly. The bruschetta was thick and flavorful with spinach making it feel healthier than it probably was! The scallops in bacon were cooked perfectly — not rubbery at all. And the chicken tenders were crispy and juicy, almost tasting like Chinese chicken fingers but not as greasy. The hostess was helpful in turning on the lights in the function room and allowing me to view the space even though the event planner wasn’t in. We weren’t given any trouble about the coupon and the food was delish! Will definitely be going back!

I live super close to The Fox & Hound. I’ve been here a few times for drinks and apps, once for brunch, and then another time for dinner with my husband. I have to say that my favorite part of this establishment is the bar. The bartender is pretty cool, and very nice. They always have good beers on tap, and service is always quick Sometimes on the way home, I’ll order chicken tenders to go to accompany a meal that I have at home. Tenders were good, and came with buffalo and honey mustard sauces. Brunch was okay. It’s not something that I’d return for, though. I ordered the blackened sampler and the soup of the day(chicken florentine) last night for dinner. The blackened sampler was tasty and a little on the salty side, but it was tasty. Soup was a perfect blend of spinach, chicken, zucchini, carrots and barley. Overall, a go if you want a quick bite or a beer. Service is good :)

Used to go every two weeks or so, and now 2 – 3 times a year. Went in this weekend with a party of 10. Service was good considering the size of the group. Food was mediocre. There’s a good menu with predictable fare, but lackluster specials and sides. The major daily changes are the soup, which is the unsung hero of the establishment, the additive to the mashed potato and the same sad vegetable medley. The veg doesn’t change but they introduce it as the chef’s daily selection or something. I had the chicken scampi, and typically enjoyed it. It’s too simple for the price. Wife had steak tips, which she enjoys. The balance of the table ran the gamut from turkey club to clam special. General consensus was it’s a good spot for a last minute reservation for 10.

Probably my favorite restaurant. I almost always get a Caesar salad and the buffalo chicken mac & cheese. The latter keeps me going back. Anytime I’ve felt adventurous and ordered something different I’ve enjoyed it. My family & friends have always enjoyed their meals as well. I consider the portions large. I usually sit at the bar and the drinks are good. The atmosphere is pretty traditional, but I don’t feel uncomfortable wearing something casual. The staff is friendly and do their job. I’ve attended baby showers and other functions in the rear room. The food was always good even if I despise such gatherings.

We came here early on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly and the waiter service was prompt. Even though it was early the restaurant had a very good crowd and started to fill up shortly after. Hubby ordered a chowder and prime rib dinner and I ordered the french onion soup and lobster mac n cheese. The food was delicious! The french onion soup was gooey with cheese and not overly salty. The lobster Mac n cheese had big chunks of lobster and the cheese was thick and gooey(not watery). The portion was big and could easily be shared. Hubby said the prime rib was very good and that he would definitely come back to get this again. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere and very good company made for a very nice dining experience.

Brunch was ok, I was disappointed there were no pancakes. But what they did have was all plentiful. 6 breakfast basics(french toast, eggs, bacon, etc) and then 4 lunch things(steamed veggies, mashed potatoes, pasta and chicken alfredo). The price is good at about $ 15, but I was hoping for just a few more options of food. The flow of the brunch area wasn’t great, there were people standing in line blocking my whole table a few times, a little uncomfortable and intense. I love a good brunch buffet every so often, so this hit the spot for a good month or two. I might come by to try dinner sometime, but probably will try to find an different breakfast option in the future(I’m talking omelette station y’all).

First time here attending a bridal shower. Beautiful entry when you arrive greeted by staff at the door and immediately to your right is a large well stocked bar. The shower was in the room directly adjacent to the bar with a beautiful fireplace and full windows surrounding the room. A brunch buffet was served and food was fresh, beautifully presented and very tasty. Plenty of food provided so no one went hungry. Coffee was great and they kept the carafes full. Staff were very attentive throughout the event and made sure everyone’s needs were attended to all the time. The one draw back was they had another event immediately following this one so I think the bride to be was kind of rushed opening gifts knowing we had to vacate by a certain time. Nice place though to host a party and enjoy great food.

ANDHOWTHEMIGHTYHAVEFALLEN… This was our go-to spot for a casual, non-chain dining experience in the south shore area. But, after several mediocre experiences, it’s quite evident that Fox & Hound has become another subpar restaurant that partially thrives off its non-cheesy décor. We decided to revisit with a recent LivingSocial deal and because literally the first words out of our waitresses mouth was«Are you using a LivingSocial deal?», we had no choice but to acknowledge that we were. I usually don’t experience a problem with this as we always tip on the full amount of the bill, but it was quite evident that our server, LISA W, decided from that point on that we deserved sh! tty service and went Casper the ghost on us. –We ordered a bottle of wine, which we ended up serving ourselves throughout the meal. –We ordered the blackened sampler, which came out lukewarm as if it was sitting in the pass for 10 minutes too long. –We both ordered steak tips, medium. My plate was bizarre, with pieces ranging from walking off the plate to shoe rubber. Ultimately, we have found that SCARLETOAKTAVERN in Hingham offers a similar menu with a much better dining experience. Time to write this off!

Love this restaurant. Came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and can’t wait to go back. The restaurant is conveniently located in Quincy right near Wollaston Beach and the restaurant itself is very cozy. The service is excellent and helped us navigate the menu, since I had too many options especially as a first time diner here. Dinner for two ended up being a bowl of clam chowder to share(bigger bowl than I imagined!), two crab cakes, and two entrees: steak tips and one of their pizzas. We might have over-ordered as I have a tendency to do, but their food was all so appetizing. I especially enjoyed the crab cakes with the delicious chipotle aioli on the side. Highly recommended! Perfect date night dinner.

Been here on a few occasions already — from groupon deals, date nights to family dinners. I never had to wait long for a table as the restaurant is pretty spacious yet cozy. Service is pretty good, especially on weekdays. The entrée portions are always huge here. The filet mignon, crispy roast duck, and the salmon are my favorite. The meat is always tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I always get clam chowder and crab cakes for appetizer. The clam chowder is creamy and flavorful. The crab cakes have gotten smaller in my opinion, but you can still taste the chunk full of crab meat in each bite. The spicy relish/tartar sauce that comes with them is the best. It takes out the ocean taste of the crab if you are sensitive. I had the lobster Mac and cheese here but I didn’t like it so much. The cheese was really watery and wasn’t sticking to the macaroni at all. Fat cat Mac and cheese is better.
