So I don’t think it’s normal to laugh and have a good time during a surgical procedure. But hey it happened. And it was a GOOD thing. I actually enjoyed this small surgical procedure I had in this office today. Yes. You read that correctly. I thought someone would just take a look and something would be scheduled for another day. And to be fair, my expectations of today’s event started in shaky footing after an 1 hr plus wait to even get into the back area to be seen. Yikes. Then Dr Beth Ryder shows up and things take a turn for the better. She was engaging and funny and recognized a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference. Well done Doctor. She asked if I wanted the procedure done today. I said sure and off we went. Super easy, professional and went smoothly. And did I mention it was a really enjoyable event?(It was local anesthesia by the way so it’s not like I was out of it and making odd judgements). She was again engaging and professional and so was Joan the assistant, friendly and helpful. Seriously, this is not what I was expecting. Good stuff. After the 1 hr plus wait — I was in and out in 20mins and all taken care of. A surreal but excellent experience. I’d you need a minor surgical procedure done. Go here. See Dr Ryder. The wait was kinda worth it.

This review is for the lovely ladies on the 2nd floor at the pre-admission testing office! Nervous, exhausted and up way too early, I had an appointment scheduled a couple weeks back for the typical rounds of blood tests and EKG’s prior to my discectomy. Everyone was incredibly compassionate, efficient and completely understanding from the front desk to the two nurses who took care of me. While the second of the nurses was going over my medical history, the massive list of medical do’s and don’ts and medications, she went out of her way to ensure my husband and I were understanding of the procedure and every detail that needed to be covered regarding my hospital stay. By the time I left I felt entirely assured and even kinda sorta amped up about going under the knife the next week! Should you be sent to Miriam for a procedure, you can definitely feel rest assured the pre-admission offices totally have your back.
