The Taqueria has closed, and I’m forever saddened. I hope it will come back, because I miss their pulled pork tacos and refreshing limeade.

Adiós! Too bad these guys went out of business, hopefully they resurrect the Truk.

This place has THE best fish/shrimp tacos in Providence. All the ingredients are made on site and are fresh. The cumin-lime sour cream rocks. The guac is off the hook. I am so sad this place is closing down at AS220. I really hope you guys re-open somewhere in the DT Providence area.

Mmmm sweet potatoes, eggs and cheese in a soft corn tortilla… GENIUS! I was loving the Saturday Mexican inspired breakfast options. I’d never thought of putting sweet potatoes with my eggs, but I’m sure glad I tried it. They had a little smokey spice to them which was quite refreshing. The hearty side of bacon was also impressive. A little pricey for breakfast at $ 10 total with the side of bacon, but the portion was huge and it promised farm fresh eggs and it certainly kicked the pants off any DD egg sandwich. I can’t wait to go back and try the pulled pork and other lunch treats they had available.

Healthy fresh Mexican food as good as in California at reasonable prices. I had the veggie taco and the tofu taco — both were excellent with fresh ingredients, thick grilled corn tortillas, and tasty seasoning. There was some kind of chard on the veggie taco, which was unexpected but tasty, along with some black beans. The tofu taco was more filling with ample pieces of soft grilled tofu. Excellent. My only complaint is that it would be nice to have a 3 taco plate at a discount — two tacos was not quite enough for me(I eat a lot though). Total cost of about seven dollars. Sure it’s not the one dollar taco truck — it is much tastier with better ingredients. I’d eat here often if it were in California and that’s a high recommendation given there are about five Mexican places per square mile in CA.

Once we were at some bar on Capitol Hill, and a taco truck pulled up outside. We were ecstatic; there was nowhere to get a decent burrito in Providence. When AS220 renovated the taco truck opened up shop on Empire St. When you order your food, they give you a block from a kid’s playset so the waitress knows who to serve. The have excellent limeade, so tart! as well as Jarritos sodas. I’m from California and when I lived in Providence I really missed good, California style Mexican food. This place is pretty close: their BRC burritos are great, especially topped with quemada salsa. Not open on Mondays!

The food here isn’t bad, as far as «Mexican» in New England goes, but let’s be honest: just because it’s chock full of so many spices that it makes me sweat doesn’t mean that it’s good Mexican food. In fact, good Mexican food is typically made by Mexicans, not snobby Hipsters who think they’re God’s gift to line cooks. Furthermore, good Mexican food doesn’t usually cost so much. I WILL say that I have much love for the establishment’s support of local artists. I eat at Taqueria because I like who they support.

Closed Mondays, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the door(no sign, and unlocked) or looking inside(a dozen people eating, and two chefs cooking). It’s a surreal and embarrassing experience to walk into a functioning café and be told that they are closed. I’d love to eat there and write about their food, but I’m hesitant to repeat this experience.

I like the atmosphere and the attitude. Had a veggie burrito. Very big and tasty. The sweet potato is a nice addition, but I’ve always been a big fan of sweet potatoes. Only been at lunch, but I like the looks of the bar.

Driving through Providence we decided to throw caution to the wind and spend a few hours in town. Lemme tell ya — this is when Unilocal really comes in handy! When you’re visiting a city for the first time and have no idea where to go and what to do, this site can make or break your day. Yeah, I work for Unilocal but trust me, I’d say this even if I didn’t. Tummies were growling and everyone in the car always agrees on Mexican food, so we decided to give Taqueria Pacifica a try since the reviews were so awesome. Score! As soon as we pulled up I knew we were going to like it. The inside of the restaurant is colorful and cute, and the staff is amazingly friendly. So friendly that I was immediately freaked out — they looked like hipsters but my god, they were NICE! No snark or attitude, no snarling of the lips when my daughter proceeded to order her taco in the special way that only an 8 year old can. They were just friendly, cool people, and now I’m totally stoked to see if this is how folks in Providence roll or if this was an anomaly. Anyway, the food was rad(if you have a smallish appetite like me, split the burrito with someone else, ’cause it’s big) and they have a good selection of Jarritos. Four of us ate for around $ 30 and we left full and happy. Five sexy stars for Taqueria!

