We’ve been coming here for about 6 months. Their food is always delicious and the everyone who works there is super friendly. Easily the best thing at the Farmers market. Can’t wait til they get their food truck!

If they had 10 stars that’s what I would rate it! We go almost every Saturday! Drive all the way from Moloaa to get our pastele plate fix. John, Rhonda, & Shyla ensure a great experience with every smile. My tummy sounds as we get out of our car and head to where the magic happens. The culture, sounds, and smells lofting about in a farmers market beckon you to come and stay awhile, nothing can quench that appetite until you place a spoon full of JC’s savory pastele and gandule rice in your mouth. Home made painstakingly with a lot of heart in every bite, and before you know it, your back in your car wondering what just happened!!! Is it Saturday yet? It can’t come soon enough! Best pastele on Kauai… best pastele in America!

Awesome Awesome Awesome! Everything we ate was delicious. We had the pastele plate and the nachos and both were so good. Meat seasoned perfectly and loved their sour cream sauce. Totally cravable food!

Our Saturday ritual is to stop at the KCC farmers market and visit John, Rhonda, & Shyla. They have the best pasteles! Their food and their music makes the market a fun place to be!

Authentic Puerto Rican food. Try the pork pasteles plate. I’m from a puerto rican family… and it’s comparable to Grandmas home cooking. Great customer service too!

Omg the Pastele plate is sooooo sooooo good! If you are nearby Kauai Community College on Saturday’s, stop by the Sunshine Market and check this place out! I’ve also had their taco salad and wow! Very very good! Seriously, one of the best places to eat on the entire island!!!

This food is SOGOOD! I love that the whole Cabello family helps out with the cooking, order-taking, and aloha. My favorite dishes are the beef nachos and the potato salad. DONOT miss out on the potato salad! My 14 year old loves the tacos. This food is filling and delicious and it’s prepared on the spot and to order. Nothing is dished up ahead of time(that means no soggy chips or leaky tacos) so you have to wait just a few minutes to get your plate of deliciousness. John and Rhonda prepare your dish the way you want it AFTER you order it! There’s nothing better. Do yourself a favor and stop by JC’s Puerto Rican Kitchen! You’ll be glad you did.

Delicious plate! I got the Pastelle plate, their #1 seller. I never had Puerto Rican food, so I was very curious. It was delicious. Amazing rice &JC’s potato salad was fresh & great tasting. Looking forward to when they get a food truck so I can stop by anytime I get a craving :)

You can find JC’s Puerto Rican Kitchen every Saturday morning at the Kauai Community College Farmer’s Market 9:30 am until 1:00 pm, unless they sell out earlier(which they have). Chef John Cabello has an extensive menu. Over the past year I have tried almost everything and enjoyed it all! My favorite dish for the last year was the JC Puerto Rican Tacos(with beef or chicken — doesn’t matter cause both are ono!). You will be dripping with tasty juices from the meat & salsa so make sure you have some napkins standing by. Recently they expanded their menu with JC Empanadas — these are my new favorite! The outside is a magical light, crispy tortilla — so good you could eat these by themselves! Inside is the JC beef with melty cheese — creamy & flavorful. $ 6 will get you two of these golden pockets of goodness. Or turn it into a complete meal with rice, beans, chips, and salsa for only $ 2 more! My two-year-old son loves the JC Arroz Con Gandules with Chicken. For $ 5 you get a heaping portion of the seasoned rice with chicken & gandule beans topped with more chicken and their specially seasoned crème fraîche. I would eat it all myself except I know my son loves it so I usually freeze the leftovers and take it back to Honolulu. Head to KCC for a Saturday brunch/lunch. Chef John will be frying up the empanadas to order in the back of the tent, his son Noah will take your order, and his wife Rhonda is running around filling orders while being Mrs Aloha greeting customers/talking story with their regulars.
