Spent a pleasant 3 hours here during my recent vacation. On my first visit I tried the almond biscotti(delicious when dipped in their Mighty Leaf Ginger Twist tea). The second time I went for a very filling cranberry and orange bread(could only finish half). My husband got the blackberry scone and coffee. He wasn’t a fan of his coffee(I didn’t try it), but liked the scone. Expect a line out the door in the mornings — there was about a full 1 ½ hour period with a constant line out the door(granted, this may mean only 5 – 6 people are in line, but it shows their popularity). I especially liked the camaraderie of the staff — cracking jokes with each other and the clientele. Seating may be hard to come by(and some tables aren’t under cover of umbrellas), but you can just catch a glimpse of the water from the front patio(and it’s a great spot for people-watching). There seemed like an even mix of locals and tourists(as it’s a bit further up/West on Commercial Street). The bathroom requires walking through the kitchen, but it is there if you need it.

Man, I liked the coffee here! I had coffee from three places while in Ptown and this was the best. Croissants are amazing… my mouth waters just thinking about them. I had a ham and cheese one day and a sausage, egg and cheese another day and both were terrific. Definitely a go to place. I can’t go with five stars because I am impatient and service is leisurely and I usually had to repeat my order three times before it was fully absorbed, but that’s okay because the staff is friendly. If there’s a line of more than two people, however, bring a book because you may be awhile.

A review of the croissants. Amazing. Like best I’ve had since I was on Paris. Ham and cheese was so savory. Plain was delish. Pure butter. Also nice deal on ground beans ½ the price of Stumptown.

Coffee was okay, but the pasties are worth the visit. Stopped by twice, first day was a pea can caramel brownie. It probably had about 1,000 calories. Definite worth it! Day two, carrot cake, almost as good.

We were looking forward to morning coffee at Joes after snapping sunrise pictures at the pier. We even walked around the streets and took a brief nap on the beach while waiting for them to open at 7. We were delighted to see 2 guys at different tables enjoying their coffee and scones as we walked up a few minutes before 7. «We’re not open!,» was our gruff greeting as we opened the unlocked door. Hmmm… open to 2 good-looking young gay men but not to two charming older women??? We go to wait at one of the outside tables. After seeing several other men come out with coffee, we return through the open doors as Mr. Star Neck Tattoo is putting up the open signs. «It’s official now,» we pleasantly comment. He turns his back on us. We proceed to the counter and give a non happy woman our order, which is delivered quickly(1 star). Lattes were bitter, not worth $ 4. Strawberry, goat cheese scones were warm and delicious(2nd star). It was a beautiful morning in a beautiful town. If you don’t like your job, do something else. If you don’t want customers, sell the place. Rudeness does not get my money.

Love this place! Great coffee and their pastries etc. are to die for! Outdoor seating too! Customer service is a dream, people are so friendly and accommodating. Espresso is fabulous and when u order you get a double shot for $ 2.50 not a smidgen like at Starbucks and is comparable to Italian(Italy) coffee when I visited Italy. One of my favorite spots in PTown. Wifi too. Just wish they open @ 6 instead of 7 as I am a early riser and coffee houses are limited here.

Decent café to grab a coffee and snack. We enjoyed sitting on the brick umbrella covered porch. Being from NY the bagels didn’t thrill us. The breakfast sandwiches are overpriced and underwhelming. The iced late was good, not great. I would stop back for a coffee if I was in need of one.

The employees are so obnoxious(except the lady making the food). It’s Ptown, not NYC where you expect obnoxious so calm down and don’t take yourself so seriously.

