What a nice and cozy place this was. Little dark, but I could see why this place gets really busy sometimes, especially on the weekends. It was hard to choose between the hobo hash, country fried steak, and a few other dishes. But I went for the uniquely named one, and man it was good. It was a mix of everything scrambled, and it hit the spot. The server who welcomed us in was outstanding from the beginning. Didn’t realize until the end that she was Korean. Her name was Jane Lee I believe, and she was just so great serving my two aunts and I. Ask for her if she’s there, and tip her well if she does serve. Will definitely be back. Excited to try the eggs Benedict that one of the aunts had, or the fried steak!

This place has seem to be going down. Been here many times in the past but this last visit is just horrible. Seriously felt sick after eating. My kids ordered the pancakes which are fluffy and fine. However, the crispy thick bacon that my kids look forward to every visit was a huge disappointment this time. The bacon was barely cooked and therefore was floppy, soggy, and greasy. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak was cooked okay, but the gravy was off. It didn’t taste right. Plus, there wasn’t any flavor at all. My hashbrowns were so undercooked that it almost tasted raw. Thank goodness the eggs were okay. My kids were offered cute kids plate that I had to send back because it was so sticky and gross. Not just a corner of the plate, but the whole thing was just DIRTY. I give 2 stars for this visit because my kid’s pancakes were okay and our server James was great.

Loved this place. Waitressing staff was very froggy and enjoyed picking on my southern accent, really eased me into the somewhat older crowd. Ive been back a few times with my family and the food was always good. I recommend the Hobo Hash, i think the serving size is quit large, as i have never been able to finish it, and no matter how busy, coffee cup never goes dry. Bacon slices are from the stoneage, they are the largest ive seen.

Awesome food for really affordable prices! Bacon is super thick & all of our food was great! Hoping more people stay away so there’s always a table open for my family! Ha!

Update February 2016! The«chef» was apparently fired and the owner has decided he is up to the task of being the«chef», sadly he is not. The food was terrible, over cooked meat, over salted and undercooked eggs. When I sent my second burger back and told the server I didn’t feel I should pay for that item, the owner came out to question me, when I told him the burger was terrible hr began arguing with me and when I told him I sent it back he had the nerve to ask the server«how much was left when he sent it back?» I can’t remember being so insulted by a business owner. At this point I almost left without paying for any of the sub-par food, I only paid for any of it because this guy was not worth my trouble. To see how far this establishment has fallen, simply read my review below that had 5 stars, now I wish I could go to negative 2. Previous review that I wrote 2 months ago: This place is great! It is so easy to write it off as an old, rundown relic, you would be remiss to do that. The food is great and the service is even better. Go in, give it a chance and you’ll be pleased(and full).

Excellent Breakfast. Haven’t really tried their lunch or dinner but I’ve heard it’s good. The décor is really old and kind of dirty looking(the carpet is filthy) but I don’t think the kitchen is unclean. The good food makes the décor acceptable!

This is the best place for bacon, thick cut slices that will never disappoint you. They have great french toast as well! I really enjoy their steaks, surprisingly and have a great over stuffed ham sandwich.

Really like this place. Have been seeing it for years when in town visiting relatives, finally decided to try it and am glad that I did. Good breakfasts, bacon is some of the best that I have ever had. Most times the food came out so fast I was shocked unless they were very busy like on Sunday with the place full. And Dawn the waitress is amazing, what an efficient, hard worker!

Love this place! My go to spot in Puyallup for breakfast! Love the atmosphere, the waiters(although sometimes they take forever) other than that I love this place.

I hadn’t been since I was 11– didn’t like them because they didn’t let me order off the kids menu because it was 10 and under and I was 11(they went out of their way to ask.) anyway it’s been a decade and a half so I went with friends last week. First, we stood at the front 10 minutes before someone told us «sit anywhere». Then another 10 mins for someone to come by. She asked for drinks then brought the toddler the wrong juice. When we ordered, people chose different sides and all of them showed up with tater tots which were not the ones ordered. I had a decent tasting strawberry waffle with a tub’s worth of cool whip on it. When the check came(which was like 10 minutes after we were all ready to go) she had charged us all for coffee which only 2⁄5 of us ordered so we had to hang out at the front another 5 minutes to fix it. Definitely not going back. Though if the staff was different they might have been average.

