Hannaford Food and Drug Superstore

Growing up, I had my small town grocery stores, but as I got older, my hometown Stop & Shop in Northwestern Connecticut was replaced by Super Stop & Shop. The local Big Y and Price Chopper locations were getting bigger as well. Soon, banks were popping up inside of them, as well as pharmacies, Boston Markets, and Starbucks. As a New Yorker, I tend to do most of my grocery shopping at the local small Fine Fine, akin to the smaller grocery stores of my youth. Hell, I do plenty in my local bodega! However, while up in Lake Luzerne for Labor Day Weekend, I went with the beau’s family to Hannaford… and I’m pretty sure I could fit everyone on my block in there with ample room to spare! It’s BIG. It was almost a tad disconcerting! Easily, it’s one of the biggest grocery stores I’ve ever been to. That bodega I do my grocery shopping at? I could fit roughly 50 of them inside this building. Ha!
Needless to say, anything you could want in the realm of food and drink, you can get at Hannaford. I’m a fast walker, but it easily took me five minutes to walk from end to end. We were getting food and drinks for a barbecue dinner; the butcher hand picked five filet mignons for us, and they ended up being incredible. The produce we bought was fresh, and the selection of craft beers and hard ciders was pretty expansive as well.
I know why the beau’s family goes to stock up at this Hannaford when they’re upstate for the summer. It’s wonderful, albeit a tad overwhelming!

This was the first Hannaford in the area, and it has evidently been renovated since it first opened, because on the inside it looks like it could have been built in the last year. If you are familiar with the renovations at the Hannaford in Saratoga/​Wilton the layout of this Hannaford will be very familiar. But it feels slightly larger, at least in the specialty departments around the peripheral of the store. It’s clean, it’s bright, it’s well-​maintained. The aisles are very wide, very easy for carts to go in both directions without interfering with each other. The cashiers are very friendly, and there are several self-​checkouts if you prefer to do it yourself. The prices and selection are typical for a Hannaford. I enjoyed shopping here.
