This place is a disaster! Waited 15 minutes for two milkshakes with NO other customers in the restaurant! $ 12.00, highway robbery for crappy service!

This place has significantly gone down hill. Place is dirty. Menu, prices have jumped, quality has gone down. Food was served cold, except the onion rings, which were burnt. French fries had to have been cut from tiny potatoes. $ 31 for 2 people. We ate hot dogs, cold hot dogs.

Great hot dogs and sausages, but heavy on the butter and grease. Haute Dog is a small, casual hot dog and sausage joint in downtown Purcellville. They promise quality fresh, local meats, and they certainly deliver that. They really are top notch in that regard! They also prepare your food right in front of you, and you can see first hand that everything is made fresh to order. They offer a variety of toppings, ranging from traditional to niche, to suit any palate. Their signature dogs are well thought out and generally very tasty. In particular, the«bombshell»(sautéed onions, mango pineapple relish, and jalapeños) is a uniquely satisfying salty-sweet-spicy treat. The biggest reason for docking stars is the amount of extra butter and grease they add. I don’t go to places like this looking for health food, but I feel that the added fat really distracts from the flavor of the meat, which is a shame because the meats are so tasty. The other problem is that the restaurant isn’t very well ventilated, so all the smoke from the flat top goes right into the dining area. It can be kind of choking at times. Lastly, it’s kind of spendy for what it is. A typical meal(dogs/sausage, side, and drink) usually runs about $ 15 per person before tip. Overall, it’s tasty, but it’s definitely a «once in a while» kind of place for us.

Great hot dogs with big selection. Here are the reasons for 3 stars: the only size of fries is humongous. My husband and I together couldn’t finish it. The décor needs sprucing up(ripping wallpaper) and there were a lot of flies. Lastly, my husband wanted a Coke from the fountain machine and they said it had been broken since Saturday. It was Tuesday. They also did not offer him a refund on the drink.

Everything was great. The bun was fresh and warm, the chili was delicious over my juicy dog, steak fries where hot with just the right amount of crispness.

Great dogs. The buns are what sets the whole package apart. Try the wiener sauce, it is better than the chili.

It was good, but I expected the sausage to be a little more since I’m paying $ 9 for it. Tater tots were great, extremely nice service, just again… Expected more.

Good dogs and menu. Everything was hot and the tator tots were super crispy with a really good spiced ketchup. The Banh Mi hot dog was really good and the Chicago Dog was packed full and excellent. Buttered buns were awesome. Other dogs we had were great, as well. It is the toppings and bread that really make these great.

Went back for a second try and the food was delicious, fries perfectly cooked, and my grandson had a milkshake that was wonderful. My only complaint was that I should have ordered a second chili dog(not that I was hungry, but it was so good I wanted more!). Recommend for quality, price(especially with a coupon) and amazing selection of hot dogs, with some locally-sourced sausages served.

Not great. Over priced for small dogs IF you get what you asked for. Of the 5 things I ordered 2 were wrong, and my son was missing his juice. The food is definitely good, but will leave you hungry if you don’t fill up on fries.

Luckily I didn’t come for the service, so the cashier who acted about as happy as Squidward to be at work, or the fact that he messed up my order when we were his only customers, didn’t stop me from loving the place… the dogs are amazing! The buns are like fluffy Texas toast and the menu offers lots of options. It’s kind of like Cold Stone, where you can be creative as you want to be, or you can get something the experts put together for you.

This place is awesome. All sorts of ways to have your dog topped. They have amazing dipping sauces for your french fries. Have been here numerous times and am finally giving them the recognition they deserve.

Yum, yum! Many delicious options and toppings. service was quick and food was delicious. I had the Chicago dog and my husband had the Coney Island dog. I was very pleased that they also offered gluten free rolls! Will definitely be back!

My lady took me to haute dog because I’ve never been there before. One word about sums it up… Meh… it was not the greatest hot dog I’ve ever had… Had the bombshell. It was just kinda bland with more of diced up fruit and veggies instead of a relish. The bun and actual dog were good. The lady got the Coney dog. All you could taste was the celery salt. On a side note the tater tots were scrumptious. So all in all. A step or two up from a big bite only twice as expensive. They do have an expansive selection… So next time I’ll give a basic no frills dog a try and see how that goes

Good, but not super amazing. I love the unique menu and ingredients they have to offer, and the eclectic décor is pretty charming too. A few times I’ve been here and the dog and bun together were just a little too dry. Most times, there’s just a little bit too much bun going on… either the bun is a tad too big or the dogs are a tad too small, but it makes it kind of awkward to eat as one bite-full is all the good stuff, and the second bite-full is just pure bun. The fries are also pretty limp every time I get them, so I guess they’re supposed to be that way, but I think they’re a bit too much so sometimes. I think they also must’ve increased their prices recently, which kinda puts me off of coming here that often. Again, they’re good, but not $ 14.50 for a sausage dog, fries, and a drink good.(Plus $ 0.75 for chipotle mayo… which is definitely tasty and everyone should try it, but I think I remember this stuff being free before.) EDIT: Been back here a few times since writing this review, and the hot dogs seem to be a lot more consistent. They’ve added new things, the hot dogs aren’t dry, and I love the new Haute fries!(fries with chipotle mayo and sriracha sauce!) I’ve upped my review to 4 stars. Bravo!

