On my way from the north to follow Hwy. 49 from it start to it end, Quincy seemed my last chance for lunch and my usual lunch hour had already passed. Plumas Café looked like a good place since it had several cars and pickups in front. I skipped the mexican food for a sandwich and it was good. I probably would have gotten an excellent mexican dish, but didn’t want to chance it. When you urban Californians can’t take the crowds any longer, head for Plumas and the neighboring counties in northeast California. Hell of a lot more trees than people and towns are few and small.

My first visit to the Plumas Café’ went great! I went with my girlfriend and we were greeted by friendly service and a very comfortable atmosphere. The menu comes in two parts; one menu has more traditional american diner food, while the other has a more traditional Mexican menu. Of course seeing that the establishment is run by people who are from Mexico, we went with the Mexican menu. They have a great selection of traditional items ranging from machaca to enchiladas to floutas to chili rellanos. The beans tasted homemade and the tortillas are made by hand here as well. I ordered the enchiladas and she had the machaca, they were both delicious. The food was very tasty with just the perfect amount of spices, It was nice and hot and really hit the spot. As we were hungry and they serve fairly large portions here. The prices here are very reasonable here too. Not super cheap, but we got out the door for less than $ 25(including tip) for a really nice breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Plumas Café serves excellent traditional Mexican food. They make their own corn tortillas and serve homemade refried and whole black beans with any meal. The best part about Plumas Café is their homemade salsas. Try the habanero for a real treat. This is by far the best Mexican food option in Plumas County.

The Mexican food at Plumas Café is delicious! I just had the huevos rancheros for breakfast and it was the best breakfast I’ve had in Quincy… homemade corn tortillas and black beans. The wait staff is very friendly, too.
