First off; don’t judge the gallery just by the building, or it’s sign. Give it a shot, and you won’t be disappointed. The doors are heavy oak with wraught iron handles; a sign of ancient Chinese architecture. I love the little touch of the small iron bells on the knob on the inside as well. It seemed like the owner was doing a little bit of redecorating while we were there, as there were several boxes littering the show floor. I was able to stop and speak with the owner for a little while as well; a lot of the work on the first floor is his own that he makes there in the gallery, or agrees to sell for local artists. I was really impressed how willing he was to talk about some of the pieces. Many of the works depict landscapes around Cape Cod; the mountainsides or dunes of the lower Cape area. A lot of the artist’s work is done with sponge and oil, or acrylics, and is all very, very attractive to the eye. Sarah Slavick’s work is on display as well; someone who’s name sounds very, very familiar. As you visit the other half of the gallery, you see some more intricate and thought out pieces, as well as reproductions of famous paintings by Chinese historians. Sculptures adorn some of the stands littered about the building as well, though are not for sale, it seemed. There is a second floor to the gallery as well that you absolutely must check out. The second floor houses all of the more expensive pieces, and works drawn exclusively for the gallery. There are some very, very lifelike paintings that I even had to second guess my own eyes to make sure I couldn’t actually grab what was being painted.

I like this gallery. It showcases Asian Art that doesn’t come in a screen, furniture or ancient style. This gallery shows some modern, progressive pieces. There were a severaI I would’ve liked to bring back with me to my apt. Sadly, my purse strings don’t match but when I’m in P-town, I’ll definitely have a look.