After seeing there are 79 reviews of this place, and piles of pictures, I figured I wouldn’t bother to add my opinion. Surely everything was covered. Right? Wrong! I don’t know how everyone managed to do it, but no one mentioned the restaurant’s signature hot dog — the Haute Dog. They do a fine job with all their dogs and sausages. All seem good, some are excellent. But the Haute Dog is unique and wonderful. Same great grilled top split bun, great hot dog, fine mayo and mustard. The magic is in the Haute Dog RELISH. This is a proprietary, house made, owner recipe, onion relish that is as dark as mahoganey from the cooking and the seasonings. There are lots of nuances to it, but I particularly enjoy the slight touch of cinamon. The other spices elude me, but I think it takes them all to create the wonderful balance. This visit I also had a Chicago Dog. Now I have to tell you that they do take some liberties with a Chicago Dog, so if you are a fanatic about authentic, you won’t be happy. But if you can have a little flexibility, their poetic license created a Chicago-inspired dog that was tasty and fun. Not in the same ball park as the Haute Dog, but good. To reiterate, order their Haute Dog. It is a unique vision of what a relish can do for a dog. I hope you like it. I bet you will.

Although I am not the biggest fan of going out for a hot dog this is a great Purcellville establishment. The way they grill the buns makes it worthwhile. I like the huge assortment of toppings and dogs they offer as well as local sausages and sliders. The fries are really good and you can fill your own soda too. They usually have a pretty good special and Unilocal!check in offers.

We ordered the NY Reuben, District Dog, Fenway, chili cheese fries and the haute fries. The bread completely dwarfed the hot dog and toppings. The bread is really good, but 25% too much. It seemed like the toppings kind of overpowered the hot dog too, but they were flavorful. The chili on the fries was bland and only brought to life by the cheese. Some fries were a little soggy, but the majority were tender/crispy. The haute fries came with ample mayo/sriracha — which is a very tasty combo. If I lived in Pucellville, I could be swayed in returning. What clinched it for me though, is the free arcade game machine in the back. I can’t remember all the games it had, but there’s Frogger, Dig Dug, 3 different Donkey Kongs, Pac Man and many more. The joystick is a little ticky, but hey, it’s all free!

Thank you LivingSocial, once again, for introducing us to a new ‘eating establishment’ in the far off town of Purcellville. Yes, we visit often because we have family here! I had googled Haute Dogs and Fries to find their website and to drool over their fabulous variety of dogs and side dishes. Their options are limited so come here either wanting a lobster roll or select from a variety of hot dogs and sides. We opted for ‘hot dogs and sides’. I love their side dish options: tator tots, hand cut fries, mac/cheese, chili mac, and oodles of other choices. We chose tots and fries. I ordered the ‘select your own toppings’ and selected chili, cheese and potato sticks and the hubby chose the ‘District D. C Dog” — Blue cheese, BBQ sauce, yellow mustard, chopped onions, dill pickle. Their serve the dogs in a butter toasted bun which was heavenly. The only reason for the minus star was that the toppings and dog were really small, and excess bun was left on the plate. I think if we can select toppings, then we should be able to taste and see the toppings ooze off the dog… that’s just me! These hotdogs run about $ 5 apiece so best to take advantage of the special combo meals: Hotdog/side/drink for $ 8.5 All in all, it was a nice fast food dining experience and definitely worth it to use a LivingSocial deal.

Stopped by on my way to Lovettsville to the Christmas tree farm yesterday. This is hands-down, by far, the best hot dog joint I’ve ever been to in my life in terms of how the total package tasted. Forget all the sides and whatnot, sure they have peanut-oil fries and all that stuff, which is great — but if you’re putting your stake in the ground as a hot dog stand then that’s what you’ve got to focus on. And yep, these hot dogs are the bomb. Why? Well, to me, the bun really is the highlight of the package. No exaggeration — the best hot dog bun I have ever had. EVER. I’m not sure where they get them or how they make them. I’ve seen the stand-up thicker slit buns before, but these are like Texas toast. Buttered up and toasty on the sides, nice and wide to hold lots of toppings. Somehow these buns hold tons of toppings without being messy or getting soggy. It’s just perfect. The hot dog itself is delicious too. Perfectly cooked where it’s hot, juicy, firm but with just enough firmness to it to have a great texture. Best hot dog meat I’ve had? Maybe not, but very close. I went with the Three Piece Suit, which is a dog with chili, cheese and onions. It was a tough choice over the chili ‘n’ slaw OBX dog. It was a delicious dog with really good chili. The onions were fresh and sprinkled across in just the right amount. My main complaint is with the cheese, which I expected to be an ooey gooey cheese sauce like you get on a coney dog. It MAY have been, but I think it was actually shredded cheese melted under the chili. I have seen other reviews say they ask you which kind you prefer, but they didn’t ask me. Regardless, there was very, very little cheese on the hotdog. Like really not even enough to taste. Haute Dog is a real gem. Not worth driving all the way out to Purcellville for if you doing live nearby, but if you’re going to be in the area anyway it’d be a crime to skip it. I can’t quite give it five stars, however, because these are expensive hot dogs. I’m used to eating 3 – 5 hot dogs when I do a cookout, so $ 5(roughly) for ONE dog seems really expensive, especially considering they didn’t put much of one of the toppings on my dog. Notice they don’t put prices on their website menu. If they did, I figure most folks would just go buy a pack of hot dogs. Great food, not so great of a value, decent service(pretty much just kids doing the best they can). Be warned that you’re probably better off to get your order to go. There’s not much seating inside, and what they do have is REALLY tight.
