Outdoor Patio area is great. Really good Hookahs too. Stop by, grab a drink and a Hookah and chill out.(outdoor heaters too! for colder nights)

I came to Solo with a friend and ordered appetizers(calamari & nachos), wraps, & hookah. We told the server that we wanted hookah in the end but for our surprise, the hookah was served in 15 minutes and about 15 – 20 minutes later the food was served and appetizers were missing. I told the server that we didn’t want the appetizers any more but she still served them almost half an hour after that and acknowledged that the food was served in reverse order. I was talking to her and I asked the place wasn’t busy at all then why the food got messed up and she blamed it on the chef that he was busy talking to someone. We stayed there for a total of almost 2 hours & the server was pretty good, she came and asked us why didn’t even touch the appetizers and I politely reminded her that the appetizers were served very late and they were cold thats why we didn’t want them, she said that it was a mistake but we still got charged for them. Although, she offered to box them but we didn’t want them so, We paid and left, we wont come back again.

Let me tell you about SOLO. The service is absolutely terrible. Servers are inattentive and won’t come over even when flagged down. They spend most of their time standing around or flirting with the patrons. I would note they do not hire male servers as far as I can tell. The drinks are swill. They taste like draino mixed with mouthwash. For the ridiculous amount they charge for a mixed drink, you’d think you could get something decent. Nope. I would not go anywhere near the seafood. The rest of the food is just greasy bar food. Meh. Despite all this, I can’t stop coming here. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they serve food past midnight. Maybe it’s because the drinks are just slightly better then Venda bar next door. Maybe the loud music makes me forget about all of the above. Who knows. Posted from SOLO.

This place is a straight up train wreck. Took 30 min for a cocktail and the waitress told us the bartender was busy talking so couldn’t make the drinks… We peered inside and saw absolutely no one near the bar! And then the waitress proceeded to tell us they ran out of Captain and didn’t carry Sailor Jerry rum. Honestly the drink that took the longest was an ice water with lemon. No wonder it’s called Solo… That is how you end up, alone without a cocktail.

I like the outdoor seating area right on De Pasquale square. We got a comfortable table with comfy chairs and pillows right under the big awning. The martinis were excellent. I ordered the Over the Border Burger with Onion rings and they were very good. My friend Amy got the Greek Salad with grilled chicken and she loved it. My BF got the Chicken Parm sliders and he thought they were a bit dry… not the best he’s had. Nice friendly waiter service.

Beautiful little hookah place tucked away within the Italian corner with live music blaring in the background. Excellent service, great hookah, and even better food. Must try place especially for us tourists who have been to multiple such hookah bars in NYC. First rate!

I’m leaving two stars because the first time I went in, there was a friendly bartender and a manager that I had a great conversation with. They also have an impressive selection on the back bar. I stopped in one night with my friend and decided I would easily go back there. Tonight, it was freezing. I walked past plenty of places to get dinner because I wanted to try Solo after seeing an interesting menu. I was the only person in the restaurant. This is fine, it was a cold night– but when one person is in your restaurant, you should make it count. I had a great view of the bartender’s back, who showed no interest in me being her only customer(most likely for the night). She completely ignored me after not being on her bar in the first place, and did not make me feel like she wanted a customer there. I had ordered food, but after her doing a bunch of closing work in front of me(hours before close), I asked for it to go. I actually would rather eat it in the cold and go home than continue the cold experience I was having at the restaurant I don’t go to a bar to drink alone. Part of being a bartender is talking to your guests. I’m not looking for a friend, but some semblance of being aware that you have a *guest* should be the case. I don’t mean to trash a new place, but they need to hire people who do their job. Solo seemed ok, but tonight I could have had better service at Wendys. I’m always looking to try new things and am a very good customer… probably won’t be heading back.

