Enjoyed this nice little resturant. Lots to choose from, decent price for the amount of food you receive. My husband got the ½ rack and it was great. I got the double play platter and it was good, but not great. The brisket was dried out some. The corn bread is the best I have ever had! And not sure what they put in their potato salad, but it is amazing! We drove an hour to try this resturant and we are glad we did!

We ate there this evening. The brisket was outstanding. The best I’ve had outside of Franklin’s in Austin, Tx. Great flavor, moist, tender, great smoke ring, and delicious. My wife had the pulled pork and reported it to be average. I tasted it and instantly remembered why I always ordered brisket. Not that it was bad, but just average. Good service and friendly people cooking and serving.

Nothing is bad here. It is the beast BBQ around. If you live in Quincy you already know this. If you are passing through and you like BBQ, you have to eat here! All of the meats are smoked and tasty, they have a good BBQ sauce and all of the sides are fantastic. I especially like their green beans and cornbread. The restaurant is on the small side and they close far too often for my taste but I highly recommend it. AWESOME!

Fatback’s is a great and often overlooked spot in Quincy, especially for lunch. They are also known for treating veterans right, which is always a good thing. Had the pulled pork nachos during my last visit and they did not disappoint. They had the right mix of pork, sauce and jalapeños. They were honestly so good that it will be hard to order something different the next time I visit!

I was so glad to get to taste this food. I was one of the members of the traveling team and we had a whole spread. I love the sauce, it was sweet and spicy. The chicken was cooked well and even though I don’t eat beef, I had to taste the brisket because it looked so good. It was tender and juicy. The cornbread and greens were like my grandmother’s. I appreciate not having to eat pizza and McDonald’s all weekend while at basketball games. If we are back I will definitely return.

Great BBQ! Brisket is tender and the sauce is exceptional with a touch of curry? You just have to try it.

If you’re ever anywhere near Quincy, you gotta stop by for a bite at Fatbacks. They have racks of trophies behind the counter for their finger-kickin good bbq. Bring your appetite and get a judge’s box to get a good sample of the brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and bbq chicken. Also grab some cornbread which is nice and moist and just tastes fantastic. Nice staff, better food. Was in town for a couple weeks and ended up having to swing by at least once a week. Bangin!

Not fancy, just genuine BBQ! Great BBQ, the real deal. Very small family operation– no table service, but there are some tables and chairs to sit at after ordering. Consistently good food, winners of numerous BBQ competitions. Really excellent BBQ, and friendly folks. try the BBQ nachos– amazing!

Great food. Non chain family start-up restaurant with a small but adequate menu where every item is full of flavor and well prepared. Tasty business. It’s not fancy décor or place settings. Small indoor eating space with seating for about 25ish. Great for take out as well. Excited to see this place grow as it gets more established with time. Awesome potential. By far some of the best BBQ in Quincy. Ask the owner chef Donnie what’s the best on the menu and he’ll honestly say… It’s all good, give any of it a try. A woman sitting next to me said she wanted to be buried in their mac’n cheese. I’ll have to try that next time.

If you have never been here? and either live in or are near Quincy, GORIGHTAWAYANDTRYIT! As always it is my quest to find new food gems in the towns I visit. I found this gem by chance and am head over heels about it. I could describe why I love this place for dozens of reasons, but I’ll stick to the highlights: The ribs: the ribs are cut on site and are closer to St. Louis style but have more meat at the top of the rack than most cuts, and is tender and full of flavor. The color has that great pink hue found only in smoked meats, and they fall off the bone. You can get them wet or dry, but it doesn’t matter in the end because you will be happy either way. The cornbread: I’m a cornbread junkie, ask anyone that knows me. But this corn bread truly is revelation in a mouthful. They don’t serve you some tiny sad muffin. Rather they send out a nice slab of moist cornbread that you never have to put butter on. The sides: also cooked on site, they are all excellent; the Mac and cheese has a light flavor that compliments the meal, the beans are outstanding, and the coleslaw is one of the best I have ever had. Using what seems to be dill pickles, it adds a great flavor dimension to a dish I usually find overdone. The environment: down to earth is the best way to describe it. These people clearly know what they are doing and do it well, and haven’t over compensated with an ostentatious dining room. It is a clean and simple setup that let’s you concentrate on how good the food is. Overall, this is one of the best BBQ joints I have ever been to and one of the best places in all western Illinois.

Full disclosure– my rating and review is probably biased. I live in Chicago and come to Quincy every few months to visit the BF. I am surrounded by excellent BBQ restaurants– in fact Chicago RibFest was the weekend prior to my visit to Fatbacks, so I had high expectations. We got the 7−7−7 that included both ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The ribs were alright. They were a little tough in my opinion, but the BF thought they were delicious. The brisket was a little dry and I honestly could not tell if the pulled pork was included or if it was mixed in with the brisket. Overall, I thought the place was decent and worthy of a 3 star rating. I think if you asked a Quincy local, they would probably rate this place 4 – 5 stars.

I wasn’t in the mood for fast food or the traditional franchise sit-down types. So what to do? Unilocal to the rescue! If you like BBQ, then this will suit you fine. Service was a bit spotty(trivial mistakes that rile some folks), but overall a great visit.

Portion sizes could be a little larger, but the meat is delicious. It is definitely worth a visit a few times a month.

I just tried Fatback’s the other day and was very happy with the food that I purchased. I bought a whole chicken and a pound of brisket to take home. The chicken was very juicy and had a really good taste. The brisket was super good. It wasn’t sauced but they included a side of sauce for it. It was good without the sauce but amazing with it. They threw in a piece of cornbread(1 piece with a whole chicken and a pound of brisket) and despite not being enough of it, it was super tasty as well. There have been 3BBQ places spring up in the past month or two in Quincy. I’ve been to all 3 and I feel that this one’s the most reasonably priced and has the best BBQ.