After an uneventful drive to Provincetown and checking into our guest room, I desperately needed a cup of coffee to perk me up. Plus there’s nothing better than a good cup of hot coffee on a fall day in Provincetown, well that is if you get a good cup of coffee. Joe Coffee and Café is a mecca in Provincetown and always slammed. But for the life of me I can’t figure out why. The employee behind the counter(employee is the nicest description I have for her, as she obviously wasn’t a barista, or a customer service professional,) but I digress. I had to give her my order three times because she kept forgetting it while she chatted and talked about dates, pets, and plans with her co-workers. It was as if we were all interfering with her social life. I finally received my croissant and small coffee and went outside and took a seat on the brick wall to bask in the chilly sunshine. The croissant was dry and in no way resembled what a croissant should taste like. It was obviously a poorly made bread dough shaped to look like a croissant. I realize this is not Paris or even London, but it’s an old Portuguese fishing village, surely someone can put together a better pastry than what they serve. Now on to the topic of coffee, it’s just plain terrible. Bitter, over-roasted and mine tasted as if it had been sitting around for several days and then warmed up. It was undrinkable. If you want to be with the in-crowd, then go to Joe Coffee and Café, but if my experience is the norm, don’t expect good service or a decent cup of coffee. My wife and i stopped in for a quick sandwich. Had coffee, hot chocolate, and a turkey club sandwich. The coffee was average as i expected. My wife, however, said it was most likely one of the best hot chocolates she has had. We also both really enjoyed the turkey club on the multi grain bread toasted, Excellent! While the staff was attentive and took our order right was they could have presented a friendlier attitude and in general the tables and coffee cream/sugar table should have been better cleaned. I would have giving a 4 except for the cleanliness. BTW, we liked it enough to go back twice while in P-Town

Ok pastry and coffee. Not a fan of the flys on the exposed food on the counter. Surprised to hear all the complaints about the staff rudeness. Good out door seating for people watching. Love the reviewer who complained about the staff not accepting«breeders». What a douche nozzle.

Best pastries I’ve ever had — try the ham and swiss croissant and the spinach feta croissant. Solid pastry selection. Café au lait and espresso were on point. Smart breakfast stop before heading to the beach.

Love the food and coffee. Hate the service. Almost everyone who takes your order is incredibly rude and short with you. They hate any questions you may have. Need to find a better choice when we are in ptown.

We made this our morning choice for food and beverage all 5 days in P-Town simply because of the delicious breakfast, coffee and tea. Over $ 100 dollars for croissants and drinks. Unfortunately, this isn’t a place you want to go experience top notch hospitality. There are many unpleasant order takers who give you the feeling they are Inconvenienced by, oh… spending your money there! The young lady with short blonde hair stands out above the rest. I asked her two questions and I thought she was hyperventilating with the amount of loud sighs she expressed. Come on Joe, we have higher expectations of our daily morning choice.

The service at this place is a complete joke — no really, it’s like you walked into an episode of Punked. They are dismissive and rude and are incapable of smiling. We have been to the wired puppy and khoi and staff there are lovely and kind, but we like the coffee and outdoor space at Joe’s best so we will pretend we are starring in a TV show when we order to ease the pain and continue to sip our fabulous coffee on the terrace.

Plus: Coffee isn’t bad, breakfast sandwiches are good, pastries are tasty. Minus: Service is the pits. Absolutely dismal. My experience: I was in town for Labor Day weekend 2015 and I would expect that businesses here know how to deal with peaks & valleys in customer demand since it’s such a seasonal area. I stopped by here each of three mornings in a row and the third morning(Labor Day) was by far the worst. The line was typically 10 – 15 customers deep. The cashier kept saying things like«can you believe this line??» «I want to take a picture so everyone can see what I’m *dealing* with.» «I can’t believe I have to deal with all these people.» Hint: customers don’t like to be «dealt» with. My two iced lattes were ready within a couple of minutes — great job! I ordered a breakfast sandwich. The guy working the food station was a disaster. Tickets all over, sandwiches in various states of assembly, eventually taking 20 minutes to get three sandwiches out ahead of my order. He got to preparing my order(one bacon & one sausage sandwich) at which point another customer came up to complain his order was wrong. This customer said«excuse me» three or four times but the guy never turned around or acknowledged him. He did, however, turn around occasionally to put finished sandwiches on the counter but kept his eyes on the floor and never looked up leaving this customer to keep trying unsuccessfully to get his attention. Finally the employee acknowledged him by talking over his shoulder dismissively but never actually stopped to listen. Instead he just made another sandwich using«my» ingredients, tossed it into a bag and threw it in front of the complaining customer who said«is this mine?» The food prep guy said dismissively«yah» then promptly walked off leaving my sandwiches half done. Five minutes goes by, the food dude hasn’t come back. Flies sitting on my unfinished sandwiches, all food prep has come to a stop. Finally one of the baristas notices the dude is missing so he goes to find him in the back. Some conversation ensued in the back room that didn’t sound pleasant then, finally, the barista came back and took over. All the unfinished food got tossed and he started over, tickets all over the place and complete confusion around what’s done and what’s not. Finally, 35 minutes and $ 26 after ordering, I got my two sandwiches. Seriously, this place has problems. Maybe better in the off season when there aren’t so much customers to «deal with.»