I went here for the first time this past Saturday afternoon. They were still serving breakfast burritos and everything looked yummy. We placed our order at the counter, and decided to sit there to watch them cook up our food. Ingredients looked very fresh, and I was highly impressed with the size and taste of my burrito. I love the fact that they’re slightly browned over the skillet and have a hint of lime in the tortillas. There’s funky art all over the walls, and definitely a funky group of people that go here as well as work here. I’d love to go back and try it again!

Yeah, guess what, it’s not«authentic» mexican food, boo freaking hoo. It’s also not Tex Mex. It doesn’t pretend that it is. It’s only the most kick ass west coast style hippy stoner burrito/fish taco joint ever. And yes, I too am from California,(like 90% of the earth’s population, whatever) Like everyone else has said, VEGETARIANHEAVEN, and«if you don’t like it, you suck.» SWEETPOTATOANYTHING=GOD! Fish tacos are pretty good too. Seriously, I CRIED when they opened this place at AS220 since I wouldn’t have to chase the truk all over town anymore. Plus California is 3000 miles away. So there. The only bad thing is that sometimes one of the less skilled burrito assemblers will make your burrito with too much rice or not let it get melty enough, but that can happen anywhere. If Tyler makes your burrito it will be an other worldly experience. I promise.

This place is adorable. Drop in, and place your order with the friendly fella at the counter. Sometimes get a wooden alphabet block as your order chit. Grab a table or a seat the bar, and await the arrival of your steaming, delicious lunch. Maybe wait a few minutes longer than desirable. But it’s worth. For my first visit today, I had the vegetarian burrito, which was about as long as my forearm and packed with black beans and sweet potatoes. My mouth is still watering as I write about it. Yum yum! So glad I work downcity now, as I can sneak over here for a bite all the time. Bravo burrito!

After a while you gotta update. My only dig about the burritos were that they were dry, but they were delicious otherwise and huge. I’ve mentioned in the past that I had slightly better in Cambridge, and I mentioned Bomber’s burritos, of course I take that back, Tacqueria is closer to Cambridge burrito and definitely better overall than Bomber’s having revisited. Tacqueria is fresher, better cooked food, again awesome guacomole as always, freshly made. delicious limeade, hot and iced tea(special for me) and great chili. Its not tex mex, its pacifica mex, it just good. My favorite of all their specials and the quesadilla mmm-good.

Yum! So delicious. Wish though that the sweet potatoes were a standard for the veggie taco. Would be even better if vegan cheese was an option. Staff is always super pleasant and the service is quick!

This place is probably one of the best places to go for Tex-Mex in Prov. Their tacos and quesadillas are amazing! The atmosphere is also very nice, yet casual. It’s a great place to go with friends when downcity or solo, the food is also well priced.

Some of the best burrito’s in providence plus its close association with a full service bar is a big plus. However, the bar is not open until 5 so for those of us who crave a drink starting at noon, no dice. The pulled pork is super-awesome and the take out«naked» burrito(no tortilla) is basically a quart of deliciousness. Highly recommended!!!

Taqueria Pacifica offers huge, cheap, and ridiculously good meals for carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike(try the vegan cumin-lime sour cream). They even have Saturday brunch specials that use organic, free-range eggs. However, I’m less interested in the politics of their food than in how they got the black beans on my tostadas to take on such a perfect, smooth texture and how the waitress managed to repeatedly refer to me as «my darling» without sounding utterly insincere. Best of all, the restaurant is located right inside AS220, so alcohol, art, music, and pretentiousness are all close at hand. Yum.

Taqueria Pacifica used to be the«Taco Truk» that hung out at places like the Decatur. That might lead you to believe they sell low-quality barfood. Not true at all. All of the food is great, very fresh, and nicely priced. The salsa is some of the best I’ve had. A nice plus is that they’re located in AS220, across from the bar(that is, in the same room). So, although they don’t have a liquor license, you can grab a beer while you wait for your food.