I went here with no preconceived notions of what I would find. I was told by a local that it was a good place. The first thing that you may notice is how just do you get in there? The front door is located on the side opposite the main street that runs in front of it. Not off to a good start already. Why make your customers hunt for how to get into your place? The next hurdle is when you walk in there’s no hostess or anything of the such. You just stand around wondering if you seat yourself or not. So you decide, «Oh what the hell,» and just take a seat. A waitress comes along soon enough and gives you a menu to peruse and offers the usual«would like like some coffee?» Being the coffee snob that I am I normally always refuse but this isn’t to say that I haven’t tried the coffee at places I’ve never been to before but this is usually contingent upon the place. If it looks like they’re going to have something other than the usual Farmers Brothers swill then I’ll go for it. This place had Farmers Brothers written all over it so I passed on the Java. There does seem to be a lot of older folks in here and to me that’s not always a good thing. I’ve found that most senior citizens, of which I almost am an official member, don’t go for a lot of exoticly flavored dishes just as long as it’s not too bad and it’s cheap. It seems as though they’re the«bacon and eggs» crowd and don’t go for all that fancy schmancy stuff. Not this cat. I want something that’s going to wow me. I don’t really care what it’s going to cost, within reason of course, because you’re going to pay a base price for garbage and it doesn’t cost that much more for a really special meal that you’ll enjoy and look forward to returning for more. If I want homestyle cooking then I’ll cook at home. So I’ve given my order and I wait with bated breath for my food to arrive. Who knows maybe this is a diamond in the rough, a best kept secret, a real find. Nope, not today. If you like what I consider to be bland, run of the mill chow then you’ll be in hog heaven here. The dishes were unimaginative, boring, plain, greasy, and, IMO, not well cooked. I was hungry and ate it anyhow and that was a mistake. The undercooked onions, as in not properly caramelized, brought on some serious gastrointestinal distress later in the day. I’ll spare you the grisly details. Do you think you’ll ever see me in there again? Not bloody likely, but it probably really doesn’t matter to them because they seem to have a loyal enough following to sustain them. More power to them. All businesses exist and survive servicing a segment of the local population. I’m just not one of those that goes for the product that Ma’s Place has to offer and the people that like Ma’s Place probably wouldn’t like the places I like. On to the next place.

I got their eggs Benedict to go because I was on the run and was bringing a meal to my wife. If the parking lot, building, inside is any indication of what your experience is going to be like, then just keep on going because there are plenty of other places to eat in the general area. The place is an absolute dump. How a place passes health code is beyond me. Its uninviting in every way. Local watering hole is all I can make of the place because it was disappointing. The food was unmemorable and lacked flavor. The portion size was generous but I ended up throwing it out as it wasn’t even worth making it out of my fridge to reheat. Sorry Ma, but your place is a joke.

A tip off is all the weeds growing as you walk in… not a lot of pride of ownership. The waitress was a bit surly, the one cook was overwhelmed. a slow kitchen means less turns and unhappy customers. The breakfast food was a average, but not worthy of a return visit.

Hobo hash is to die for! Only reason I’m not giving 5-stars is because of the wait but the food was amazing and staff was on point.

If I was writing this review within an hour of visiting I probably would have given it 3 stars. The food wasn’t excellent, but it was typical greasy spoon breakfast. There seemed to be a fair amount of regulars for whatever that’s worth. I had a normal egg breakfast that was good enough for what it was. It became clear several hours after visiting that this place wasn’t going to agree with me. While the food did it’s job of filling me up at the time, that feeling left… Quickly… Bottom line: I would caution close friends to avoid it, and tell everyone else to try it at least once if you are feeling brave… and have nothing else to do for the rest of the day, you may find yourself busier than you think in a few hours. It doesn’t work for me though, I will not be returning.

SWEET! I finally found a breakfast spot that I really like in Puyallup! This is not a typical place that I would normally like, but I did. I would normally have something to say about the décor, but I didn’t really care, because it was the atmosphere that mattered, and the atmosphere was just right! This is a place that you can tell is filled with people who’ve been coming there for a long time, you could tell that it was filled with regulars, and sometimes that can make you stick out like a sore thumb, but not here. One older guy. a customer noticed us and even came to our table to talk to us. We felt welcomed, and part of the gang after our first visit. Even though this was a first time visit, I loved how it brought back childhood memories of my Grandfather bringing us out to eat. It an a small town country feel to it, and like I said before, the atmosphere is all it takes sometimes. The food, was actually really good, best bacon I’ve ever had! We had a special that was around $ 4 for a huge breakfast. They really try to go for the homemade style food. There was flavor, and everything tasted like it came from my Grandma’s kitchen. I really liked it here!
