Love this place! We will forever check to see if BB’s has it first and attempt to never buy anything from a ‘regular’ grocer again. It’s worth the drive

No matter what any one says. This is the cheapest place to get groceries for nothing! I get my meat, frozen veggies, milk, can soup, juices, toilet paper, paper towels, dog treats, dog food, trash bags, any cleaning supplies and endless shelves of food! I thank God for this store. I live on a tight budget and this is the only place I shop. I go once a month because I live in Maryland. For one month I spend 170 dollars. I am stocked for 1 whole month and sometimes I still have food left over! I NEVER go to the regular grocery stores anymore.

Although I consider myself to be quite thrifty I’m not a bargain grocery shopper beyond my regular grocery store sales and coupons. So when BB’s was suggested to me over and over again as a must go I didn’t feel compelled to check it out. To me driving from my home in Hempfield to the Solanco area for a few dented cans and expired cereals didn’t excite me. I hate going to the grocery store to begin with and unlike thrifting there’s nothing fun about the«hunt» of discount groceries. Digging thru pallets of damaged food for that one perfect box of pasta is not my idea of a fun time, sorry! Now that you know the back story I did find myself in that area an hour early for a party with nowhere else to kill time. BB’s to the rescue!!! Pleasantly surprised was an understatement! My expectations were dented cans, expired foods, damaged boxes, and a poor assortment and no organization. Although there is a few dents, dings, and expired products the majority of what they sell is perfectly fine, grocery store shelf quality items. There was some organization to the madness although it wasn’t perfect by any means. You might find pickles with the ketchup AND with jarred foods for example but for the most part once you get a feel for the store it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. There was a small selection of fresh produce, probably locally grown, as well with prices far better than buying directly from the farmers themselves. What surprised me most in addition to the prices — .25 Muscle Milk(gasp!!!) was the quality of some of the food brands. Organic, higher ends Wegaman’s brands, food of all ethnicities, and selections of your favorites that you won’t find anywhere else. Who knew there were that many varieties of Hamburger Helper?!? Not I!!! On the negative expect the screaming, unattended and ill-behaved children that is ever-ly present at anyplace cheap. A negative I can overlook, after all I’m there for the deals, not the experience! There are two kinds of cooks — the quick to the table processed food folks and the only cook from scratch gourmet kinda folk…, me? I’m somewhere in the middle. This place was perfect for both kinds of cooks and everyone in between! Unfortunately due to our requirement at an event we didn’t tempt ourselves to go into the refrigerated/frozen section but I’m hearing it’s more of the same. Good food, good selection, at even better prices. Because this is a discount grocery store don’t expect the inventory to be the same — in fact that great brand of spaghetti sauce you never heard of but was fantastic might never be found again, but I’m sure you’ll discover something as equally fabulous and cheap in it’s place. $ 21 total for 5FABRIC(we brought our own) bags of groceries! Holla!!!

Finally had a chance to see what another BBs is like, besides the Newburg store, where I go faithfully once a week. I don’t buy anything at the regular stores without checking at BBs first. They have most everything I need; I might get one or two things at the regular grocery, every few months. They are not a one-stop for meats so every few months I might get something at the meat counter at a grocery store. They are pretty clean so the review that said it is dirty is not accurate. Friends say why don’t you just go to Amelia’s or Aldi’s? Because the prices are not even close to this place. Buy one item and it more than covers my gas both ways. LOVEIT! But if you don’t go, then that just means there’s more for me!!!

My wife and I have been going to BB’s since it was an old converted barn way off the beaten path(Back then, cereal actually sold at 25 cents a box). It’s a great source for finding discounts. And for people who like to sample different foods and products without paying full price, it’s a charm. They do charge full price if they don’t buy it on discount, so you have to know prices. Regards out of date items, the dates on many products are simply so grocers clear their shelves and don’t actually reflect any concern about spoilage. Still, we avoid old items that contain mayo and rusty cans. Use them as a once-per-month grab-a-bargain place, but cannot rely on them to always have what you want.

based on the rave review of a friend i was really excited to come here. i tried once on a saturday and there was literally no where to park(so full) that i decided to come back another day, and i did so on a wednesday around 10 am. even then it was extremely full, very few spots for cars or buggies were left! it is worth a trip here at least once to see the spectacle: people running around looking for the best deals, going through huge bins of soap or foods. but it’s just kind of strange. and also dirty. and everything is out of date or extremely short dated(one week ahead of time is about the best you will find on dry goods). i was actually not that impressed on their prices for laundry detergent but i did get some good deals on dog food and a watermelon for $ 2. so if you don’t care about expiration dates and are looking for a bargain you will love this place. however, if expired dates weird you out you’re not going to find a lot.
