I live in Ozone Park and this is my go-to place!!! My only problem with this place is its lack of consistency. Most of the time, the food is cooked to perfection. However, there are occasions when the food could be better. One of my favorite dishes from La Cabaña is «bistec a lo pobre». It consists of fried eggs, rice, fries and sweet plantains and of course, steak. The steak is typically well-seasoned and juicy. The roast chicken is also one of my favorites, especially when you get the special that comes with beans, salad, fried green plantains(or sweet plantains). The special comes with enough food to feed a small family. Their secret green hot sauce is AMAZING! The green hot sauce is perfectly balanced and goes well with everything on the menu!

I’ve been here a few times. It’s a small cozy location. Initially the wait was long(about 40 minutes) for food, however I have noted significant improvement since my initial visit circa February. I came here with my mom for dinner recently and the wait for food was just about 20 minutes. The food is consistently yummy and fresh. There are several Peruvian spots in the area, but this place by far excels. The only complaint I have is that it’s a bit chilly in the colder months. Oh and if you pay with a card, they don’t have a space to tip! So bring some cash!

Honestly out of all the Peruvian restaurants that I’ve tried around my area, this has the be the best one. I come here often with friends and family and the food is always delicious. The prices are inexpensive and the waiting time isn’t too bad. Unless of course it gets super busy. The only thing they should improve on is the amount of servers there. There usually is one waitress that works there and when it gets super busy it can get pretty hectic. She’s usually the only person doing all the work and customers get pretty ansy and impatient at times. Other than that, I highly recommend everyone to come and try this place out!

I came here on a Friday night, the place was busy but I was seated immediately. The waitress came by took our orders and brought us over some corn munchies, which was pretty good. Our food arrived fairly quickly, I ordered the grilled steak and my friend had the half chicken. The food was on point but the way we were treated by the waitress makes me second guess if I will be back at this place again. After getting our food, the waitress did not check in on us even once(we were there for an hour and a half.) My friend tried to get her attention twice but she completely ignored him. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting after we had finished eating; finally my friend got up and went to the bar area, there was a little girl there that had to tell the waitress to get us the bill. Even after she came, she never asked how the food was, if we needed anything else; she just gave us the bill and disappeared. What made me angry is that there were other customers eating that she would frequently check up on, we felt totally ignored and disrespected. I don’t know if its because we were not the expected skin color of people dining in a Peruvian restaurant, but we were ignored while the others seemed to be getting a rather decent experience. I am very disappointed as the food is very good, I think the name of the waitress was Luis M. I am not sure if I will be coming back to this restaurant because of how horribly I was treated.

I’m a regular at this place. My preference over any other peruvian restaurant in the area and definitely trumps the chain peruvian food restaurant, «pio pio». The price for what you would pay for at pio pio, you’d pay about 40% less at la cabana peruana. It’s graded an A and if you do go make sure you ask for Luis, fantastic server and just a fun guy in general.

The food is good. But they take too long to have your order ready. Took me more than an hour for two whole chickens. They could have told me that earlier rather than making me run outside to fill the meter. Parking tickets are no joke in NYC. I advice if you make an order to pick it up… To call way ahead of time and good luck with the parking.

After I finally received my order. I realized the woman forgot about the extra rice I told her I had wanted. I called her and told her there was no extra rice, she places me on hold, comes back, and says«sorry momma, the cook forgot. What do you want to do?» A) she said it in the rudest tone ever, B) that’s a question you should answer, not me. Worst«customer service» ever!!!

I’m a Peruvian food lover and I have tried many places. Chicken chaufa and jalea. Seafood done right, I’m sold. A gem in the neighborhood!

Using the menu from , I called and ordered a family combo#4. On the online menu it says $ 19.99. I go there preparing to pay exactly that amount and the man says«$ 24». I took a look at the menu that was ONTHECOUNTER and it says«$ 21.99» and I thought, maybe the menu online was outdated, fine. But $ 24? It’s inconsistent– what you see on the ACTUAL menu vs. what he said. When I ask him, he says, «Chicken is getting expensive and it’s better than chicken from the Chinese restaurant». I think that he used that reference because of the fact I’m of Asian descent. It didn’t hit me until I almost got home. Uh, the ignorance of some people??? *rolls eyes I FELTGYPPED. I hate feeling gypped. Already decided that I’ll never go there again, I open the bag and the styrofoam container filled with yellow plantains have melted and created a hole and the plantains were already starting to fall from the hole. The food is alright, but it didn’t exactly hit the roof. The fried yellow plantains weren’t as sweet as I thought they’d be but still were satisfying as they were cooked well. The fried rice was a bit bland and has room for improvement(just a bit more salt). The salad came with a nicely fanned avocado, cucumbers, tomatoes and tastes fresher than a few of the restaurants in Ozone Park(realized I didn’t point out a nationalistic insult?). The chicken was well cooked but I’m not crazy about it. The portions were huge and we ended up having leftovers. They definitely didn’t skimp on the food. No forks, knives whatsoever but ok, I should have checked before I left. I understand business can be rough at times(I’m only judging from the volume of customers we see as we pass by each time), but you can’t possibly EXPECT people to come back when they feel GYPPED in every aspect of the word. Had the Seafood Fried Rice/Arroz chaufa de Mariscos for the first time today, delicious! For $ 16, you get a green mussel, a clam, half a soft shell crab, squid, and octopus. A wonderful dish for a reasonable price. Use the cilantro lime creama that that provide you for some acid to round out your pallet.

I love the baked chicken and french fries with the green sauce. I used to order from here every week. One time I called in to order and a snotty man answered the phone. He was beyond rude. The owner and his wife are very nice people but I think they were away for a week. The person that was left in charge charged me for everything. Instead of the extra sauce being 50 cents, he charged me $ 1. I said no thanks and left without returning. I rate the food 5 stars but because of the rude«manager» that was left in charge, I give the customer service three thumbs down !

I love their food! I eat there at least once a week. It is cheap and the portions are big. The menu is big, so you can find a lot of different things. I like that is homey atmosphere. The only thing is they do not have bread, and that is a big problem for me. I am European so… :) But they let me bring my own. Very kind people.

Love this place, it opened up pretty recently but they’re so so good. My grandmother lives right down the block and I come here to eat every time I visit. The chicken is superb and for only 8 or 9 bucks for a whole chicken you can’t ask for more. They’re spicy salsa verde that comes with the chicken taste just like Pio Pio’s. The closest I’ve ever tasted. I got that with the fried calamari which came with this onion criole sauce and it was great. I highly recommend this place.
