We have been eager to add a review for this place! It is a regular stop for us on the way home from the lake. The Fajita Tacos are the bomb… Lots of food on each plate and it is just plain tasty. Service is mediocre but not enough to deter us from hitting this place every chance we can.

Had the Mexican chicken fried steak n frys smothered in green chili, a 4 star meal, the wife ordered all a cart menu and had a chicken burrito smothered in green chili that was wonderful also. Service was a bit slow, margaritas and the chips an salsa were not very tasty. Asked for hot salsa but was sadly disappointed for flavor and not very spicy or flavorful.

Been to this restaurant a few times because it’s my mom’s absolute favorite and their food is downright amazing. I’m not really into the«traditional» Mexican dishes, I like them a little more americanized, and this place is the perfect combination for me. Definitely worth a try.

Our server was great, the food was not. I expect Mexican food to be bursting with flavor, but other than chili powder & some green chilies, I doubt there’s even a salt shaker in the kitchen. The refrained beans had absolutely no flavor. The rice was gummy & bland. The salsa tasted like a thin tomato sauce. It’s a cute place, but they’ve gotta get that food spiced up!

I didn’t have a great experience at this place. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. There were 3 people behind the bar, but it was still almost impossible to get refills or order anything. They weren’t super busy, so I don’t understand why the service was so lacking. On top of that, everything we ordered was bland and just not very good, especially for their prices. We also ordered queso dip, which was less than a cup of melted Velveeta with cheap hamburger and green peppers for $ 8.95. I gave two stars because I’ve had much worse experiences at restaurants before and this was not that bad, but we will still not waste our money here again. The staff wasn’t rude, just not very attentive.

Sad Last 3 times we have been here the service and food quality has gone down. Tonight was horrible and my husband got a chicken bone in his Indian taco. We did go at 8pm but if you’re open please act like it.

The service was very friendly and the food was a large portion. The fried ice cream wasn’t the best I’ve had. The coating wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked.

I’m glad I read the reviews after dining here. While it was not the best food I’ve ever eaten, it was far from the descriptions on some of these poor reviews. My wife and I split the carnitas special. It was more than enough food for the two of us. The carnitas were nicely seasoned and the grilled chiles, while milder than I normally like, were very flavorful and made a great accompaniment to the grilled onions when making a taco from the plate. Retried beans and rice were very ordinary but good. The heat on the spice scale came from the salsa verde. Now that had some heat and was quite tasty. There were no complaints from anyone else at the table. The pineapple margarita was tasty but a bit sweet and seemed to have sugar on the rim? Odd but the people who ordered it seemed to enjoy it. All in all it was a good experience for our family. Certainly better than some of the other«Mexican» places we have tried over the years when in Pueblo.

Do not eat here if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. Subpar at best. Try the small Mexican restaurant in the same parking lot. Much better.

I liked this place, they had good margaritas and good food! Customer service was excellent too! I had a monster burrito, could only finish half of it cuz I filled up on chips! Why do I always do that?! Anyways can I have a to go box please?

Tried this place for the first time and was optimistic that it would be good. Got the smothered pork chop and another in my group did the same. Of the 8 in the group both who ate the pork chop got very sick. Never again.

Went here with my grandfather, it was packed but we got seated in ok time. The chips and dip werent that good the salsa tasted like watery tomato sauce and I ordered a grilled quesadilla with just cheese and chicken and when I got it, it looked good, but the chicken wasn’t fresh. It was canned chicken and didn’t taste good at all. The beans and rice were ok, and the waiter was nice but the food was horrible and I got a stomach ache a few hours later and threw up.

The only reason I’m giving this place a 2 is due to the great server we had at our table. Now on to the meat or lack thereof. Let me start by we had the happy hour margaritas 2 each and an appetizer of nachos with chicken. Simply stated, the Maggie’s were weak and over salted and tasted more like lime ice without any flavor of whatever tequila they were using. I expected much more from the nachos with the addition of extremely BLAND chicken especially for the price tag on the appetizer. I also need to mention that you only get 1 basket of chips and a small portion of salsa. The salsa is below average & if you want more it will be added to your check. Total check with tip was just over $ 30.00 for two drinks and nachos. So if you want to give your money away for bland food, God bless you. If you’re wanting to simply give money away, donate it to your favorite charity and head across the lot to Habaneros for some REAL Mexican food, your wallet and your taste buds will thank you later. Great staff = 2.0 Drinks. = 0.0 Food. = 0.0. Overpriced appetizer(bland) Value. = 0.0 Bottom line: Won’t ever go back under current kitchen and bar staff.

Cactus Flower seems to have a sort of cult following in Pueblo and I cannot understand why. In a town packed with great Mexican food, this place just doesn’t stack up. Portions are small and relatively expensive(for Pueblo at least). I ordered fajitas once and they will filled to the brim… with lettuce. Each fajita had one, count it, one piece of meat. They just fill up their plates with cheap ingredients to apparently save money, but the quality of food definitely suffers in the process. All of their food is also very greasy, which is a terrible combination with the style of food they serve. The greasy makes everything else soggy. Servers always seem overwhelmed and work with an air of arrogance(or is it indifference). Most of the time, they are too busy watching the Broncos or the Nuggets on television to pay attention to the needs of the customer. Cactus Flower might pass as Mexican food in another town, but Pueblo has so many better(and cheaper) options.

This place was great since I walked in the door. I came here by myself and sat at the bar. I had service right away. My drink was never empty. The manager was present and I seen him seating people and tending to tables. Chips and salsa were fresh. I was here during non-peak hours(about 3 pm) so it may be different during busier times. Great food and great service!

As a Las Vegas hostess at one of the most prestigious hotels in Las Vegas, I was so impressed with the warm and friendly service that the folks at Cactus Flower had to offer! I walked in and was greeted by a friendly host and whisked away to my table that was in one of the main dining rooms. They have all sorts of different color sombreros, old Mexican blankets and decorative dishes on the wall that definitely gives off the vibe of being at my grandmas. They also have really beautiful vibrant wall murals all around the restaurant. My server was Joe. He was super helpful at helping me navigate the menu and he even helped me pick out a chili Margarita that was sooo good with my complimentary chips and salsa. I opted for the cream cheese enchiladas with spinach and I am so happy that I did! The chicken was tender and flavorful, the sauce had a good kick and my food came out relatively quickly! I also got a side of fideo, and it was so good! I am very impressed with the level of service, the delicious food, and the speed of service! My whole stay was deserving of standing ovations. Next time I’m on this side of Colorado I am making sure that I definitely make a trip to Pueblo for this cute little restaurant!

Pueblo is close enough to New Mexico to be influenced by its cuisine, and when I ordered the tamale plate I was asked the New Mexico State Question, «Red or green?»(chile) However, the green chile was thicker and tastier than any I had in New Mexico, nor was the tamale one of those little hard brick-like things I’ve had there. Not too much masa either, it was a perfect blend with the pork. Conscientious about bringing more water to the table, too. Really good place.

Walking in to the Cactus Flower was amazing. It is a huge building that looks really good! 1 bowl of chips n salsa was a little disappointing but not a deal breaker. My wife had an amazing pork and avocado taco plate where as I was left underwhelmed by my steak tacos. They tasted bland unfortunately. Overall I am left unsure hence the 3 stars.

I came for a work lunch around 1:30 on a Tuesday. The service was slow. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa but the food was just okay. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, my coworkers had the chicken enchiladas and some sort of monster burritos. The burritos were HUGE! A lot of food, but not the best Mexican in Pueblo.
