My wife and I lived just down the road from Rainers for about two years before we made our first visit. Restaurants in hotels don’t always have the best reputation, but we were in the mood for some German food, and it was only a 5 minute ride, so we decided to give it a chance. We’re glad we did. For whatever reason, whenever I try to describe the dining room, the first phrase that pops into my head is «Sherlock Holmes» I’ve never read the books, or seen the movies, but it feels like an old school study or den of some sort. It might not suit everyone’s tastes, but I liked the old school, charming feel of it. We usually sit near a good sized gas fireplace. It’s not a huge room, but I’ve never seen it more than half full, there is a bar area separated by a partial wall that seems to be busier ever time we’ve been. The food itself was excellent. We haven’t strayed from the German menu yet, but there are other options. Meals started with a soup or salad. One night we received a single piece of bread each, with 4 pat sof butter each. The next time, there was no bread at all. One night the spetzle was outstanding, another night just good. We were told there are different chefs on different nights. Entrees were excellent, flavorful and filling. The first two times we went, we thought we’d have enough time for desert, however both nights, service was fairly slow. One night there was maybe two other tables there, but our entrees still took almost an hour to come out. The third time we went we picked a night where we had no time constraints, and we enjoyed a quiet night by the fireplace and were able to get some quite nice deserts. We’ve added it to our rotation.

There is no way this place should be getting 5 stars. The food: We ordered pasta, and two styles of Schnitzel. The food was decent, flavorful and well seasoned. My veal was a little thick, but the sauces were very good. The Atmosphere… Prepare to walk back into 1983. Wow. the elevator music was amazingly awful. the décor looks like it has not been touched since the 70’s or 80’s and not in pleasant way. The Service… My wife asked for a non-alcoholic beer and was told by the waitress they didn’t have any. After looking at the menu I see two types of NA beer. After ordering our beer the waitress brings the bottles with the caps on the bottles… and these were not twist-offs. Very strange. When our dinner’s came, our drinks were empty and no one asked us if we wanted more. until the check in half way through. And even then our second round of drinks never came. Nothing worse then good German food with no beer.

Excellent food, great staff, and good prices. I have had every burger on the menu, and probably half of the rest of the menu. Have not had a bad meal at all!

The food is amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ate off of their German menu and it was delicious. If I had to make a negative comment it would be the décor is a bit outdated but once you taste the food you won’t even notice. The price is very reasonable aswell.

After spending all day at the soocer fields we returned to the Ramada. We wanted wanted a nice dinner but were all tired. The menu for Rainer’s looked good, especially the German fare so we thought we’d give it a try. We were welcomed upon entering by a very friendly staff. It has a cozy and very warm feeling dining room with a bar. There were several groups, including a larger one, and we were all seated quickly. I ordered Pork Weiner Schnitzel with salad. Salad was a large fresh side salad. Dinner portion was huge and as good as when some Austrian friends visited and made it in our home. Spaetzel was delicious and everyone in our family liked the vegetable side of green beans and carrots that were perfectly cooked with still a bit if crunch. My husband ordered Pamesean Crusted Sirloin with Spaetzel with Beef Vegetable Soup. He ordered medium rare and it came out closer to medium. Colleen immediately offered to get him a whole new one. He declined despite her repeated offer. He said it was still juicy, great tasting and the parmesean crust was delicious! The beef vegetable soup had a great clear broth with fresh vegetables and seasoned perfectly. My teenage son ordered the Bohemian Schnitzel. As he is not a fan of swiss they substituted it for mozzarella. The portion that came out was huge! He could not finish it and we had to take it with us. He loved the vegetables and Spaetzel! We ordered the Apple Strudel with came out warm and was amazing a perfect end to a great dinner. Colleen gave us a larger piece(looked like a double serving) to take care of us for hubby’s steak, which again was fine. One thing I noticed was how all the staff worked together to handle the larger party there. They treated the party of 10 or so teenage boys as great as the other parties. Not all places do this so well. If we are back this way, we all agreed we would come back. We all would recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to have a nice, relaxing dinner at a place with a warm atmosphere and great friendly service.

From the first time I was at Rainers, which was for a banquet, the food and the service was exceptional . After I saw the German menu I have been back three times to sample that. Each time the food is superb and the service is excellent. Colleen and Rainer and staff are very welcoming. Certainly a resturant to return to . Frank.

We have used Rainer’s for many of our catering/event needs. The food and service are always top notch! Rainer’s now has a year round restaurant within the Ramada and we are pleased to know their food is always available — scrumptious! Rainer’s has served us for banquets, our wedding and most recently a baby shower! Thank you for your genuine compassion in making all our events so special. Highly recommend Rainer’s at the Ramada!

Staying at the Ramada in Queensbury/Glens Fall NY for a couple of days at Gore Mountain. Didn’t feel like going out(or having a meal at Olive Garden). Rainer’s, on-site, was a great option! I only post when disappointed or very pleased. Great friendly service, French onion soup(which I rarely order but earned after a vigorous day of skiing) was flavorful, seasoned well, not overly nor overly cheesy(more’s not always better). Steak prepared well, inexpensive decent wine by the glass, sides were better than plain and complemented the entrees. Although a little late on a weeknight, we were the only ones seated, cozy in the bar next to the fireplace. Is it because the hotel’s down a long private street off the beaten path, or do the locals upstate here not appreciate the quality offered?(Olive Garden’s busy!) I understand that their catering is their primary business, but the restaurant is very good and should be better attended. Hope they do well, it is earned and deserved.

This restaurant is fantastic. We stopped to have a drink and after taking a look at their menu we decided to stay. We were delighted to the max and stayed for a great meal. I tried the schnitzel and it was tender along with the spaetzle which is freshly made everyday and awesome. My other half had the burger special which was cooked perfectly and delicious. We decided to have dessert which we split, I have to tell you the apple strudel is to die for. I usually never dine at hotel restaurants but this place is an exception to my rules, I have declared Rainer’s at the Ramada a gem and will dine here often.

We stayed two nights at the hotel. The first night we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant because we didn’t want to go out