One of my two favorite coffee shops in Ptown. And in the top 5 of all time. The fresh morning blends are a great way to start the day. A mid bike ride snack and refuel always works too. The patio is awesome for people watching as well. And the owner Scott is a great guy.

Came here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I have always known Joe as a coffee place, but did not know that they offered some sandwiches as well. We decided to split the Italian and the chicken salad sandwich. The Italian was tasty and had a lot of meat packed into the sandwich. I do wish they had some sort of sauce on it that gave it more of a kick, but it was decent. The chicken salad sandwich was definitely my favorite. It had huge chunks of chicken and was really flavorful. It is not a light sandwich, as it was super creamy, but it was worth it. Overall, these sandwiches were both good and I would consider coming back again for the chicken salad. While the ingredients don’t necessarily beat out Relish, the soft ciabatta bread that they are served on really completes the sandwiches.

Yes, the coffee is rich and strong. Yes, the savory scones are fresh, fluffy, and delicious. But over the years, they just haven’t figured out how to be efficient. There is always a line out the door, except in the dead of the late afternoon.

The coffee isn’t bad. The baked good and the sandwiches are quite good. I would suggest the staff that has direct contact with the public be retrained on customer service. Several orders were fumbled. Instead of correcting it right away, I received eye rolls and told I needed to speak up next time.

They have croissants, crunchy-thick-cheesecake frosting carrot cake and darn good espresso. They also have lunch sandwiches, bagels and salads. The place is a long, cool dark-wood, cream walls, big bay window kinda joint with one awful common toilet in the back. The flush is short and strong though, so thank heavens for that so u can continue your foodie schlep through town. Nice patio with lots of wire tables and seats.

Stopped in for a quick pick-me-up cup of coffee. Nothing fancy, just a cup of drip coffee. A small cup was only $ 2, which seemed reasonable to me. Service was prompt. The coffee was hot, but not too hot, and the flavor was very nice. Low acidity, smooth, but rich, no bitterness or weird aftertastes. If my next cup of joe at Joe’s matches the one I’m finishing up now, this will be my coffee home in Ptown.

Visitor’s of Provincetown look no further, I have found your home base. The place where you will gather each morning to discuss the plans for your picturesque Cape Cod day over the rims of beautifully filled coffee cups and baskets of breakfast sandwiches. I know what you’re thinking: I’m staying at a bed and breakfast! I’ll just have my coffee and breakfast there. And, you could. You really could. I would even say – go ahead, have the breakfast at your B&B – it probably is quite delicious. You could even enjoy your first cup of regular ol’ joe there. But, to get the extraordinary – to get a beautifully brewed, steamed to perfection, foam topped mocha of loveliness – you MUST come here. They have a large, partially shaded patio right on Commercial Street where you can meet your people in the sunshiny morning, caffeinate in style, and plan you day. And, if you happen to have abstained from the B&B’s breakfast offerings or if you just want a second go at the most important meal of the day(vacation calories don’t really count, do they?) – I would recommend their breakfast croissant, which is all cheesy sausage goodness. Plus, to top it all off, the service is friendly and efficient. Get to it!
