I wouldn’t even give this company one star but it won’t let me leave no stars. The company owner, Rich, came out and didn’t even run any tests. Didn’t even look at my last air filter, just announced I needed to buy a new furnace. He went off on some long explanation about how a $ 1 air filter can ruin the entire furnace and then he quoted me the price of a replacement furnace. He tried to come off like a good guy and giving me a «scratched unit» for cheaper. Since my boyfriend and I were desperate to have a warm house we thought this was our only option and so we put a deposit on the new furnace. The next day after looking into things we verified he doesn’t even have a contracting license to be working on people’s houses!!! We had another local company come out and look at it (Cascade Heating & Air out of Graham) and they fixed it no problem in minutes. No replacement needed. Now Puget Sound Heating has half of our money and is not returning our calls… Beware of this business! He doesn’t run tests, he looks it up and down with a flashlight and says it has to be replaced. We saved around $ 2000 by calling Cascade who is accredited on the BBB website.

My furnace died four days ago.
I immediately called a company whose vans I’d seen in the neighborhood but they couldn’t fit in a consultation for two days. So, I Google searched and called another company that had positive reviews on Unilocal and they were able to come out an hour later. The guy told me the furnace was kaput (big surprise… it’s as old as I am) and left me with the consultation bill and a couple of quotes for a replacement. I called them back after getting approval from my landlord and they told me they’d get back to me within a couple of hours but at the end of the day I still hadn’t heard anything. Called the next day, same story but this time I called them until I was able to speak to someone who could schedule an appointment. The guy told me they could come out in a WEEK. A week… in December! Whatever. I booked the appointment and decided to check around with other companies.
Google search #2. Not being at all impressed with the two previous companies I’d contacted, I decided to take a chance and call the un-​Yelped Puget Sound HVAC. My call was answered by Rich, the owner, who just happened to be en-​route to the Eastside. I said I was having furnace trouble and he said, «tell me about your situation.» *I appreciate this because when I called the other companies and said «I’m having furnace trouble» they responded as though I hadn’t called an HVAC company. You know you do furnace repair, right? Right, that’s why I’m calling… don’t act so surprised.* Anyway, I told him it was dead and he said he could be out the same day and if it did need replacing they could do it the next day or, at the latest, the business day after. AND he quoted me significantly less than the other company. And he wasn’t going to charge me for a consultation.
So, he shows up when he says he would and gave us an actual, exact quote right there at the house. Done. One of his guys calls the next day (today, Saturday!) to say he’s on his way and a short time later I have a shiny new furnace and warm toes.
Rich and Eric deserve every single one of those 5 stars because they understand customer service. They did what they said they would, when they said they would and didn’t rip us off.
Working in this business has to be hell this time of year because I’m sure they end up working 16 hour days, but it means the world to people like me… who wouldn’t otherwise have heat in December.
