Sawmill Pottery in Putnam CT. is a great place to get your hands, your heart and your soul into the creative process! I have recently been taking some pottery lessons and workshops offered there. I have always wanted to try working with clay. Was driving down Rte 44 in Putnam and saw a sign out front of Sawmill offering pottery classes. Took the chance and went in to register, and I am so glad I did! Sawmill impressed me for a few reasons. The studio is set up with everything a budding pottery artist like me could possibly want. Wheels, different clays, slab rollers, a huge selection of glazes and a great space to work. I can’t say enough about the value, the experience, and teaching skills of the instructor/owner Dot. Under her guidance I now can make some really lovely pottery. I’m still amazed at every thing I’m learning to do! Took one of the workshops that was offered and made a one of a kind piece for my garden. The place just has a good energy and friendly vibe. I have met so many great people who share in that exciting creative spark and I find myself wanting to hang out there more and more. It is a bit of a drive for me as I live in Storrs but it’s so worth it!
