Only when I’m in the area and need an item and can’t make it to another supermarket. Their items are often expired. You have to check dates. Produce is a hit and miss so I usually skip.

When I first moved to the area and shped at this Key Food, I was intrigued by the homely smell of baked bread. The establishment was clean and I was shocked to notice a seafood department in the back of the store. They only had fresh fish and shrimp and they did have crab legs but unfortunately they were frozen in a bag. After visiting this establishment, the smell of baked bread seems to fade over a course of time. I only go there to pick up some itwms, but not to do a big shopping. I love a good deal and they have some when its items on sale. I was dissapointed that they do not carry certain items, such as Skinny Pop and I loooooovvvve some Skinny Pop. I asked the manager why don’t they carry this item and he said that its basically not in high demand. The customer service can be a little better, but overall its OK for my needs.

This Key food is clean and spacious to shop! The parking lot is pretty big and they don’t share it with any other business! There is a TD back next door which is cool since I bank there! The LIRR isn’t far too it too so that is cool too if you live around there! However the shopping carts can’t go into the parking lot which is silly because how is one to load your food into there car! They really need to change that because it’s a struggle! Today I went shopping to this key food for the first time and this annoyed me. On top of that the sale signs were off! I didn’t want to argue about them honoring the price so I just brought a few ideas and vow not to go back to this key food again! I refuse to be arguing and being frustrated so they just will not get my money is all!

This Supermarket sucks Horribly. I live in the neighborhood and come here often but only for side items like rice and pasta sauce. Are Health Inspections required for markets because I’m sure this one would have a Grade Pending… It’s horrible when you can not buy meat or produce from your neighborhood store. Don’t get me wrong QV is not Bayside but it’s definitely not Southside either. It’s a residential community; can we get some love :) I feel bad for the people who can not drive to another market and have to depend on this crap.

They have decent weekly sales which helps my shopping trips. It could be cleaner and more organized. They dont carry alot items from healthy choice. The deli has selections. Make sure you try the jerk turkey. Alot of stores wont carry that turkey. My God if you have a taste for spicy thats the turkey to get. The prices are nothing special. They have express line of twenty items or less. You can get home delivery.

Poor customer service leads to a seriously poor rating. Not only lack of courtesy and respect but a lack of many items available. I used to always go there for my Jamaican Rice and Peas as a shortcut. They stopped selling it. I asked the manager to consider restocking it he said give him a week and a whole year later still nothing. The produce section is where most times you can find a decent veggie or fruit once you get past the rotting ones. SMH. They actually put a bunch of the rotting fruits/veggies in a plastic wrap and put a Sale sticker on it and price it for a dollar. Hello? Department of Health? Yes… Okay. I love to cook. I mean really, that’s actually pertinent information here because that’s why were going food shopping right? Right. Don’t plan any fancy meals if Key Food is your shopping option. Not many Asian Items available, No French and Spanish Items are basic and limited. Their Meat Selection leaves so much to be desired. Key Foods idea of a great steak is Chuck. Ummm no. Thanks. That’s the toughest cut of steak available. On the rare occasion you do find a Shell steak or a rib eye they ate cut wrong. Why on earth would you bother with a Shell steak that’s ½″ thick? Or a Ribeye with Brown Spots and stamped with Managers Special? Again I’ll pass. I don’t feel I’m asking for too much. I want Quality over Quantity when it comes to my food. Is that too hard to ask for? Possibly. There are some people in there who do smile, two to be exact. Whenever I’m in there for Milk, eggs and bread they’re very cordial. Other then them(an older heavyset Indian woman at the front and a tall slim spanish older man who stocks) everyone else’s attitude says very clearly: Minimum Wage doesn’t pay enough for me to ring up your things AND smile.

This neighborhood supermarket has the potential to be so much better. However, horrible management prevents this place from meeting its potential. 1.) The customer service is horrible. Countless times, I have come here to be met with attitude by cashiers who very often make no eye contact. A lot of these cashiers are young women from the hood who bring their drama problems to work. Also, a lot of the cashiers rush thru the transactions and they often forget to apply in store-coupons or deals. 2.) Poor management skills. I had a friend who brought in her lil dog to the market n the manager went nuts n screamed at her in full view of other shoppers. I’ve also seen managers give stern lectures to staff in front of shoppers. 3.) Horrible food selection. Whoever places the orders has their set favorites n they do not alternate. Despite major renovations, there are major flaws in terms of food selection and in-store set-up… SUMMARY: A bootleg supermarket in where you’ll must likely come out feeling miserable about your life. It’s best to get on the highway and head to a quality supermarket.