Hadn’t been here in forever and while roaming the hill looking for a quick bite to eat me and a friend stumbled upon Solo once again. We were the only patrons in the place so we had our choice of seating and a very attentive server. We ordered two personal pizzas(what? only $ 7? I’m sold) I got the bbq chicken and my friend ordered the margherita. Both were delicious and the portion size was perfect with enough to even have leftovers. The atmosphere is nice, the music can get a bit loud but nothing that ruins an evening. Service was friendly and attentive and you can’t beat a $ 7 bill at the end of your meal.

My boyfriend and I went back here May 16th for a special occasion. The outside was open, and it was warm out, so we ate outside. Our waitress was very pleasant. She took our drink orders right away. After glancing over the menu, we noticed there was no sushi(which is what we wanted). We asked her for a sushi menu, and she told us they don’t have sushi anymore :( We looked over the menu again. The choices were very limited. I would have thought that, with the big summer rush coming, they would have expanded their menu, or had different things to try. We just ended up getting burgers. I got a Hill Burger, and my boyfriend got a mushroom one. They were ok, but nothing special. I’ve been to better burger places. Their hookah menu was bigger than the food, so I think that’s what they’re focusing on now. I probably won’t go back, since hookah is not my thing. It was funny, because on our receipt, it still said«Solo Sushi».

Just went for hookah and drinks(no food) with another couple last night. The service was crappy. After taking an abnormally long time to pour two glasses of wine and crack open two beers, our server brought me a white wine when I had originally asked for Merlot. Not to mention, I asked if they had Malbec and her reply was, ‘no, just the house wine”…I’m pretty sure she didn’t know what Malbec was. Well, my wine and my friend’s wine was terrible. We returned them and just got waters, and our waitress’s response a few minutes later was, «you girls look so bored cuz you’re not drinking.»…ummm…we chose not to drink after that terrible glass of wine, so thank you for being rude. Then we waited a good 20 minutes for the hookah to come out. Once it did, the owner came over to show us how to use it, although he clearly had other things to do and seemed a bit annoyed that I had never used a hookah. The kicker for me was at the end of the night when we got our billed and we were still charged for the two glasses of wine that we took one sip of and returned. I’ll try another bar next time I’m in Federal Hill.

I always liked Solo sushi and I used to go there very ofter for sushi or just drinks. 3 weeks ago I went there with a few friends. I was very surprised when, 2 days later, I checked my bank statement and saw that the waitress tampered with my receipt and added more to her tip. I called the place 3 times and never heard back from them. Guess that was my last time there…

Horrible service. Waiter didn’t remember orders and kept coming back to ask. They added a 20% tip which was ridiculous since the service was so terrible. We complained and they wouldn’t let us lower the tip and were frankly rude about it. This place will tank. Also the sushi was just fish and too much rice. $ 15 rolls and no flavor.

One word: CONFUSED. Sushi and mediterranean food? Connected by nothing except the seam of a menu. Sushi was bland and borderline, and the calamari purported freshness but was rubbery. Sorry we wasted our pretty pennies.

So Solo Burger is no more… now it’s Solo Sushi and hookah??? Too strange for me! I went on a Wednesday evening for an event offering wine tastings and appetizers. The wine was ok. and the appetizers non-existent. We were also never offered a menu or even acknowledged by the staff there. They definitely missed a money making opportunity! We drank our free wine and left. The crowd seemed to all know each other and all dressed alike! It all made for a rather uncomfortable situation. The ONLY reason this place gets 2 stars for the availability of outdoor seating.

I can’t imagine why this place wasn’t as packed as the other places in the plaza. The service was great, definitely a four or five. The food was exceptional! You must try the fried calamari with peppers and olives. The pizza was fresh and perfectly flavored, with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and the basil was perfectly sweet.

