Law Office of Kelly Belt Scibelli

The Quincy Court House of Norfolk County offers free legal clinics several nights a year. When one is in need of legal advice and meets one of these lawyers volunteering their time, one tends to think optimistically about the encounter.
It was far from my mind that the free legal clinic would turn into a nightmare of almost a years length.
With the economy as bad as it is and the unemployment rate hovering around 10%, more people are turning to bankruptcy. We’re not proud of it, but we need some help in going thru the process.
On that night of free legal clinics I met Kelly Belt Scibelli, a lawyer well versed in bankruptcy law, her specialty as she told me. She would get me thru this process for about $ 1300.
After the first meeting, I wad invited to pay her my filing fee of $ 300.00. She pulled my credit reports and I began to collect bills for her to go over.
I also took my credit counseling course which is good for 6 months.
That was the last bit of information that makes any sense. After that it’s all downhill.
Ms Belt Scibelli did not return calls in a timely manner. She was constantly suffering from some disaster which prevented her from working on my case in a timely manner. I should have guessed after seeing the state of chaos in which I found her office.
I finally had to input my own info into a program on line as her computer was not working, the heating didn’t work, electricity went out, she was on a family vacation, had a cold, answering machine didn’t work, etc.
Finally over six months had passed with no filing and nothing to show for my case. I asked her to return my filing fee and told her I would start on my own.
She refused to return my funds and stated she would send me all my paperwork which she had completed for the cost of 300.00.
Imagine my surprise when, upon my first meeting AT the bankruptcy court I was told all of the paperwork she supposedly worked on for me was unfinished, incorrect and a total mess.
I know, almost a year later, have to retake my credit counseling course FOR THE THIRD TIME and start over with a new attorney and all new paperwork.
Thank you, Ms Belt Scibelli for wasting a year of my life and taking my money for no work.
I guess my review is simply this; it is my opinion that the aforementioned attorney is without skills or expertise in the law or working with clients and my recommendation would be to steer clear of this individual.
Oh, and Kelly… I want my money back.
