It was the morning I was supposed to close on my house so I was desperate to find an Notary because I couldn’t make it to the closing. At the last minute, my realtor gave me a number to call that offers 24 hours Notary service. The post office couldn’t notarize my documents and the banks were still closed. I called James B. Murphy and he saved the day. I was on the other side of town and he was on his way to another appointment, yet he was kind enough to understand my situation and waited for me. He was very professional and pleasant. Within few minutes I had the documents notarize. Because of him I didn’t have to reschedule my closing or take a day off from work. Jim is great. I sent him an e-​mail requesting a document to be notarized and he called me within 15 minutes and told me he could come to me or I could go to him in less than a half an hour. I went to him to because I was already out and he did all the legal work and notarized very quickly. I was in and out within 10 minutes. For process of service in my divorce case, Jim went above and beyond the call of duty. What he did was both creative and extremely necessary, tracking down my (soon to be) ex-​wife, who had been avoiding service living abroad for more than a year. We only knew that she would be at a conference in Boston. Jim tracked down her personal assistant and served him — a good start. But then he also found out the hotel she was staying at and personally served her there. Not only that, but he did this all as discreetly and respectfully as I think it was possible to do under the circumstances, since the point was to have her served and not to embarrass her in front of colleagues.
Given the difficulty of this case, Jim could easily have charged for many more hours. But his bill was quite reasonable and just now I gladly paid him an extra $ 200 I had promised for successful completion of service. I highly recommend him for his professionalism.

I was in need of legalizing a Massachusetts college degree and transcripts for use abroad in a country that is not a part of the Hague Convention. What this means is that the legalization process of those documents is a little bit different (and more cumbersome) than the commonly used «Apostille». This was further complicated by the fact that I live out of state, and could not personally take care of the required process in Massachusetts.