Ah — a night out on federal hill — the sounds of a crooner singing to people nearby, the smell of gravy(sauce) and italian pastries, and of course that classic italian staple — hookah.(what?) I dined outdoors with a group of friends on a summery Saturday night. There’s a very spacious open-air patio with wicker chairs and metal tables. We were seated without a wait and although the place was bustling, it didn’t feel cramped. The menu isn’t huge, and features burgers, appetizers, and a few other entrée items. Outside of the burgers, the menu seems to have something of a middle-eastern flair. The table sampled a few apps and all were yummy, but nothing mind-blowing. The burgers were suprising — whenever dining at a place featuring burgers, i expect a large, almost over-indulgent patty and all sorts of trimmings. Solo was quite the opposite — just the burger, the dressings that came with that particular order, and a hearty bun. That said, the flavor was extraordinary — i went from looking at my plate and being a bit disappointed, to being very very satisfied after just my first bite. Both the normal fries and the sweet potato fries were excellent. The staff was polite and accommodating, but nothing out of the ordinary. The table went through several pitchers of Sangria($ 20) — not the best Sangria I’ve had, but tastey stuff. Oh yes, and the hookah. If you don’t know what it is — look it up. I didn’t imbibe, but the rest of the table seemed to quite enjoy it. If nothing else, it’s a novelty that you don’t find at many places in Providence.

This place just opened… and we were pleasantly surprised. The interior is gorgeous & not at all what I expected for a burger place. Smallish– probably about 10 – 15 tables and seating at their bar. We were in for lunch, but I have a feeling this is going to be a great place for late night… cheap draft & bottled beer. And I’m looking forward to enjoying lunch & a beer out on their huge covered patio this summer! My food was good… I had the fish & chips. The fish was crispy and tasty. Their fries could use some work… they were thin cut, but pretty soggy & floppy. I like mine crispy! We got«onion straws» as an app– and they definitely weren’t straws, but still good. They came with a tasty bourbon bbq sauce which the server told us is made in house, as with all their sauces. My friends enjoyed all of their burgers. I will get a burger next time– they have a good variety on their menu. The service was friendly & our food came out quickly… but we were the only people in there at the time! The manager(maybe the owner) brought our party dessert on the house, so that was nice. But– they just opened so I’m looking forward to trying it out again soon and seeing how it goes!

While I’ve been Unilocaling for several months, it took a terrible experience to finally get me to write my first review. Even with my $ 50 living social deal, this meal was not worth it. We started with the fried calamari and before ordering we asked the waitress how big it was because we knew we could be ordering a few rolls between us. She said that she could finish it by herself with no problem, and wow… she wasn’t kidding. It came with a Mediterranean style marina sauce that was served in a full size bowl and placed on the same plate as the calamari itself??? The calamari was bland and overcooked and it’s small size was actually its greatest attribute. I ordered the Samba roll(salmon, tuna, and asparagus on the inside, deep fried with spice mayo siracha, and eel outside) and while it did come out hot, the crisp and rice were soggy which weighed down the entire roll. My friend ordered the same thing and couldn’t even finish his. Our waitress recommended the Dice-K-Roll(crispy tuna and asparagus inside, red and white tuna outside with spicy majo and eel sauce) and while it out-shined it’s mushy counterpart, it lacked anything formidable. I normally don’t judge a place’s sushi based of only two rolls, but I ordered what I normally enjoy and they simply didn’t match up. Also, for the quality of rolls, the $ 15 price tag for each was terrible. Drinks: While our waitress was nice, she didn’t seem to know much about the drinks and looked at my menu to answer questions about each. I decided on a gin gimlet and while I was expecting fresh lime on fed hill, she came back with what tasted like rose’s sweetened lime juice and a brown lime slice. In an attempt to save the evening I kept it simple with a JWB on the rocks, which came in a full glass of ice and another half brown lime slice to boot. The general manager came over and asked how our meal was and explained that they had only recently started doing sushi but assured us that their hookahs are«no question, the best in town.» The atmosphere is small and simple and while I wouldn’t mind coming back to try hookah on their heated outdoor patio, Solo has limited acumen in food affairs.
