We recently returned to Restored by Design to buy a gift for my husband’s grandmother. The location on Main Street has more space for browsing. It’s a beautiful store to look through and includes jewelry, clothing, and other knick knacks. Note that less jewelry is on display in this location, but if there is something you are looking for, make sure you ask. There are additional items in some of the drawers in the store. We have not been to the shop in a while, and we were shocked when the shop owner remembered us! Everyone who works there is extremely helpful. They are very knowledgable about their inventory. Shopping at Restored by Design is always a pleasant experience. Within minutes we found a perfect gift.

I stumbled in here today during a leisurely walk and I could not have been more pleased with what I found! This store is a treasure trove for a crafting-obsessed person like me, and I walked out of here having spent much more than I should have and feeling energized as hell. The store is set up in a very interesting way, with half of the store featuring artisan jewelry, home decorations, and clothing and the other half of the store featuring beautiful high quality raw materials. The owner is extremely helpful, and was great in helping me find the exact materials that I was looking for. I mentioned that I was working on a crocheted bag and she helped me to find a fantastic sturdy vintage bag to use as a lining. I also picked up a great deal of buttons and some lovely pink french lace that I can not wait to use. This store is fantastic for crafters who are concerned with the quality of their materials, and I can not wait to come back!

Martha’s store is a home run. It feels like it’s been there forever because it’s so cozy, but in reality it just made to move from Central Falls to Fox Point a few months ago. Ethos: It’s all in a name! everything in the store is handmade — locally — on the premises! Mostly by Martha herself with a few other artisans. Let’s hear it for upcycling in the name of fashion. Uniqueness: I can’t say it any better than the store describes itself: «Feminine, yet eclectic with a romantic twist and modern edge.» Necklaces, scarves, home accessories… with everything neatly displayed, but seemingly in no particular order. Experience: The best part about walking in was seeing Martha working behind her sewing machine(vs. reading a book behind the register). It truly doesn’t even feel like a retail store because it’s her open studio space, too. The whole time I was there I felt like I was getting a behind-the-scenes look at her creation process. Overall, a total home run. Every piece is one of a kind. Custom work welcome. Pieces are handmade with love, but they aren’t cheap. Street parking is a breeze. Hours are super flexible. Loved the space. Great website, too to shop from home! Looking forward to returning when I have more time to browse. Each component of each piece is world it’s own look, whether it be beads, lace, resin, ribbon — so fun!
