Great little unpretentious dive bar. We half expected something half-out of a western: the music to screech to a halt, conversation to stop, and all eyes to look at us as we –strangers– entered THEIR bar. But nothing of the sort(granted it was a Wednesday night). Instead we were greeted by a friendly bartender(Manny), cold beers, and pleasant atmosphere in over-accessory disarray. No odors of stale beer or worries of toxic mold growing in the carpet. Odd hours in the summer — but definitely added to our ‘local’ list for an easy going beer.

First off I’ll start by saying this wasn’t what I was expecting. This is very much a sports bar from what I experienced. From what I was reading on here I was very mislead. My girlfriend and I went in expecting to have a quick drink before going home to watch a movie and pass out early. The bartender was a cool guy, was just like everyone else at the bar. The place was nice, carpeted well kept. This is more of a place you and a couple of your friends go, or if you have a girl that likes to watch some baseball(or whatever sport is in season) go. This definitely is not a date spot. That aside the drinks were cheap, my girlfriend got«something fruity» and the bar tender whipped up some tasty concoction that was less than five bucks, which wasn’t strong but wasn’t weak either it was the perfect mix of alcohol and mix. I felt a little stupid when I couldn’t decide what to drink and I asked for a «beer list» and the bartender pointed at the tap and said«we have these» and then pointed at the bottles at the wall and said«and we have these» and the guy sitting next to me laughed. I didn’t find it rude at all though because that was me just being stupid. When I worked in food service I hated when someone would ask me what we had and it was on the board right behind me. In the end I will certainly be coming back to watch a game with a couple of my friends or when my girlfriend is hanging out with her friends and I just want to escape, but I def will not be bringing my girlfriend here again(but hey every guy needs their own bar right?)

Fun little dive with karaōke on Saturdays! Hit it up on my birthday after we finished box karaōke at Sura in Johnston and still felt like singing. cheap, strange, not too crowded, stumbling distance from my apartment and closes later than my beloved Armory bars(E&O and the Avery). Quiet enough you can still have a conversation, friendly. Apparently only sentence fragments can describe. Check it.

TOTT is a little neighborhood bar between Federal Hill and Olneyville. The old location was downtown on Washington St. This newer location is quite different from the old one, but unique on it’s own. When you walk in, it doesn’t immediately strike you as a «bar», never mind a dive. It’s got a carpeted floor and plastic blinds. Eventually, you smell the beer, and see bar paraphernalia. Then, to the left is a pool table and to the right are some tables and chairs. The bar is long and has comfortable seats. Tott has cheap drinks and nice bartenders. It’s a great place to go to meet with friends or shoot some pool. Note: Play the Tott Pot! $ 1 gets you 5 tries. There are 5 die in a cup. If you get 4 of a kind, you get a free drink token. 5 of a kind gets you half of the pot!

Nothing fancy, but I am not a fancy lady anyway. I usually come here around Happy Hour-ish(post-work) and it’s really quiet and laid back. I heard it gets crowded at night, though. Cheap beer.

There are pros and cons to this bar like all others. First off, the bartenders(Aaron, Jamie, Kat, and Anthony) are all extremely nice and interesting. They are attentive and friendly. You can get drunk on a tight budget which is ace. Beers range from 2 – 4.25 ish and mixed drinks are only about 4 $ a piece. I would suggest going on(Blue) Monday and(Metal) Wednesday. Maybe even Saturday if you’re adventurous(awful awful karaōke ha) The downer is that it is pretty tiny. On Wednesdays it is packed inside and there is not much space to do anything. All in all it’s an enjoyable place to be most times. You’ll probably bump into someone you know as well which is nice. Oh, and there is also a pool table :)

I always have a good time at Talk of the Town but the new location is just not what it used to be. It’s kinda cramped… and hot and sweaty, but in reality some times that is the equation for a good time. The music’s the best, the people rule, beers are cheap enough. It certainly does the trick
