Rodney’s Pizza Place

Born and Raised in Oklahoma, I knew Rodney and Jo since I was 5! Open on Sundays? No, because they have family values and celebrate Christianity. What a breath of fresh air! Aunt Jo was the original owner of Jo’s Pizza. Jo and Rodney were always together making pizza in the back and serving it with the highest level of integrity! Rodney is the original keeping the recipe the way he should and in a way that would make Aunt Jo smile :) He didn’t rip off the other location (Jo’s now in Edmond) –he is Jo’s nephew. I live in the NYC metro area and go to Rodney’s to eat the «fantaaasssstttiiiic Combination thin crust pizza AND to tell him about Aunt Jo who used to give my sister a quarter for gumballs! Love, love, love the Original Jo’s Pizza — RODNEY’S! Ten stars!

I am a Purcell native, although I live in Texas now and Everytime I go home I bring a Mazzios pizza back, I love it!! I have heard about how good Rodney’s was but they aren’t open on Sundays and that’s usually when I leave out. However this past weekend I made it a point to go there… the pizza was freakin delicious!!! So good in fact, Mazzios may not see me for awhile! I must also say the tall, young blond haired kid in the drive-​thru was one if the nicest people I have ever come across. Than You Rodney’s for such a pleasant visit.

LOCATION MOVED TO 1627 S GREENE. Great dining experience. Pizza was delicious and staff was very friendly. Rodney came to our table to visit and he was a very nice guy. Has been in the business for 42 years. We would definitely go back.

The best pizza place ever! Great service, great pizza. Rodney personally comes to your table to see how things are when he’s there. He gives all the kiddos a quarter. It is expensive but so worth it. I request Rodneys for my birthday dinner each year. For your birthday, you get the most amazing fresh baked chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of ice cream.

Excellent pizza fresh meats, peppers very tasty and full-​filling. Salads were good too. The owner was very courteous and greeted every customer with respect… even handed every child a quarter.

This guy Rodney is the one that made the other «famous» place what it was. Great guy & great pizza.

We’ve eaten here at least 5 times, and we really like their pizza… enough that we’ll drive from Norman just to eat there. We did again last night because I was craving their Canadian bacon pizza, and as usual, the pizza was good. But who is is running that place? We walked in and stood at the front for at least 2 minutes, finally we seated ourselves. After sitting at the table for 5 minutes, and all of us staring at the kitchen staff (none of whom appeared to be over 21), a girl finally came and took our drink order (we called our pizza order in ahead). Our drinks were brought, our pizza was brought and all waitressing then ceased. No drink refills, no check nothing. We purchased 3 sodas @ $ 2 and were never given a refill (minus 2 stars), I had to go hunt down an employee for a to go box (and interrupt him from his texting, and he may have been the person in charge… he was wearing khakis) that was another minus star. I then had to hunt down yet somebody else to get our check, and then wait for someone to pay.
Rodney has a good product, expensive but good. But, he really needs to focus on training his staff, because our experience with them was brutal.

Friendly, fast, fantastic. Excellent ingredients. Plenty of toppings… no naked pizza here!

Great pizza. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere.

I found Rodney’s using the Gluten Free Spot app as we were traveling north on I-​35. I’m always in search of a gluten free pizza that tastes like real pizza. I found it here. I mean it & my husband loved it too. He doesn’t have to eat GF and doesn’t usually like it but he loved this. We’ll make the extra drive to Purcell for more of this.

Nice little pizza place. Very clean. The wife and I both got a dinner salad which was pretty good. The salad also came with this little amazing piece of cheese bread.
The pizza was far better than I had expected. We ordered the works with jalapenos. The crust was nice and crisp and the pie was piled high with toppings!
Here is the biggest draw back of this place. The service is very, very, VERY poor. What a let down.

I’d like to give it three stars but it just doesn’t meet the A-​Okay standard in my book.
The pizza was decent. To some this may not be a complaint but for me it is; the pizza had TOO much on it! A little goes a long way and this was seriously piled with may to much ingredients. I couldn’t taste anything individually.
The service is seriously lacking. After our meal was brought to the table nobody ever came back. We needed a to-​go pizza box, we were looking forward to some gelato… needless to say we didn’t even get our check brought to us. We had to go to the front and ask to be checked out and then left w/​o any gelato. :*(

Very good pizza. Well worth the drive from Norman. Not your standard franchise pie! Delicious.

It’s so very yummy! I’ve been coming here since it’s been open and I’ve never been disappointed. Come and give it a try! You will love it. My favorite pizza is the works.
They also have a drive-​through (I think that is for pickup orders… Not sure)
